Abstract

Batamat al-Qur'an is one of several important rituals in the life of Urang Banjar. The Banjarese people commonly perceive Batamat al-Qur'an as a meaningful celebration for their generation, it shows a successful aspect of mastering the holy book al-Qur'an. However, some of the previous local values or pre-Islamic traditions still colorize the process of Batamat al-Qur'an. The previous local value is considered to have positive impacts in Batamat al-Qur’an tradition. The findings of this study, which used a qualitative-descriptive approach, show that the dialectic between the Islamic religion and local culture raises a new meaning and a new contribution form in the life of the Banjarese people. Although Batamat al-Qur'an is a ritual that emphasizes the personal responsibility of Muslims to their God, this tradition has become a ritual that concerns with social aspect wherein the community, residents, and families involve together in Batamat al-Qur'an process.

A water crisis can be in terms of quantity and quality. The water quantity crisis solutions are divided into two major points. First, optimization of water management (Q.S. al-Ra'd/13: 17) which can be done through saving water (Q.S. al-Isrâ`/17: 26-27, Q.S. al-A'râf/7: 31) and making waterways or drainage (Q.S. Hûd/11: 44). Second, even water distribution (Q.S. al-Qamar/54: 28, Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 60. Q.S. al-A'râf/7: 160) through the creation of water distribution reservoirs (Q.S. al-Zumar/39: 21) and prohibition of water privatization (Q.S. al-Hijr/15: 22). Meanwhile, the water quality crisis solutions are implied in the Qur'an and supported by scientific theory in five respects. Abstract

Religion fosters diversity and gives rise to religious phenomena in society, which are inseparable from the influence of surrounding realities, including the work environment, such as that of market traders. As spiritual beings, they are obligated to fulfill divine commands. Observing their religious practices offers insight into the emergence of these phenomena. This study employs field research with a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing a phenomenological perspective on religion. Traders view their efforts as a means of receiving sustenance, yet they believe that sustenance is not solely determined by their endeavors but also by Allah’s decree. Therefore, while conducting business, traders consistently pray and nurture their relationship with Allah. In their daily lives, some traders at Senaken Market leave their stalls to perform obligatory prayers (salat fard) at the market prayer room. During trading hours, they engage in practices such as dhikr (remembrance of Allah), reciting prayers, and giving charity. Additionally, some traders form groups to conduct regular religious activities weekly or during Islamic holidays. These activities help enhance their religious understanding, draw them closer to Allah, and strengthen the bonds of friendship among Senaken Market traders.

Abstract

The study of religious moderation seems to be a wave today. In the framework of higher education, although studies on religious moderation have been widely carried out in the last few decades, studies on religious moderation are still limited to the program activities, roles, and efforts made by PTKIN. This study wants to know the success of these programs and efforts by looking at the level of understanding of Ma'had al-Jāmi’ah UIN Antasari students in describing religious moderation. This study aimed to determine the understanding of Mahasantri and the factors influencing their knowledge of religious moderation. This qualitative descriptive field study shows the results that mahasantri's understanding of religious moderation can be categorized into several key concepts; religious moderation is: 1) the Middle Way, fair and balanced; 2) it is not rigid and fanaticism in religion; 3) it is the one that is not exaggerating, 4) it does not impose its beliefs on others, 5) Religious Moderation is a Process and Tolerance is a result of it. At the level of understanding, mahasantri’s understanding is not only at the first level of understanding (translation), but their understanding has also entered the second and third levels of understanding, namely interpretation, and extrapolation.
