Abstract

Abstract

The post-Islamization transformation of the Kaili tribe in Central Sulawesi led to significant changes in traditional rituals, especially Pompoura and Disaster Prevention, originally based on animism. This study explores the tribe's adaptation to Islamic influences while balancing the preservation of ancestral traditions and the tension it caused with traditional elders. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, the research involved in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results indicate that these rituals have been reinterpreted to align with Islamic teachings while maintaining social elements that reinforce community solidarity. This study provides practical contributions to religious leaders and traditional figures in managing cultural change, offering solutions that balance religious values and local traditions. Future research directions could explore other communities to broaden the scope and delve deeper into similar cultural resistance dynamics, focusing on cultural and religious negotiations to create innovative solutions that balance tradition and modernity.

Abstract

A child's development, particularly in terms of motoric skills, is most formative during the first few years of life. One approach that is considered effective in optimizing children's motoric development is nature-based learning, which utilizes the natural environment as the main learning medium. This study aims to explore the dynamics of nature-based learning in developing early childhood motoric skills through literature studies. Articles, books, and scientific documents produced between 2015 and 2024 are reviewed in a literature review using a qualitative descriptive methodology. This study found that children's fine and gross motoric skills, as well as their social and emotional development, can benefit from learning in natural settings. However, its implementation in Indonesia still faces challenges, especially related to parents' perceptions of child safety and the limitations of teachers' creativity in designing outdoor activities. This study provides active support from parents and increasing teacher capacity as an effort to optimize nature-based learning in early childhood education.

Abstract

This research examines the existence and dynamics of the Jewish community in Indonesia, which has deep historical roots dating back to the arrival of early European explorers and settlers. The Jewish community in Indonesia is unique and rarely discussed in the context of the country's religious plurality. Despite their relatively small numbers compared to the majority religion, their existence brings important perspectives on assimilation and identity dynamics. This research fills a knowledge gap by investigating the specific dynamics of the Jewish community in the context of assimilation and identity, expanding the understanding of the history of antisemitism and representation as well as Jewish national loyalties and identity in Indonesia. Through qualitative methods and a case study approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis to capture the historical perspectives and adaptations of the community. The results show that the Jewish community, although small, has successfully assimilated while maintaining their religious and cultural identity in a social environment dominated by other religions. This research provides new insights into the study of religious plurality, particularly in the context of Muslim-majority Indonesia. It illustrates how assimilation and identity preservation can occur simultaneously, offering a more complex and dynamic perspective than previously recognized. The findings also emphasize the importance of interfaith education and interreligious dialogue as factors that influence the ability of religious minorities to maintain their identities. The results of this study have significant implications for the understanding of religious diversity in Indonesia and how small communities can contribute to the national discourse. The theoretical benefits of the findings enrich the study of religious minority dynamics in plural societies, highlighting that flexibility and adaptation are important aspects in the survival of religious and cultural identities. Practically, the findings can inform the development of more inclusive policies that protect the rights of religious and faith minorities in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research explores the transformation in Indonesia's religious courts triggered by the current development of digital technology. A particular focus is given to how digitization affects efficiency and access to justice, particularly in remote areas. Despite improvements in the application of technology, there remains a knowledge gap regarding the social impact and inclusiveness of digitization in religious justice practice. The methodology used was qualitative with an analytical descriptive approach focusing on the study of relevant literature to gain a comprehensive understanding. The results showed that digitization has improved the efficiency of the judicial process and facilitated effective and efficient access to legal information, however there are significant infrastructure and digital literacy challenges. The findings highlight that while digitization provides benefits in accelerating case handling, gaps in digital access and literacy are major barriers to its implementation. The implication is that there is a need for improved digital infrastructure and literacy, as well as training for stakeholders to effectively integrate digital technology in the religious justice system in Indonesia.
