Abstract

Character education is an effort to form the habit of doing good, so that in carrying out character education, polite character values are also needed. This study aims to determine the constraints and barriers to the school's role in shaping the polite character of SD Adinda Surabaya students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method that aims to define and explain how the role of the school in shaping the character of student manners. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and questionnaires. From the results of the data obtained then analyzed, that the school's role in shaping the polite character of SD Adinda Surabaya students, the school as a facilitator by providing character values and understanding to students through habituation activities programs for students, as well as being a role model in polite character . There are supporting and inhibiting factors in shaping the polite character of students including: support for the participation of school members including principals, teachers, employees and students, lack of support from parents and family, daily student friendship groups that are not conducive

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the habituation stage of the school literacy movement, the inhibiting factors, supporting factors, the positive impact of the habituation stage of the school literacy movement in increasing students' reading interest in grade 4A SDN Kalisian VII Surabaya. This type of research is qualitative research with data collection techniques, namely interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation and conclusions or data verification. The results of the research at SDN Kaliasin VII Surabaya, namely the implementation of the habituation stage of the school literacy movement is carried out every day before learning begins. The inhibiting factors for the implementation of literacy activities at the habituation stage include: (1) Limitations on updating reading books, (2) students are not yet fluent in reading, (3) There is no reading area in the school environment. The supporting factors for the implementation of literacy activities at the habituation stage are there is a literacy team, the role of the teacher or homeroom teacher, there is a display board as a place for student appreciation, the library and classrooms are equipped with technology and a class reading corner as well as a library of various sources of reading books. The positive impacts of implementing literacy activities at the habituation stage include: (1) making students dare to appear in front of the class, (2) increasing visits to the library and using the library as a place to do school work, (3) student achievement in participating in competitions based on literacy and outside literacy.

Abstract

Misconceptions are misunderstandings in connecting a concept with other concepts between existing concepts and conceptions that have been understood by the teacher so that the wrong concept is formed and the different conceptions are passed on to students. In order to avoid conceptual errors, it is very important to understand the profile of the conception that occurs in the teacher first. The purpose of this research is to describe elementary school teachers' conception of science on certain science concepts. This study describes the sources of teacher misconceptions that are the cause of teacher misconceptions. The research method used is quantitative descriptive. This research includes exploratory research. In this study using a quantitative approach. The research target was 24 people. The data collection technique is through the Three Tier Test and interviews. The data analysis technique uses the Three Tier Test decision making rubric with percentage calculations then distributed into the conception profile table. Based on the result of research that has been done shows that the teachers’ conception of Yapita Surabaya Elementary School students had misconceptions about certain science concepts by 12.04% of the 20 concept items answered while teachers who understood the concepts were only 5.41% and conceptions that did not understand by 2.54%. Sources of conceptual errors in teachers that are the cause of misconceptions are the teacher’s interaction experience from the surrounding environment, the initial conception does not master the concept, and the textbook media used is not relevant to the concept. Thus it can be concluded that there is a misconception in the teacher’s conception caused by a concept that is misunderstood so that it is not in accordance with the facts

Abstract

The conception profile is the distribution of students based on the conditions: Mastering the concept, Not mastering the concept, and experiencing misconceptions. While the profile of the science conception is a description of the students' conceptions of science learning in terms of science concepts. The purpose of this study was to determine the science conception profile of fifth grade students at SDN Penjaringan Sari II. Data collection techniques using observation, filling out tests and documentation. The data obtained was analyzed and then refined by grouping the degree of understanding of the concept and then calculating the percentage based on the decision making of the Three Tier Test. The results of this study indicate that the percentage of students in the category of not understanding the concept is higher than the category of understanding concepts and misconceptions. The low level of understanding of concepts possessed by students may be caused by 2 factors, namely students who do not understand the concept or students who experience misconceptions. The 5 factors that cause misconceptions in students according to Suparno (2013) include: Students, Teachers/Teachers, Textbooks, Context, Teaching methods
