Abstract

This final report is aimed at writing video script to promote tourism destination in Lahat. The purpose of this research is to know how to write video script of Green Canyon to promote tourism destination in Lahat. In this final report the writer used Research and Development method modified by Sukmadinata (2005). This method consisted of three steps: (1) Preliminary Study, (2) Model Development, and (3) Final Product Testing. The writer collected data by conducting observation and interview as a reference to write video script and to get some information. After the video script was designed, it was checked by 3 experts. The result of this research was the writer conducted 3 steps of R&D method and 10 stages in making a video script to promote tourism destination in lahat. Abstract

ABSTRAKBahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa internasional yang paling banyak memiliki penutur dan sering kali digunakan pada pertemuan antarnegara. Oleh karena itu, kemampuan Bahasa Inggris perlu dikuasai oleh siswa sebagai penerus generasi agar dapat meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia. Kampung Literasi yang menjadi tempat belajar nonformal bagi siswa dimanfaatkan sebagai perluasan akses informasi, khususnya terkait pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini meliputi 1. Apa materi yang tepat digunakan dalam pelatihan vocabulary for kids di Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir Palembang? dan 2. Bagaimana metode yang diterapkan dalam pelatihan vocabulary for kids di Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir Palembang? Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya memberikan pelatihan kepada siswa di Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir Palembang. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan praktik kosa kata dalam Bahasa Inggris. Metode pelatihan conversation yang telah dilaksanakan adalah dengan drilling method di mana peserta pelatihan diminta melakukan hal yang sama, berulang-ulang secara sungguh-sungguh dengan tujuan untuk menyempurnakan keterampilan speaking, terutama pronunciation agar peserta mengetahui cara pengucapan yang benar. Target yang diharapkan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu meningkatkan keterampilan, menambah pengetahuan, dan mempertajam pemahaman terkait kosa kata Bahasa Inggris sehari-hari kepada anak-anak untuk dapat meningkatkan kompetensi speaking.ABSTRACTEnglish is the most widely spoken international language and is often used in international meetings. Therefore, English proficiency needs to be mastered by students as the next generation to improve the quality of human resources. The Literacy Village, which serves as a non-formal learning place for students, is utilized to expand access to information, especially related to English learning. The issues raised in this study include: 1. What is the appropriate material used in vocabulary training for kids in Literacy Village 26 Ilir Palembang? and 2. What methods are applied in vocabulary training for kids in Literacy Village 26 Ilir Palembang? Based on these issues, the Community Service Team from the English Department of Sriwijaya State Polytechnic conducted training for students in Literacy Village 26 Ilir Palembang. This training was carried out using lecture, discussion, and English vocabulary practice methods. The conversation training method implemented was the drilling method, where the trainees were asked to perform the same task repeatedly in a serious manner to enhance speaking skills, especially pronunciation, so that participants know the correct pronunciation. The expected target of this community service activity is to improve skills, increase knowledge, and sharpen understanding of everyday English vocabulary for children to enhance their speaking competence. Keywords: Conversation, English Vocabulary, Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir, Kids, Pronunciation

Abstract

The culinary industry is one of the leading sectors in creative industries, with pempek from Palembang being a notable example. The increasing number of national and international events held in Palembang underscores the importance of promotion and marketing. In the era of Society 5.0, the use of digital and English-based promotional media is essential. This study employs research and development methods to describe the design and development of a bilingual e-flip book as a promotional tool for culinary tourism. The product is a digital promotional medium accessible via an Instagram link, featuring an attractively designed digital book with a red, black, and white color scheme. Each page includes images of products, prices, brief descriptions, facilities, ordering procedures, and payment methods in both Indonesian and English. The flip book effect simulates the experience of flipping through a real book. The product validation results from language experts (90) and design experts (88.63) yield an average score of 89.32, indicating high suitability. Public response to the bilingual e-flip book is very positive, with 69.2% agreeing it is highly efficient for obtaining information about products and facilities at culinary tourism destinations, 65.4% finding the information very accurate, and 71.8% considering it highly practical for promotional purposes.

Abstract

Indonesia is preparing to enter the era of Society 5.0 where all aspects of life are interconnected without space and time limitations. Students in Islamic boarding schools must also have the competence to communicate, to think critically, and to collaborate on projects. It is important for the younger generation to improve their public speaking competence so that they can express their critical and creative thoughts in front of others. This study is a descriptive qualitative study and the data are collected by observations. This study aims to describing how to train students’ public speaking skill through drilling method. The samples as well as subjects of this study were 28 students. Public speaking training was conducted for a month using the drilling method at the Tahfidz Takhasus Daarul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School Palembang. The drill method was carried out in seven steps namely association, objectives and core material delivery, motivation, practices, demonstration, evaluation, and program follow-up. The training was carried out by introducing the material through lectures and discussions, and was continued with the drilling method to train the students' rhetorical or speech competence in public. Students demonstrated public speaking in English, Arabic and Indonesian. The advice given to the training participants is to maximize training in public speaking, especially making speeches in various languages so that they can be used when engaging in society.Indonesia is preparing to enter the era of Society 5.0 where all aspects of life are interconnected without space and time limitations.
