Abstract

Administratively, the research location is in Pilobuhuta Village, Batudaa District, Gorontalo Regency, with an area of 4.8 KM². Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed from calcium carbonate deposits. These rocks are often found in various areas, including in Pilobuhuta Village, Batudaa District, Gorontalo Regency. The Pilobuhuta area has unique geological conditions, with hills that have the potential to be a location for limestone formation. Research on the characteristics of limestone in this area to identify the mineral composition, structure, and texture of existing rocks, as well as to determine the porosity value of limestone in this area. The aim of this research is to map the geological conditions of the Pilobuhuta area and its surroundings, analyze the characteristics of limestone, and analyze the porosity value of limestone in the research area. The research method used is surface geological mapping and porosity analysis in the form of petrographic analysis and specific gravity analysis. The research results show that the research area consists of four limestone facies units, namely mudstone facies, wackestone facies, packstone facies, and grainstone facies. The geomorphological units in this area are divided into two land forms, namely alluvial lowland units and denudational hills. The porosity value of the limestone in the research area ranges from fair to very good. The porosity value in the mudstone facies is in the fair category, the wackestone facies is in the good category, the packstone facies is in the very good category, and the grainstone facies is in the fair category.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Pancakarsa II Village, Taluditi Subdistrict, Pohuwato Regency. The Objective of this study is to determine the distribution and characteristics of sandstone in the research area. The method employed includes surface geological mapping to identify the geological conditions of the area and comprises alluvial plain units, pyroclastic flow hill units, and denudational hill units. The stratigraphy, arranged from oldest, to youngest, consists of the Gravel Sandstone unit, the Sandstone unit, the Muddy Sandstone unit, and the Pyroclastic Breccia unit. Geological structures were analyzed using lineament analysis, revealing a predominant northeast-southwest structural orientation.the sandstone distribution in the study area shows that the Gravel Sandstone unit occupies approximately 14%, the Sandstone unit is 19%, and the Muddy Sandstone unit is 17%. Petrographic analysis based on mineral composition percentages indicates that sample ST1 is classified as Lithic Arenite, while samples ST7 and ST29 are classified as Lithic Greywacke.

Abstract

The research location is in the Dulukapa Area, East Sumalata District, North Gontalo Regency. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of Dulukapa Formation sandstone based on petrographic analysis. The research methods used are geological mapping and petrographic laboratory analysis. The results of the study indicate that the distribution of Dolokapa formation sandstone in the Dulukapa area is spread from west to east of Dulukapa Village. The type of sandstone is classified based on the results of gravel, sand, and clay calculations, namely Gravel Sandstone, Sandstone, and Muddy Sandstone. The results of the petrographic analysis indicate that the type of sandstone consists of Lithic Arenite and Lithic Graywacke.

Abstract

The community in Bonedaa Village and its surroundings possesses untapped natural resource potential. This community service aims to enhance public understanding of local geological conditions and natural resources through participatory geological mapping. The methods applied include field education, group discussions, and training on rock and geological structure identification. The results show an increased awareness among residents regarding local rock types, construction material potential, and geological hazards such as landslides and erosion. Participatory mapping produced a simplified geological map useful for village-level planning and decision-making. This activity demonstrates that geological approaches can contribute directly to sustainable resource management and disaster risk reduction. The outcomes are significant in promoting community resilience and independence based on local potential.

Abstract

Abstract

The research area is in Block O Bunta Region, Banggai Regency. The research area includes areas with laterite nickel deposits in Central Sulawesi Province. Based on the Luwuk Sheet Geological Map, the Bunta area is included in the Ku Formation (Ultramafic Complex) composed of serpentinite, gabbro, basalt, and schist rocks. The aim of this study was to analyze the characteristics of laterite nickel deposits in Block O, Bunta Region, Banggai Regency. To achieve this goal, several research methods were carried out, namely field geological survey methods and laboratory analysis. The field geological survey includes detailed geological mapping and coring drilling data collection. The field geological survey includes observations of rocks and geomorphology of the study area. Meanwhile, laboratory analysis includes coring data analysis. The total drilling samples analyzed came from 40 drill points. The results and discussion show that the geomorphology of the study area is classified into denudational hill units. The lithology in the study area based on the analysis results is serpentinized peridotite. The characteristics of nickel laterite deposits in the study area consist of limonite and saprolite zones. The limote zone has a characteristic reddish brown color dominated by hematite minerals and yellowish brown dominated by goethith minerals. While the saprolite zone is dominated by a greenish-yellow color with its constituent minerals namely serpentine, goethith, silica.

Abstract

The southern coast of Gorontalo has complex geological conditions. This is indicated by the strong tectonic influence with the uplift of the Quaternary limestone at high elevations. The distribution of this limestone is very unique because it is located between the dominance of volcanic and plutonic rocks that form the northern arm of Sulawesi. The purpose of this study was to focus on the characteristics of limestone on the south coast of Gorontalo based on specific gravity and water absorption tests. The research methods used to achieve these objectives consist of field geological surveys and laboratory analysis of the specific gravity and water absorption tests of coarse aggregate. The field geological survey consisted of taking limestone samples for laboratory analysis and petrological analysis. The results showed that the limestone on the southern coast of Gorontalo is dominated by the coralline floatstone facies. Characteristics of the coralline floatstone facies based on laboratory analysis showed an average specific gravity of 1.74 and an apparent specific gravity of 2.04. While the average percentage of limestone water absorption is 8.41%.
