Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of arm muscle strength, jump height, and height on the accuracy of basketball shots in students aged 12-15 years. The research problem arises from the gap between students' high enthusiasm for basketball and the inconsistent shooting results they achieve. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research subjects consisted of 34 male students from Public Middle School 22 Semarang who were selected randomly. The data collection involved physical fitness assessments, such as push-ups to measure arm muscle strength, vertical jumps to gauge jumping proficiency, height measurements with a stadiometer, and shooting tests utilizing a jump. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25, which included descriptive tests, prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity), and multiple linear regression. The results showed a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.147, indicating that the three variables collectively contributed only 14.7% to shooting ability. The ANOVA test yielded a significance value of 0.183, which is greater than 0.05, and the partial test also showed no significant effect from each independent variable. These findings suggest that shooting success in adolescents is more influenced by factors such as mastery of basic techniques, movement coordination, and training experience.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the observed differences in the levels of motivation among children aged 2–8 years participating in push bike training at the Pushbike Academy in Purworejo, which are believed to be influenced by social support from their immediate environment. The study aims to analyze the relationship between social support from parents, coaches, and peers and children’s motivation for push bike sports. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with a descriptive design. The study subjects were children aged 2–8 years participating in push bike training, as well as parents and coaches serving as supporting informants. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis utilized descriptive statistics (SPSS) and qualitative analysis (NVivo). The results showed that social support, particularly direct involvement, emotional support, and instrumental support from parents, was significantly associated with increased motivation in children to participate in push bike training on a sustained basis. It was concluded that family social support plays a crucial role in enhancing children’s motivation for sports from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of parental support in fostering children’s motivation to participate in pushbike activities in Pekalongan City. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach supported by quantitative descriptive data. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, involving parents and children participating in pushbike activities. Quantitative data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics with the aid of SPSS, while qualitative data analysis utilized NVivo through visualizations such as word clouds, mind maps, project maps, and hierarchy charts. The results indicate that parental support plays a significant role in enhancing children’s motivation to participate in pushbike sports. Emotional support, manifested through attention, encouragement, and guidance, helps boost children’s self-confidence and comfort during training and competitions. Instrumental support through the provision of facilities and training needs also contributes to children’s enthusiasm for sports. Additionally, direct parental involvement, positive instructional approaches, peer interactions, and conflict resolution help create an environment that supports children’s physical, social, and psychological development. Thus, parental support is a key factor in build-ing children’s motivation to participate in pushbike sports in Pekalongan City.

This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving parents, children participating in pushbike activities, and community coaches as participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and online questionnaires distributed to 15 respondents. Interview data was analyzed using NVivo, while descriptive statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS. The findings revealed that parental social support plays an important role in improving children's achievement in pushbike sports. This support includes emotional support in the form of motivation and mentoring, instrumental support through the provision of facilities and competition costs, information support through communication with coaches, and assessment support through praise and encouragement. This support contributes to increased motivation, confidence, courage, training consistency, and motor and social development of children. In addition, active parental involvement creates a positive social environment that supports children's development and achievement in pushbike activities.
