Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of economic growth and inflation on unemployment in Indonesia over the period 1990-2021. Okun's Law states that there is a relationship between economic growth and unemployment, where the percentage increase in economic growth will be offset by a greater change in the unemployment rate. In other side, the classical Philips curve indicates a trade-off between inflation and unemployment. The data used in this study are secondary data of economic growth, unemployment rate, and inflation rate in Indonesia, obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics and Bank Indonesia website. The data was processed using the autoregressive distribution lag model (ARDL)  to obtain the regression coefficients. Aggregated data results show a negative relationship between economic growth and inflation to the unemployment rate. Thus, the authorities must focus on sustaining economic growth and inflation to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia.   Keywords :  Economic Growth1, Unemployment Rate2, Inflation 3

Abstract

Abstract

Household welfare can be improved through microfinancial institutions' support by providing microcredit programs. The shock of the COVID-19 pandemic caused the impact on household welfare to decrease by 2.6% in 2020 in Bengkulu. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the People's Business Credit (KUR) program on the welfare of business households in Bengkulu Province through the National Socio-Economic Survey of the Central Bureau of Statistics (SUSENAS) for the 2022 wave using the propensity score matching (PSM) method. The study results show that microcredit influences household welfare in Bengkulu. Households receiving KUR had higher expenditures of 8.89% than groups not receiving the KUR program. In addition, age, number of households, education, savings account, marital status, and agricultural business influence KUR program recipient participation. The KUR program is expected to improve the quality of MSMEs and provide recommendations for enhancing KUR program services to related financial institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of health expenditure, access to health services, and poverty on life expectancy in Bengkulu Province from 2014-2023. Using the multiple linear regression method, the results show that health expenditure does not significantly influence life expectancy, which is caused by the budget allocation that is still low and less than optimal. In contrast, access to health services substantially increases life expectancy, whereas people with better access to health services have a higher life expectancy. Poverty was also found to have no significant effect, which may be due to government policies that help people experiencing poverty obtain health services. This study concludes that optimising access to health services is more important than increasing health spending to increase life expectancy.

Abstract

This community service activity (PPM) was carried out with the issue of Digital Money in Financial Transactions in Jambu Village, Central Bengkulu Regency. The activity was attended by 20 participants from the Talang Jambu Village Community. This activity was motivated by the fact that many people still do not understand digital money and the distance of public banks from villages means that economic activities are often hampered. In this activity, people can understand the need for technology in finance and payment tools so that economic transactions can continue to be carried out even if they do not have cash. Digital money also makes the transaction process easier because there is no need for direct face-to-face contact between sellers and buyers so economic activity can run more massively and conductively.

Abstract

One of the Indonesian government's efforts is to develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, usually MSMEs, to restore economic stability and encourage economic growth and national economic recovery. A common problem for every MSME is that knowledge about financial reports is still weak. Based on these conditions, the community service team for the Master of Applied Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Bengkulu University, held socialization activities for MSME Digitalization Development in Pekik Nyering Village, Central Bengkulu Regency and made this an effort to increase the competitiveness of MSME products. The socialization focused on training in making simple financial reports and using the SIAPIK application to make it easier to record financial transactions precisely and practically anytime, anywhere, without carrying a cash book. The activity was carried out on September 4, 2024, and was well received by the people of Pekik Nyering Village. After training, MSMEs can use the SIAPIK application and are expected to continue using this application on an ongoing basis.
