Abstract

Learning media becomes a tool for teachers to convey information in the form of material to students effectively. However, in reality there are still many teachers who do not use learning media because they use the lecture method which is considered more practical than making media. This research aims to: (1) produce minibook learning media to train initial reading skills, (2) determine the feasibility of learning media minibooks to practice initial reading skills, (3) knowing students' responses to minibook learning media. Development of minibook learning media based on the syllabic method to train beginning reading skills using research and development (R and D) methods. The development stages used in this research use the Brogg and Gall development procedure, which includes: (1) potential and problems (2) data collection, (3) product design,(4) design validation, (5) design revision, (6) test try. The results of this development research are minibook media based on the syllabic method for practicing initial reading skills which have been tested for their suitability by media experts, material experts and language experts. Overall test results show good results, namely obtaining a very decent category with details of material expert 1 giving a score of 75.0%, material expert 2 of 95.0%, language expert of 84.0%, media expert 1 of 88.8 %, and media expert 2 was 82.2%. The score obtained was in the very decent category. Based on the results of the media feasibility trial, it can be concluded that the minibook learning media based on the syllabic method for practicing initial reading skills is very suitable for use at SDN Rancaranji, especially in the lower classes.

Abstract

This journal explores the intersection of ethnolinguistics and toponymy, focusing on the naming conventions of villages in the Cimanuk District. The methodology employed in this research is ethnolinguistic with a descriptive qualitative approach. This method is particularly effective for understanding the nuances of language as it relates to cultural and social contexts. Intralingual matching is data analysis method focuses on analyzing the differences in linguistic elements, particularly phonological and lexical differences. The study categorizes the names based on grammatical units and their origins, revealing a total of 11 data points divided into monomorphemic (3 data) and polymorphemic (8 data) names. The analysis highlights that the naming process involves compounding, which is a significant aspect of word formation in language. The findings indicate that the names can be grouped into two aspects based on their origins: manifestation aspects (6 data) and societal aspects (5 data). This dual approach not only enriches the understanding of local culture but also emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage through language.Keywords: Toponymy, Village Naming, Cimanuk, Grammatical Units

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the representation of differentiated instruction and character education in the novel Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with documentation and content analysis techniques, data were collected from excerpts in the novel that reflect educational practices at Tomoe Gakuen School. The findings indicate that differentiated instruction was implemented through student autonomy in selecting learning content, varied learning processes tailored to individual learning styles, and diverse, authentic learning products. Additionally, the character development of the main figure, Totto-chan, demonstrates the integration of moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral behavior shaped contextually through role modeling and experiential learning. These findings highlight the potential of literary texts as an effective medium for internalizing humanistic and inclusive educational values.  Keyword: differentiated instruction, character education, Totto-chan novel   Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dan pembentukan karakter dalam novel Totto-chan karya Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. Menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik dokumentasi dan analisis isi, data diperoleh dari kutipan-kutipan dalam novel yang mencerminkan praktik pendidikan di sekolah Tomoe Gakuen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berdiferensiasi diterapkan melalui kebebasan dalam memilih konten belajar, variasi proses pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan gaya belajar peserta didik, serta bentuk produk belajar yang beragam dan otentik. Selain itu, pembentukan karakter tokoh utama, Totto-chan, tergambar melalui penguatan nilai-nilai pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral, dan perilaku moral yang terbentuk secara kontekstual melalui keteladanan dan pengalaman belajar. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa literasi sastra dapat menjadi media efektif dalam menginternalisasi nilai-nilai pendidikan yang humanis dan inklus.
