Abstract

Background: Indonesia is known as a disaster-prone country, the total amount of damage due to disasters is said to be the fourth largest in the world. The impact of global warming results in very high rainfall and large-scale damage. Apart from weather disasters, a number of damages also occur due to geological disasters. To stop disaster damage in the long term, it is important to create sustainable communities. It is important not to separate the environment and disaster prevention, but to learn about the nature that sometimes threatens us just as we learn about the nature around us. Under these conditions, until now Indonesia has not included practical disaster education in the learning curriculum, because it is considered important to include disaster management training in school communities. Because of this, disaster management methods were tested in Japan, tested in elementary schools in the city of Mataram, Indonesia. This research aims to evaluate whether adapting traditional Japanese educational methods such as "exploring the environment (Machitanken)" and "picture story performances (Kamishibai)", and presentations (hapyoukai) are adapted to local conditions. existing policies in Indonesia, can be applied in Indonesia. Methods: This research was conducted in the city of Mataram, carried out for one year via Zoom, involving 7 elementary school teachers, one middle school teacher, and three lecturers. Findings: The participants were given knowledge about how to provide disaster education. Conclusion: To further strengthen teachers' abilities and skills in teaching about disasters, teachers were given training for 6 months via Zoom and for one week in Kitakyushu City to make teaching materials. Novelty/Originality of this Study: The novelty of this study lies in its implementation of disaster mitigation education for elementary school teachers in Mataram using traditional Japanese methods such as Machitanken and Kamishibai. This approach is unique as it integrates cultural techniques from Japan into the Indonesian educational context, aiming to enhance teachers' ability to educate students on disaster preparedness in a practical and engaging manner.

Abstract

Incorporating entrepreneurship into education is an alternative solution to improve the quality of school graduates. This study aims to deeply analyze some of the components of entrepreneurship core competency and curriculum integrated with several local cultural advantages and local products. The method used to analyze in depth the components used the structural equation model (SEM). The total sample was 180 respondents, with the details being Indonesian public and private high school teachers, curriculum experts, and professional entrepreneurs from Kitakyushu University Japan and IAIN Syekh Nurjati Indonesia. The results show that the entrepreneurial core competencies are significantly related to a curriculum integrated with local culture and products. Path analysis shows that each indicator of entrepreneurial core competence and integrated curriculum with cultural advantages and local products are interrelated and significantly influence each other. Entrepreneurship education is relevant for creating graduates with additional abilities. Curriculum integration of the advantages of local culture and products can also foster students' love for local culture and products as a national identity. The research contributes to providing information and recommendations to teachers and schools about the importance of entrepreneurship core competencies. Besides that, it proves that entrepreneurship learning for high school students is more accessible through the local culture and product approaches.

Abstract

Teaching materials that accommodate innovative learning to improve environmental literacy are currently essential. Development research has been conducted to develop and examine the effectiveness of ecobrick theme teaching materials in improving student ecoliteracy. The teaching materials are packaged with the PBL-STEM 4H model (project based learning- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - head, heart, hand, and harmony). The research employs research and development method and ADDIE design (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). This research uses interview guidelines, observation questionnaire sheets, and environmental literacy instruments as research instruments. In the development stage, this research employs several science teachers in the Sukabumi Regency, as determined by purposive sampling. In the implementation stage, 7th-grade students of one secondary school in West Java were tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching materials in improving eco-literacy. Teaching materials were developed using PBL-STEM learning steps characterized by 4H values. The teaching materials' validation results show high validity with a feasibility score of 87.2, including a very valid category. The CVI (content validity index) and CVR (content validity ratio) indexes of 0.995 and 0.990 are included in the valid category. Teacher response to teaching materials reaches 90.05, including the outstanding category. The implementation results show that using the developed teaching materials during learning can improve student eco-literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-module for learning about additives in Natural Sciences, incorporating project-based learning and local wisdom to enhance the scientific literacy of Grade VIII junior high school students. The method employed is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved 32 students from SMPN 2 Padarincang. The module validation was conducted by material and media experts, as well as science teachers, using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), both of which indicated that the module is highly feasible and valid. A one-group pretest-posttest experimental design was used for the module trial, demonstrating a significant improvement in students' scientific literacy with an average N-gain value of 0.6421 (moderate category). The integration of local wisdom through the context of milkfish satay processing offers a relevant and engaging learning experience, promoting a deeper understanding of the concept of additives. Students responded positively to the e-module, providing strong feedback on its effectiveness. This research contributes to science education by offering an innovative, culturally relevant approach to teaching natural sciences, fostering improved scientific literacy, and illustrating the potential of project-based learning integrated with local wisdom. The findings suggest that project-based e-modules, when combined with local context, can be effective tools for enhancing scientific literacy in middle school students, advancing both pedagogical strategies and educational outcomes in science.

Abstract

One of the severe problems facing the world-wide is a large number of unemployed, both high school graduates who do not continue their tertiary education and university graduates. The curriculum requires competency content to prepare graduates who are ready to work. One alternative is implementing an entrepreneurship curriculum so that graduates can decide on a career after graduation. This study aims to identify what core competencies are needed to start/start-up, manage, and develop the entrepreneurship local content curriculum for Islamic High Schools. This research method is a descriptive qualitative survey technique. The survey results were discussed through Focus Group Discussion with the participants, who were curriculum and entrepreneur experts from IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Indonesia and Kitakyushu University Japan. The result shows that the core and basic competencies consist of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes entrepreneurs must possess. The six core entrepreneurial competencies for local content curriculum are 1) Identifying business opportunities and exploiting businesses; 2) Implementing managerial activities; 3) Implementing human resource management; 4) Implementing commercial and marketing activities; 5) Implementing financial management; 6) Actualizing attitudes and behavior. This research contributes to providing knowledge to educational stakeholders to improve the quality of education by increasing its relevance in graduate employment.
