Abstract

Brown sugar is one of the palm derivative products that have high economic value and has very good prospects for development. Commerce is a trading activity that combines the flow of goods and services from the level of production to consumption. This study aims to determine the share margin received by each channel of the brown sugar commerce at Kulon Progo Regency. This research, which was conducted in May-July 2020, used a descriptive method. The method of determining the research location used the purposive sampling method. Determination of the number of informants is determined by the snowball method with a total of 60 informants. Methods of data analysis using cost analysis tools and marketing margins. The results showed that the marketing margin obtained at the farm level was Rp1.706/kg while the collectors were Rp4.375/kg. Product variations being developed are printed coconut sugar, wet neutral brown sugar, dry neutral brown sugar, and flavor variants.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to increase the productivity of organic robusta coffee and the quality of fermented coffee beans through the application of organic fertilizers and sustainable cultivation practices in Pentingsari Village, Cangkringan District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Pentingsari Village is located on the slopes of Mount Merapi with fertile volcanic soil, making it a potential location for the development of organic coffee farming. Challenges faced by farmers include the use of inorganic fertilizers that damage soil quality and lack of knowledge about organic farming practices. Through a series of counseling, training, and field practice, this program provides education and skills to farmers to adopt better organic farming practices. The results of the activities show an increase in farmers' knowledge about organic coffee cultivation techniques, improvements in coffee bean fermentation methods, and increased productivity and quality of robusta coffee. The implementation of organic fertilizers in agricultural land management has a positive impact on soil fertility and the sustainability of coffee production

Abstract

This study analyzed the reliability and failure risks of screw press machine components in a palm oil loose fruit mill using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method. The objective was to identify critical components, evaluate their Risk Priority Number (RPN), and propose appropriate maintenance strategies. Data were collected through questionnaires, field observations, and maintenance records. The RPN was calculated by multiplying severity, occurrence, and detection scores, while reliability was assessed using the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) formula. The worm screw showed the highest RPN at 252, indicating a critical risk level, while the press cage followed with an RPN of 210. MTBF analysis revealed that the worm screw required replacement every 313.5 hours, whereas components like the V-belt and electro motor had longer MTBF intervals of up to 3135 hours. The findings suggested that targeted maintenance on high-risk components could reduce downtime and enhance production efficiency. This study concluded that prioritizing preventive maintenance based on RPN and MTBF results was crucial for maintaining the operational performance of screw press machines in palm oil processing.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop an empirical estimation model of oil palm production through the canopy cover area approach and oil palm vegetation index with multispectral camera technology. The oil palm production estimation method was carried out by comparing the NDVI and NDRE index transformation algorithms. The basis for estimation an area of ± 0.3 ha. The results showed that there is relatively strong relationship between canopy cover area and FFB production (kg) with a coefficient of determination R² = 0.573. The results also revealed that NDVI value and the number of FFB have a fairly strong relationship with R² of 0.488. The NDRE value correlated to the number of FFB at a strong relationship with R² of 0.605. 4) the results of the analysis between NDVI Value and FFB Production (kg) have a strong relationship (r = 0.704) with a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.496; 5) the results of the analysis between NDRE Value and FFB Production (kg) have a strong relationship (r = 0.797) with a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.635; 6) The NDRE value is the independent variable that provides the best response, both to the Number of FFB and FFB Production (kg); 7) the best regression equation obtained for FFB production (kg) is Y(FFB Production (kg)) = 1153.8– (3621.9*NDRE); and 8) the best regression equation obtained for the number of FFB is Y(Number of FFB) = 113.98 – (379.53*NDRE). Keywords: Canopy cover area, Multispectral camera, NDRE, NDVI, Oil palm production.
