Abstract

This article aims to determine the marketing channels for dragon fruit and the efficiency of dragon fruit marketing channels in Taratak NagodangVillage, Ujung Padang District, Simalungun Regency. The Problem focuses on marketing channels and the efficiency of dragon fruit marketing channels. The theoretical references used in reviewing this article are Kotler’s (2015) theory for marketing channels and Su’udi’s (2018) theory with marketing margins. This research is qualitative and quantitative descriptive research. The research sample for dragon fruit farmers used random sampling, while the sample for traders used the census method, and the consumer sample used the incidental sampling method. The results of the research show that there is one level of the channel formed in the marketing of dragon fruit in Taratak Nagodang Village, Ujung Padang District, Simalungun Regency, namely from farmers to collecting traders, then wholesalers, retailers, and finally external consumers. Taratak Nagodang Village is the closest city to Batu Bara and Meranti. The lowest marketing margin for dragon fruit is with a margin percentage of 28% for collecting institutions and for all efficient marketing institutions with a value of 48%. Wholesalers with an efficiency value of 7% are the most efficient institutions.

Abstract

Traditional snack cakes can be contaminated with harmful microbes due to poor hygiene and sanitation practices. This study aims to identify the types of bacteria contaminating traditional snacks sold by street vendors on Jl. Al-Falah. The method used is the pour plate technique on Plate Count Agar for 24 hours at a temperature of 33-35 °C, along with selective media Salmonella Shigella Agar and Eosin Methylene Blue Agar. Observations include both fresh samples and those stored for 24 hours. Confirmation tests were conducted on SSA and EMBA media, followed by SCA (Simmon Citrate Agar). The results showed that six types of cakes exceeded the microbial contamination limits: P1S1 (6.2 × 10⁵ colonies/g), P2S1 (10 × 10⁴ colonies/g), P3S1 (4.8 × 10⁴ colonies/g), P1S5 (5.6 × 10⁴ colonies/g), P2S5 (5 × 10⁴ colonies/g), and P3S5 (8.6 × 10⁴ colonies/g). Out of 15 samples, two were detected to contain pathogenic bacteria: P1S1 was positive for Salmonella sp. and Escherichia coli, while P3S2 was positive for Escherichia coli. In conclusion, the contaminating bacteria Salmonella sp. and Escherichia coli were found in cake samples from different vendors.

Abstract

This study was designed to reevaluate the adjustment of land suitability classes. This study was conducted in North Sumatra Province, precisely in 4 regencies, namely Simalungun, Langkat, Deli Serdang, and Serdang Bedagai Regencies. The study used land suitability classes. Related to rooting media and nutrient retention parameters, the results of a semi-detailed land suitability study for soybean plants in Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, and Langkat Regencies showed that the land was only marginally suitable (S3 rc, nr). In Simalungun Regency, efforts were made to increase the suitability of potential land to a marginally suitable class with the rooting media factor (S3 rc) and the water availability and nutrient retention factor (S3 wa, nr). This was done by attempting to increase the adaptability of potential land to a marginal suitability class with a water availability factor (S3 wa). The land suitability class in the research area for soybean plants includes the marginal suitability class (S3), so planting soybean commodities results in less than maximum production with limiting factors of rainfall and nutrition retention. To improve nutrient retention by adding organic materials, the limiting factor of rainfall is relatively high by creating drainage channels.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a very large water area which is a large potential resource to be utilized for national development. This condition affects the strong weak economic activities of the village. The purpose of the study is to find out how much the income of labor fishermen in Tebing Tinggi Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency and to find out what factors affect the income of labor fishermen in Tebing Tinggi Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research was conducted in Tebing Tinggi Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. This location was chosen intentionally (Purposive). The population in this study was 546 labor fishermen, the determination of the sample in this study used Arikunto's theory, namely if the total population was less than 100 people, then the number of samples was taken as a whole. But if the population is larger than 100 people then it can be taken 10-15% and 20-25% of the total population. The samples in this study were taken as much as 10% of the total population, so the number of samples in this study was 55 labor fishermen. Data collection techniques use primary data and secondary data, data analysis techniques in research use income analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the research on the working capital costs of labor fishermen amounted to Rp. 244,894/month, with an income of Rp. 4,128,386/month with an average of 12 trips a month of fishing. The results of multiple linear regressions that the working capital variable and the catch variable have a significant effect on the income of labor fishermen while the time variable at sea and experience variables do not have a significant effect on the income of labor fishermen in Tebing Tinggi Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency.

Abstract

Togu Domu Nauli Village, Dolok Pardamean District, Simalungun Regency, is one of the areas with great potential as a shallot producer. Shallots planted by farmers are harvested at 65 days after planting. Shallot products can be improved and made more valuable by adding fried shallots, a type of processed shallot. Hadena MSME is a business unit engaged in processing shallots into fried shallots. Hadena MSME uses shallots as raw materials from Togu Domu Nauli Village as the highest producer of shallots according to Dolok Pardamean District data. The purpose of this study was to determine the income and added value of shallots into fried shallots. Sampling in this study was carried out using two methods, namely the Simple Random Sampling method for shallot farmers, and the saturated sampling method for Hadena Fried Shallot MSME business actors. Data analysis was carried out through the application of income analysis, as well as added value using the Hayami method. The study's findings reveal that shallot farmers in Togu Domu Nauli Village earn Rp 28,147,632 per planting season, while the Hadena Fried Onion MSME earns Rp 1,194,500 per production run. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the preferences and value of coffee consumption in the urban generation in Medan Petisah District, Medan City, North Sumatra. The research focuses on consumer preferences toward coffee product attributes (type, taste, and aroma) as well as the stages of the purchasing decision-making process. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that consumer preferences are primarily influenced by taste and aroma, followed by coffee type and café atmosphere. Adolescents and young adults tend to prefer modern coffee variants with sweet and creamy flavors, while older consumers maintain a preference for stronger and more bitter traditional coffee. In the decision-making process, consumers go through stages of need recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, purchase decision, and post-purchase behavior. Social reference groups and social media play a significant role in the information search stage, whereas post-purchase satisfaction is determined by the alignment between taste quality, café ambiance, pricing, and consumer expectations. The study concludes that coffee consumption behavior is driven not only by functional needs but also by social, emotional, and lifestyle factors. Therefore, café marketing strategies should emphasize product differentiation, consistency in taste and aroma quality, a comfortable and appealing atmosphere, and community-based promotional approaches to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
