Abstract

In addition to models, methods, and media, another aspect that is also very important in social studies is teaching material. As an essential element in the learning process, teaching materials must have adequate quality. Accordingly, this article is intended to offer a literature overview of oral traditions as material development for social studies in junior high schools, as well as to design conceptual models related to their application. This article is a conceptual article compiled based on the results of literature studies (books, journals, etc.) and document analysis (Core Competencies, Basic Competencies, Syllabus, etc.). There are three findings offered by this article. First, oral tradition is a potential source to be developed into social studies in junior high schools as it contains values of local wisdom and moral teachings which are relevant to the vision of social studies, namely as civic education. Also, oral traditions, which are part of anthropology and history, share the same nature to social study materials-combination of social science disciplines. Second, from several oral tradition variants, the most potent type to be inserted in social study materials are traditional expressions, folk poetry, folklore, and folk songs-by considering three things, namely: a) curriculum relevance; b) richness in value content; c) school environment-related issues. Third, three stages can be done in developing oral traditions as teaching materials, namely: a) analysis stage (identification of oral tradition and its relevance to curriculum); b) design and development stage (determining the form and structure of teaching materials required); and c) implementation stage.DOI: 10.17977/um022v5i12020p051

The results of the study indicate that: 1) Anti-corruption values in the local wisdom of the Pasemah and Serawai Bengkulu communities can be found in several objects/cultures, especially in oral traditions (traditional expressions, folk prose stories, and folk songs), rites or traditions and customs, and traditional games or sports; 2) Anti-corruption values contained in oral traditions are the values of honesty, responsibility, discipline, hard work, simplicity, independence, caring and fairness. Of the eight values, the two most dominant values are honesty and simplicity. Meanwhile, the anti-corruption values contained in traditions or rites are the values of care and responsibility. As for the anti-corruption values contained in traditional games or sports are honesty, discipline, hard work, and independence. Abstract

This article aims to explain the modernization that occurred in Aceh during the Dutch colonial era and the diversity that emerged as a result of modernization, as well as to explain the relations between ethnic groups in Aceh during the Dutch colonial era, especially between the Acehnese and Minangkabau ethnic groups. This research is a library research with a descriptive analysis type. Modernization in Aceh during the Dutch colonial era occurred in at least three aspects, namely infrastructure modernization, especially highways and railways, economic modernization marked by the opening of large-scale plantations and educational modernization. The modernization of infrastructure, economy and education carried out by the Dutch in Aceh has caused a wave of migration from outside Aceh, thus having an impact on increasing ethnic diversity in Aceh. Relations between ethnic groups, especially between Acehnese and Minangkabau, have not been good, where there is negative prejudice from Acehnese people towards Minangkabau people due to historical prejudice factors, discrimination and excessive feelings of superiority.

The purpose of this study is to examine the form of local knowledge values in Gulai Umbut Undak Tapeghan Ikan. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a cultural anthropology approach. Data collection was conducted through interviews and observations by observing the process of collecting ingredients such as umbut in the forest and fish in the river. Data analysis was carried out by sorting information based on the concept of local wisdom. The results of the study show that the local knowledge values contained in Gulai Umbut Undak Tapeghan Ikan are evident in the knowledge of the process of searching for raw ingredients for gulai, the skills involved in the process of cooking gulai, and the social integration created by the serving of gulai in the Mangkal Luagh tradition. The social integration of this food is evident when it is served in the Mangkal Luagh tradition. Gulai Umbut is a mandatory and special dish that must be made in every home as a requirement for the Mangkal Luagh tradition so that guests can try the local specialty.
