Abstract

Acne vulgaris is an inflammation that occurs in the pilosebaceous gland with a prevalence of 18-21 years affected adolescents. This study aimed to determine the relationship between consumption of whey protein and the incidence of acne vulgaris. The research design was a literature review by searching medical scientific articles. Over 7,408 articles were found when searching for "protein" and "acne vulgaris." The articles were sorted by relevant publication in the last five years. There were 2,179 pertinent articles, which were then excluded from book studies that read 581 articles. Then, articles were screened only for whey protein research in the form of milk, so the remaining 129 studies were continued by selecting only subjects—adolescents aged 18-21 years so that the remaining 20 relevant articles are summarized in this study. The literature review results show a significant relationship between protein consumption and the incidence of acne vulgaris. The increase in sebum production caused by high protein consumption is the main reason for this correlation. Research findings suggest that people who consume high amounts of whey protein are more likely to develop acne vulgaris. In conclusion, this study lost the importance of nutrition in the incidence of acne vulgaris, with whey protein consumption being a significant contributing factor. The findings of this study may benefit individuals who wish to prevent or treat acne vulgaris by making dietary changes. Further research is needed to determine the optimal amount of protein intake to minimize acne vulgaris.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Psoriasis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) shares immunological and genetic risk factors. The coexistence of both conditions is extremely rare, with a prevalence of about 0.69%. The following case report outlines a rare case of generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) coexisting with SLE and highlights the challenges in managing the patient. Case Report: A woman presented with complaints of pus-filled bumps all over her body. Her previous treatment history included methotrexate and cyclosporine for 2 years, and there were increased transaminase enzyme levels. Physical examination revealed pustules, patches, and erythematous plaques that are multiple and well-defined, and a positive lake of pus sign with a generalized distribution. The BSA score was 87% and the SLEDAI score was 10. The therapy administered was a 300 mg injection of secukinumab. Discussion: The coexistence of GPP and SLE is rare. The upregulation of Th1 and Th17 immune pathways can sustain chronic inflammation in both psoriasis and SLE. Managing such cases poses a challenge to clinicians. Methylprednisolone therapy for SLE may trigger psoriasis relapses, whereas phototherapy as an adjuvant therapy for psoriasis may lead to SLE flare-ups. The elevated transaminase enzyme levels in this patient also posed a challenge in appropriate therapy selection. Studies have shown an increase in IL-17 expression in patients with SLE and psoriasis. Administering biological agents that inhibit IL-17 may be considered as a therapy option for patients with psoriasis and SLE. Conclusion: The coexistence of GPP and SLE is a rare case and poses unique challenges in its management. Secukinumab may be considered as a therapeutic option for patients with GPP and SLE.

Abstract

Motor vehicles used to support human life have a negative effect on air quality. Motor vehicle exhaust contains hazardous substances, including carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC). Therefore, several kinds of additives emerged to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions, these additives include Eco Racing and Salvis Fuel Additive. In this study, the author tries to examine how the effect of the use of the two additives is to reduce CO and HC gas levels in motor vehicles and compare the test results of the two additives. The test was carried out in three stages, namely testing with 100% pure pertalite fuel, pertalite with a mixture of Eco Racing 1 grain and pertalite with a mixture of Salvis Fuel Additive 1 ml with variations in rotation of 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4000 rpm, 4500 rpm and 5000 rpm. The test is carried out 3 times at each engine speed for maximum results. The results of the test show that the mixture of pertalite with Eco Racing 1 grain is the best in reducing CO and HC gas levels, which is 0.63% for CO levels at 3500 rpm and 37 ppm for HC levels at 3500 rpm. Keywords : Exhaust Emissions, Eco Racing, Salvis Fuel Additive

Abstract

Post-mining land reclamation must be carried out by planting vegetation, including fruits as inserts between fast and slow-growing plants. This study aims to evaluate three treatments on the growth of butter avocado trees, durian trees, and button water apple trees at the PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral Nursery for six months in 2025. The treatments tested included: (1) MG3T of fungi (Gliocladium sp., Mycorrhiza sp., Trichoderma spp.); (2) PT SMM standard; and (3) control. Leaf, stem, and root parameters were observed for 12 weeks. Generally, the combination of fungi treatment increased most of the growth. However, the PT SMM standard treatment was superior in durian stem diameter and the number of butter avocado leaves. Statistical significance (p<0.05) was found in the number of leaves of button water apple trees (fungus combination), durian tree stem diameter (PT SMM standard), durian tree stem height (fungus combination), and the number of root branches of button water apple trees (fungus combination).
