Abstract

Pembelajaran abad 21 merupakan barometer pengajaran bahasa Inggris saat ini karena pengajar dituntut untuk mampu menggali potensi keterampilan komunikasi siswa. Keterampilan berbicara dengan bahasa Inggris menjadi urgensi di era digital dengan keterbukaan informasi dan internasionalisasi di bidang pendidikan, industry dan ekonomi. Lembaga kursus bahasa Inggris merupakan pilihan tempat belajar bahasa Inggris bagi siswa Indonesia karena lembaga kursus menawarkan kelas sesuai dengan tingkat pengetahuan dan relevanasi kebutuhan siswa. Namun, tutor bahasa Inggris Yayasan SAS ANA Group masih mengalami kesulitan dalam merancang lembar kerja speaking siswa. Lembar kerja merupakan alat yang digunakan pengajar untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan siswa. Untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan ini, tim pengabdian menawarkan pelatihan pembuatan lembar kerja speaking siswa dengan metode communicative approach dan diskusi. Tahap pelaksanana terdiri dari; sosialisasi, small group discussion, dan demonstrasi. Kemudian, angket dan lembar observasi digunakan untuk mengukur ketercapaian pelatihan ini. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, keterampilan pembuatan lembar kerja speaking seluruh tutor bahasa Inggris Yayasan SAS ANA meningkat secara signifikan. Kegiatan ini berdampak terhadap pemahaman mereka secara teoritikal dan praktikal dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran inovatif berdasarkan barometer pembelajaran abad 21.

Abstract

Gatrell, et.al, and School Graduate wrote books containing how to write for a thesis, and dissertation. A book titled A Research Design and Proposal Writing in Spatial Science, Second Edition by Gatrell, et.all has a simple and complete explanation so that it is easy to understand and apply to final writing. Also, the book is supplemented with examples of several interesting titles to be the reference of the research authors, by explaining direct examples in explain background writing, survey libraries, research methods, how to explain the data used quantitative or qualitative to how to manage data correctly. The book How to Prepare Thesis Proposal A Guide for MPhil and PhD Students by School Graduates only explains the general lines of the chapters contained in a thesis. It was concluded that the book written by Gatrell, et.al was more dynamic in accordance with the needs of today’s academics since it also provides the components of crafting research grant fund proposal.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan sikap mahasiswa Indonesia terhadap berbicara bahasa Inggris sehari-hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif sebagai desain penelitian. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al- Washliyah Medan. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah empat mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris yang telah belajar Bahasa Inggris selama dua tahun dengan pengalaman berbeda. Terdapat 2 siswa yang aktif di kelas dan 2 siswa kurang aktif di kelas. Data dikumpulkan dari wawancara sebagai sumber utama dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis tematik untuk menganalisis temuan data. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah tingkat analisis, pertanyaan terus-menerus, pemilihan informasi dan khususnya penyorotan sebagai sikap utama mahasiswa Indonesia terhadap berbicara bahasa Inggris sehari-hari.

Abstract

Project-based Learning is the most appropriate teaching method suggested in Curriculum 2013. It consistsed of effective methods and integrated processes that assist vocational school students in overcome their English-learning difficulties. The problems in SMK SWASTA Dwi Tunggal 1 are English-speaking Materials for Broadcasting students are not specific, not integrated with Project-based Learning completely. The objective of the research is To increase the students English speaking skill. The subjects of the research consisted of 16 students. This research was categorized as research and development. It was undertaken to develop English-Speaking material for Broadcasting Major. In this research, the design of research that has been applied is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). the result of computation in N-Gain test, the average was 0.731, that means normal index criteria of N-Gain are accepted. Because it was higher than 0.7. So, the researcher concluded that developing English speaking materials by implementing project-based learning for broadcasting students is effective. It can be seen from the result of the means improvement between pre-test and post-test in class X from broadcasting major in SMK Dwi Tunggal. the mean of pre-test was 59.6 and the mean post-test was 89. Because of the pre-test was higher than post-test, so the model that applied in class X in developing English speaking materials is a good model and affect students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

Authentic Assessment with the Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) approach offers comprehensive and thorough evaluations so that students can receive significant feedback. However, the implementation of Authentic Assessment with the ICC approach is still rarely carried out by English teachers at Yayasan SAS ANA Group because the teachers still use conventional assessments. This community service activity aims to enhance the understanding of English tutors in implementing Authentic Assessment with the ICC approach in English teaching. carried out systematically through the following stages: socialization, initial questionnaire completion, delivery of material using a communicative and tutorial approach, assessment creation practice, small group discussions, and continuous evaluation and mentoring. The survey results indicate a significant improvement in their understanding related to planning, interpretation, application, performance, and evaluation of assessments using the ICC approach

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan rasa cinta terhadap keberagaman budaya Indonesia melalui penggunaan media flip-book dan pop-up book pada anak-anak di lingkungan panti asuhan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Yayasan Panti Asuhan Febrian Berkat Karunia, Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri atas empat tahap, yaitu persiapan, sosialisasi, demonstrasi media, dan evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman serta apresiasi anak-anak terhadap keberagaman budaya setelah menggunakan media interaktif tersebut. Selain itu, ditemukan pula dampak positif dalam aspek kognitif, motorik halus, emosional, hingga penguatan identitas budaya anak-anak. Media flip-book dan pop-up book terbukti efektif sebagai alat bantu edukatif yang menarik, interaktif, dan mampu memperkaya pengalaman belajar tentang keberagaman budaya Indonesia secara menyenangkan dan bermakna.

Abstract

Improving the quality of English learning in high schools is an ongoing priority to produce graduates with strong moral character and linguistic competence. This study aimed to develop English teaching materials based on advice poetry and evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing students’ moral character and English language skills. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) model proposed by Borg & Gall, encompassing preliminary studies, material design, and evaluation phases. The sample consisted of 120 high school students, selected through purposive sampling, who participated in the intervention. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to measure the statistical significance of learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the developed materials. The findings indicate that the developed teaching materials align with students’ needs, adhere to curriculum standards, and meet criteria for readability, clarity, and graphical presentation. Quantitative analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes, with average scores increasing from 65.4 (pre-test) to 82.7 (post-test) (p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 1.2), indicating a large effect size. Additionally, qualitative feedback showed that students were highly enthusiastic about the learning process, citing increased engagement and understanding of moral values embedded in the advice poetry. This study concludes that (1) the developed teaching materials are effective in improving both moral character and English language competence, and (2) students show positive attitudes toward poetry-based learning. The study recommends that educators incorporate advice poetry into English teaching materials to foster holistic student development. Future research could explore other literary genres or expand the sample size to generalize findings across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This present study aims to discuss Willingness to Communicate (WTC) practices by Indonesian EFL students in tertiary level. activity of EFL students carrying out WTC practices. The idea of WTC becomes the influential factors underlying EFL students’ involvement and participation with in the certain topics and certain situation. This study applied qualitative research method with thematic analysis approach, and two participants with specific criteria were chosen to answer the semi-structure interview. The emerging data was classified to drawing two themes; engaging with others in the classroom, and engaging with others outside the classroom. Abstract

Penurunan hasil belajar siswa pada materi Sumber Daya Alam disebabkan oleh rendahnya keterlibatan siswa akibat pendekatan pembelajaran konvensional yang kurang mendukung berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantu kuis interaktif pada siswa kelas V SDN 060788 Medan Maimun. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan, baik dari sisi nilai rata-rata maupun ketuntasan belajar siswa. Rata-rata nilai siswa meningkat dari 56,11 pada pra siklus menjadi 71,67 pada siklus I dan 81,94 pada siklus II. Sementara itu, ketuntasan belajar meningkat dari 44,44% menjadi 83,33%. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan guru untuk mengintegrasikan model pembelajaran PBL dan media kuis interaktif sebagai strategi inovatif dalam pembelajaran IPAS untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang aktif, menyenangkan, dan bermakna.
