Abstract

Small-scale fishermen dominate the number of fishermen in Prigi Bay. Some basic non-food household expenditure variables can be used to measure the social resilience index of fisher households. This study analyses the social resilience index of small-scale fisher households based on 4 criteria: Health, Education, Social capital and housing. The number of respondents used in this study was 75 fishermen. The results showed that the value of the health dimension of small-scale fisher households of each indicator was dominated by the highest score. The education dimension is good as shown by the highest score, but there is also a low score for reading parks and non-formal education. The social capital dimension is quite good, but there are low scores for unpaid public facilities, no sports groups and no access to special schools. While the settlement dimension has high scores for all indicators. The total social resilience score of health, education, social capital and settlements is 133. This means the Social Resilience index value based on the 4 criteria above is 70%. This value is included in the category of vulnerability resistance.

Abstract

Tuna resources have an important economic value and are spread across most of Indonesian waters, ranging from western Indonesian waters to eastern Indonesian waters. One of the distributions of tuna fish in Indonesia is East Java Province. Tuna fishing business is an economic activity carried out by small-scale fishermen by combining resources such as fishing costs, fishing experience, frequency of fishing, ship tonnage, engine power, and the amount of fuel used for fishing) to achieve the main goal of making a profit. This research is important to determine the factors that affect the productivity of tuna fishing business, analyze the allocative efficiency of the factors of production of tuna fishing business, and analyze the profits obtained by fishermen in their business of catching tuna in the waters of Prigi south of East Java. The research method used is descriptive through observation interviews and documentation. This research was conducted on tuna fish fishermen on the coast of Prigi, East Java Regency. The results showed that the conclusion of the factors that affect the productivity of tuna fishing business are fishing costs, fishing experience, frequency of fishing and ship tonnage. The use of fishing costs, frequency of fishing, and ship tonnage used by fishermen still has not reached the allocatively efficient level. The average production cost per year incurred is still relatively high, not proportional to the profit earned each year. This is because the biggest cost incurred is the cost of diesel fuel.

Abstract

Abstract

In intensive shrimp farming systems, apart from feed, the presence of plankton is an important factor in shrimp farming as a tropic level in waters where the main producers in the waters are phytoplankton. The nature of plankton in the waters is not only beneficial but also detrimental. The condition of a waters will also affect the pattern of distribution or distribution of plankton both horizontally and vertically, so that it will affect the abundance of plankton which in turn will affect the value of primary productivity. This study aims to determine the ratio of plankton abundance and water conditions to the growth performance of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) organisms. The method used in this research is descriptive using the sampling method. The analysis was carried out in the form of abundance of plankton species and water physico-chemical parameters (temperature, pH, salinity, DO, ammonia, nitrate and nitrite). The results obtained found 5 classes of plankton (chlorophyta, cyanophyta, diatoms, dinoflagellate, zooplankton) with varying abundances where the highest abundance was found in classes and cyanophyta. Water quality is still within normal limits for vannamei shrimp growth.

Abstract

Squid is one of the leading export commodities whose potential availability is monitored by the government. This research aims to evaluate the status of squid utilization as a consideration for the sustainability of squid-based smoke processing businesses in Prigi Regency. The analysis used in this research is Gordon-Scheafer bioeconomics. The fishing gear used to catch squid includes 1-boat ring seine, 2-boat ring seine, gill net, paying, trolling line and hand line. The average production of squid commodities from 2014-2022 is 26,396 kg, with a standard effort of 340 yearly trips. Prigi PPN squid fishing activities are economic and biological overfishing because the real average fishing effort exceeds the sum of MEY and MSY efforts. The level of squid utilization tends to approach over-exploited and exceeds 17.5% of the allowable catch. This condition can affect the fulfilment of production needs for processed squid smoke.
