Abstract

Previous studies have shown that healthcare workers experienced post-traumatic growth (PTG) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Various factors, such as social support, coping strategies, and deliberate rumination, were also reported to positively influence healthcare workers’ PTG. This study examined the role of emotional creativity and self-disclosure in the PTG of healthcare workers handling COVID-19 patients. The study involved 186 healthcare workers recruited through convenience sampling. The Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory - Expanded (PTGI-X), Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS), and Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI) were used to collect data in this study. Based on multiple regression analyses, the model consisting of emotional creativity and self-disclosure was able to predict PTG (F = 15.54; p < 0.001). Partially, the results indicated that emotional creativity significantly predicted PTG (β= 0.337; 95% CI = 0.198 - 0.477), whereas self-disclosure did not (β = 0.112; 95% CI= -0.027 - 0.251). Additional analyses showed that healthcare professionals with more than 20 years of working experience had significantly higher PTG than those with 11 – 20 years of working experience. This study implies that flexibility in expressing emotions is a more preferred and impactful psychological resource in helping healthcare workers face similar traumatic events in the future.

Abstract

Liquid waste is a major problem in the textile industry environment that has the most widespread influence because physical and aquatic characteristics can have a negative impact on waters. Most of the liquid waste produced by batik comes from the dyeing process and environmental pollution. If it is disposed of directly into the environment without prior processing, the environment has a limited ability to degrade dyestuffs. One alternative method to remove the dye in water contaminated with methyl orange is biosorption using a cheap and easily available biosorbent, such as a langsat shell. This study used a batch method with variations in pH, solution concentration, particle size, stirring speed, and contact time. The results of each variation carried out obtained the optimum conditions for the absorption of Methyl Orange, namely at: pH 4, concentration 150 mg/L, and particle size 150 μm. The adsorption isotherm study was carried out, the Langmuir equation yielded a regression coefficient value that was close to one (R2 = 0.9964) so that it could be said to be better with a maximum absorption capacity of 3.1164 mg/g

Abstract

Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) have been proposed as promising supports for enzyme immobilization. Developing an effective technique for enzyme immobilization on HNTs is crucial for their practical application. In this study, we present a method for immobilizing laccase enzymes on HNTs using various amino acids as green cross-linkers for eco-friendly decolorization of synthetic dye. The modified HNTs were characterized using FT-IR, FE-SEM, and HR-TEM analyses. Furthermore, the effects of various parameters—including pH (ranging from 3 to 8), temperature (30-70°C), toxicity, and reusability—on the activity of both free and immobilized laccase were investigated. The results indicated that glycine (Gly) provided the most effective support for laccase immobilization on HNTs. The modified HNTs/Gly-Lac achieved an immobilization yield of 98.45% and successfully decolorized 94.60% of Acid Blue 129 (AB129) within 2 h. The successful immobilization of laccase onto functionalized HNTs was confirmed through FT-IR, FE-SEM, and HR-TEM analyses. Morphological observations of HNTs/Gly for laccase immobilization showed a thickened and roughened appearance with a thin, light gray layer on the outer surface. Additionally, the presence of an imine (-C=N-) bond peak and a peak at 1410 cm-1, corresponding to the (-NH) bond, suggested successful covalent immobilization. The toxicity analysis revealed a reduction in the toxicity of laccase after immobilization onto modified HNTs. A reusability assessment conducted over five cycles demonstrated that decolorization efficiency remained above 45%. These findings suggest that HNTs/GlyLac could serve as an effective material for textile dye wastewater treatment.
