Abstract

Akademisi sastra kadang banyak yang melihat film dengan sebelah mata. Maksud saya, perlakukan film layaknya film. Memang seperti halnya puisi, film disampaikan melalui pesan simbolis, majasi atau bahasa figuratif lainnya. Seperti halnya drama, film disampaikan melalui bahasa visual dan verbal. Seperti prosa, film juga sarat dengan elemen naratif. Namun tidak seperti genre sastra tersebut, film memiliki bahasa yang khas, yakni bahasa visual. Selain elemen naratif dan figuratif, film memiliki elemen sinematik atau bahasa visual yang menjadikannya perlu diperlakukan lebih dari pada genre sastra tertulis lainnya. Pada penelitian ini, Peneliti akan menyelisik keterkaitan naratif dan sinematik dalam film Sebelah (2011) karya Reza Rahadian melalui pendekatan tekstual dan genre. Bagaimana sisi naratif dan sisi sinematik secara bersama-sama mampu  menyampaikan sebuah pesan dan membentuk tema genre

Abstract

This study examined the hostile cues in the Avengers: Endgame film. The semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce is used in the debate. It focused on two problem formulations: the type of semiotic sign by highlighting the hostile sign present in the film, and the sign's meaning. Aims of this study was to identify the various hostile semiotic cues present in the film as well as how a film communicates a message that can be applied to daily life. Then, it has significant ideals that can inspire and make reference to societal reality. The study examines a variety of materials, including interview transcripts, social science texts, and narrative-style films, television shows, and periodicals. It does this using a qualitative research methodology called content analysis. In order to be interpreted afterwards, hostile cues from the actors are gathered and grouped. The findings demonstrate that when the Avengers are prepared to make sacrifices in order to battle and defend the universe in order to defeat evil, indicators of animosity are visible. Keywords: semiotics, sign, meaning, hostility, movie

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang terminologi sastra terkait formula penceritaan dan fungsi sasakala Sunda dalam kumpulan dongeng Ki Umbara. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka melalui pendekatan tekstual dengan cara analisa isi dari teks. Hasil dari analisa yakni sasakala Sunda dalam kumpulan dongeng Ki Umbara memiliki formula cerita yang berpola atau berumus. Pola tersebut yakni mulai dari orientasi awal, dilanjutkan pada konflik sederhana yang bersifat klise, dan diakhiri dengan resolusi pralogis. Selain itu, dari tataran fungsi, sasakala Sunda dalam kumpulan dongeng Ki Umbara berfungsi sebagai hiburan atau pelipur lara. Hal tersebut tergambar dari isi dan resolusi yang bersifat polos, lugu, dan cenderung lelucon.

Abstract

This research focuses on finding the action patter of hard-boiled detective formula and its effect to the main character in The Batman (2022) movie by Matt Reeves using John G. Cawelti theory of hard-boiled detective formula, the action pattern of hard-boiled detective formula was detective as a hero, suspense and threat, a modern city as a background, the role of women and changing meaning Furthermore, this research used the qualitative descriptive method. This method aims to examine text and image data, have unique steps in data analysis and draw on diverse designs. This method was used to analyze the data from the visual and narrative standpoint because those elements can be represented through both of them. The result of this research is the representation of Hard-boiled detective formula in The Batman movie. The action pattern were presented in the form of narrative structure especially on plot, characters, and dialogue. Those elements can have effects to the main character development, for example a modern city as a background depicted the corruption, and death, a moral wasteland in which crime pre dominants.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to (1) describe the ecranisation process in terms of plot reduction and (2) explain the function of the ecranisation process that appears in the plot of James Baldwin's novel If Beale Street Could Talk (1974) to the film If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) by Barry Jenkins. This study employs ecranisation theory by Eneste (1991) to analyze the transformation from novel into Film If Beale Street Could Talk. Descriptive qualitative data analysis was employed in this study. Data collecting methods based on a review of the literature because the medium utilized to create novels and films are different, the results of this study show that the ecranisation process happens in the plot. The reduction of plot from components that aren't as crucial for display causes a general reduction.

Abstract

Magic is a concept used to describe the power that comes from supernatural powers to make impossible things happen, make people disappear or even control natural events. As time goes by, magic has developed to be the theme in literature. One of theme is TV series: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The writer focuses the analysis on the rites that occur in this series. The writer used Marcell Mauss’s theory that was written in his book A General Theory of Magic. From his book, it can be seen that they are several things that the witch must prepare when they want to do the rites such as time, place and many more. A descriptive qualitative by Creswell was used in this study. The result from this study is when the witchcraft wanted to do the rite, they must prepare the time, place, materials and incantation. The different rite has a different purpose and also different things that they must prepare.

Abstract

This study aimed to study cinematography elements presented in Gabriele Muccino’s The Pursuit of Happiness (2006). To analyse the object of the research, it used cinematography theory by Blain Brown. The study used descriptive qualitative research design. Drama genre is one of the biggest and popular genre in the movie industry, since it shares some empathy, hopes, aspirations, dreams and fears (Editors, 2018). It focused on analysing the dramatic aspect through cinematography using Gabriele Muccino’s The Pursuit of Happiness (2006) movie. The study found that many cinematography elements in Gabriele Muccino’s The Pursuit of Happiness (2006) are proven using dramatic aspect from both lighting and camera technique. In conclusion, the movie shows a drama genre movie which has cinematography elements that need to be added to deliver the emotion of the story and to increase dramatic elements in the movie. Keywords: cinematography, genre, drama

Abstract

Masculinity is the characteristics that are traditionally thought to be typical of or suitable for men. This research attempts to discuss a character's masculinity in The Barbie 2023 Film. To specify the research, the researcher divided this analysis into two research questions, they are: 1) What are the elements of masculinity depicted in The 2023 Barbie Film? 2) How is the depiction of stereotypical masculinity in The 2023 Barbie Film? Masculinity in Barbie 2023 is very interesting to discuss because it can be identified from various elements contained in the film, in this case the identification of masculinity can be seen from how the characters in this film behave, the instrinsic elements implied in the film, the setting, and also other things that illustrate how the elements of masculinity are contained in the film. The results of this study found two findings, namely the first is what elements of masculinity are found in this film in the form of how the character Ken has an athletic posture that strongly shows elements of masculinity and in several scenes in the film shows masculinity, then the findings of other stereotypes of masculinity that the author managed to identify from the dialog, character acting, setting, or atmosphere that is contained in this film.

Abstract

Film is a field of study that is very relevant to the analysis of human values, one of which is the value of masculinity. This study was conducted to determine the masculinity presented through language signs, verbal and non-verbal signs in the film Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them (2016). The analysis technique used in this study is descriptive qualitative which refers to the female character character approach in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) through the analysis of masculinity John Archer and Barbara Lloyd.Based on this level and the results of this study, researchers see that the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) provides an overview of the forms of masculinity, according to the concept of stereotype masculinity that is closely related and cannot be separated from the patriarchy culture and try to change the main stereotype In this film that women do not have to be at home and do not have the right to argue, but brave and firm in doing something or in making decisions. Women's masculinity is described not only about the style of dress or physically but through logical thinking and has a high leadership spirit.

Abstract

Drama hadir dimana-mana termasuk dalam dunia pendidikan. Artikel ini membahas tentang transformasi drama dari panggung fisik ke digitalisasi visual dan pengaruhnya terhadap proses kreativitas siswa di era digital dan memahami spektakel sebagai unsur penting dalam drama. Dengan metode analisis konten terhadap media visual, aplikasi Simulasi Adegan Elektronik (SAE) dikenalkan dan dideskripsikan dalam memproduksi pertunjukan teater digital. Dalam produksi teater apapun, ide teknis dan naskah drama saling melengkapi dan dibutuhkan untuk menciptakan karya seni yang unik dan bermakna. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa teknologi dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami unsur-unsur dramatis khususnya unsur spektakel. Proses pemahaman spektakel ini juga secara tidak langsung berdampak pada proses kreativitas dan inovasi siswa. Kata Kunci: Kreativitas, Drama, Spektakel, Teater, Simulasi Adegan Elektronik
