Abstract

Dharmagita activities, which is better known in the community as meshanti, are one form of offerings through singing sacred songs. Sacred song is one type of the five types of songs in Hinduism which are known as pancagita. Meshanti is also a form of yoga and closely related to catur marga yoga which is performed through yajna ceremonies. The aim of the research is to identify the implementation, the procedure, and benefit of using gitashanti as a yoga therapy. The present study was conducted with qualitative method and the data were collected using observation, interview, literature study, and documentation. The present study found that 1) Gitashanti is performed as a yoga therapy in Pasantian Dharma Usada since in its implementation it uses the action of ngunda napas (breathing regulation) and ngandet angkihan (holding breath). In yoga, the action of regulating breath is called pranayama and the sitting pose is called asana. For the female, the sitting pose is kneeling (bajrasana) and the male sitting pose is sitting cross-legged (ardha padmasana). 2) The procedure starts with worshipping the Goddess Saraswati. 3) The benefits are a) health benefits, the participants enjoyed a significant blood pressure decrease with the average of 33.3mmHg after joining gitashanti, ngayah (charity service)/community social activities/ menyama braya (familial activities), c) preserving Balinese culture trough nyastra (literary activities).

Abstract

Background. Learning based on local wisdom is gaining importance in education, especially within the Independent Curriculum, which allows adapting materials to local contexts. Modules based on local wisdom are believed to enhance student engagement and understanding, but empirical evidence regarding their effectiveness on learning outcomes remains limited. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the influence of the use of learning modules based on local wisdom on student learning outcomes in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Method. This study uses a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group that uses a module based on local wisdom and a control group that uses a conventional module. The sample consisted of 200 students from four purposively selected junior high schools. The instruments used are learning outcome tests and attitude questionnaires. Results. Experimental group experienced significant improvements in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes compared to the control group. The average post-test scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, with greater improvements in class engagement and positive attitudes towards learning. The use of modules based on local wisdom also strengthens students' ability to apply learning concepts into daily life, especially those related to local cultural values. Conclusion. Learning module based on local wisdom is effective in improving student learning outcomes and is relevant to the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. This approach not only improves academic understanding, but also supports the development of students' character and social skills.

Abstract

In general, what is meant by percussion has to do with sounding the gamelan. Maybe by hitting, blowing, swiping and others. Tet Port or percussion is interpreted by the sound of gamelan music in a performance, as a supporter of a ceremony or accompaniment of a dance. Specifically in Balinese musical meaning, what is meant by percussion is the result of the artist's ability to achieve a balance of the game in realizing a repertoire (reportoar) to match the soul, taste and purpose of the composition. Beating does not mean the origin of hitting the gamelan following a melody, but hitting the gamelan with all the rules or procedures that have been determined so that the sound of the gamelan can be heard beautifully. The beauty arising from the sound of the gamelan, not only depends on one factor, for example, because the composition of the song is played well, but the beauty occurs due to a balance between the song composition factors, the sound of the gamelan itself including the barrel, the procedures or rules for voicing the gamelan, skills and the artist's ability to animate the song's play. The implementation of religious traditions in the Pupuan Sawah Village is always accompanied by percussion or gamelan to show an aesthetic or beauty and contain the full meaning of sacredness.
