Abstract

This research aimed to present how white supremacy was represented in 13th by Ava DuVernay and BlacKkKlansman by Spike Lee and to identify and analyse how the characters in 13th by Ava DuVernay and BlacKkKlansman by Spike Lee deal with the racist system. According to Abrams literary criticism is a method to describe events in the film. Seek to understand and interpret the meaning of an event of human behaviour interaction in a particular situation according to the researcher's perspective. Research that literary criticism aimed to understand the literary object under study in depth. The method used was to explore sources of information and data in the form of popular literature, which is films. Using a postcolonial approach, both films had a theme of racism, and also white supremacy in the USA. The issue of racism and white supremacy has resurfaced after more and more cases of racism by white people against black people. The characters in both films find racism from white people, they will try to fight against racism with various kinds of struggles. Keywords: postcolonialism, racism, white supremacy

Abstract

Along with the times, the implementation of tolerance must continue to increase, starting with growing knowledge and implementing it. Among these elements are members of the legislature who have policies that play a significant role in political communication with their constituents. This study aims to examine the knowledge of DPRD members in the West Java region regarding religious tolerance, the political communication of DPRD members in the West Java region regarding religious tolerance policies, and formulate a model of political communication carried out by DPRD members in the West Java region in a policy of religious tolerance. Using qualitative research methods, this study used interview data collection techniques. The conclusion is that DPRD members in the West Java region have extensive knowledge about religious tolerance, the political communication of DPRD members in the West Java region is quite complete involving internal and external political communication, and the model of political communication developed is making regional regulations, monitoring, and creating rules budgeting for religious tolerance programs. The impact of the research results is expected to increase religious tolerance in the West Java region and inspire DPRD members in other areas to increase knowledge and political communication regarding religious tolerance.

Abstract

This study analyses the portrayal of Social Class and Class Struggle in The Hunger Games (2012) through a Marxist lens. In The Hunger Games, Panem is depicted as having a dual-class social structure. The Capitol is the representative of the bourgeoisie, while District 12 is the representative of the proletariat. The Capitol, as the proprietor of the mode of production, possesses both wealth and power. The objective is to empower them to pursue their desired course of action. In action District 12, the lower classes are characterized by a state of profound destitution. These individuals are constrained in their ability to engage in meaningful work, and as a result, they are compelled to rely on the bourgeoisie for their subsistence. The use of this method qualitative descriptive method to analyze Social Class and Class Struggle in The Hunger Games (2012). This approach allows for detailed examination of visual elements, dialogue, character relationships, and narrative structure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning system in Islamic boarding schools from the perspective of source credibility theory in building the authority of Ajengan. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with a case study conducted at Sirojul Huda Islamic Boarding School in Bandung Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation. The findings indicate that the Ajengan's deep understanding of religious knowledge, expertise in delivering religious teachings, authority, and respectful communication style influence the students' perception of Ajengan's credibility as an authoritative communicator. The implications of this research highlight the importance of strengthening Ajengan's authority through the development of a learning system that emphasizes source credibility, interpersonal communication, and considers students' perceptions as learners.
