Abstract

Storybird is an online social application for storytelling that offers a lot of benefits both for readers and student-writers. Students can act like authors who compose fictional stories and illustrate them with artful images. This study is intended to describe the foreign language (EFL) students’ ability in writing flash fiction by using Storybird. The research used content analysis design. The subjects of this study were 32 students of English education study program who joined creative writing course in University of PGRI Wiranegara. The instruments used were documentation and human instrument. The data collection took two months, from June to July 2020.The researchers analyzed 64 flash fictions written by the students in the Storybird application. The result shows that the students’ ability to create flash fiction is very good. The result also shows that 69% of the students is able to write the flash fiction in a complete generic structure. Almost half of them (45%) prefered ‘love’ theme in writing their fiction. The most preferable way to start the story is by introducing the conflict in the opening, and the most preferable type of conflict is the man vs. man type (48%). The result also reveals that the majority of the students use close resolution to end their story (87.5%), while the rest of them favor open resolution with a probability for a sequel to write.

Abstract

 One way to attract consumers to buy products is through attractive packaging. Therefore, this community service (SSI) aims to provide training related to packaging polishing using screen printing for small scale industry actors in the city of Pasuruan. Specifically, the purpose of writing this article is to describe the implementation and results of bottle screen printing training as a form of community service for food and beverage business actors in the city of Pasuruan. The method implemented is divided into three main stages, namely analysis as well as preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The team collaborated with the Demer sablon company, Pasuruan city to provide screen printing training materials. In the training session, many participants were enthusiastic about asking questions and greatly appreciated the training activities. Also, in the practice of screen printing, many participants produced good screen prints in the first trial (84%), while others (16%) produced ordinary screen prints. It can be concluded that community service activities through bottle screen printing training for SSI actors in the city of Pasuruan are very useful and increase the knowledge and basic skills of participants on how to screen print packaging bottles manually.

Abstract

Sebelum dan dalam proses menjalankan sebuah bisnis, sangat penting untuk melakukan analisis tentang layak atau tidaknya bisnis yang dibangun serta dioperasionalkan secara rutin dalam rangka pencapaian keuntungan yang maksimal pada batas waktu yang ditentukan. Akan tetapi, banyak dari calon maupun pemilik Industri Kecil Menengah (IKM) di Pasuruan yang mengabaikan tahapan analisis bisnis tersebut. Guna meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya analisis bisnis ini, maka tim pengabdian mengadakan Bimbingan Teknis (Bimtek) Analisis Bisnis melalui program Interaktif Bisnis dengan mitra Pusat Pengembangan Bisnis (P2B), Universitas PGRI Wiranegara. Bimtek ini telah berhasil diikuti oleh 29 peserta baik dari calon maupun pemilik IKM di Pasuruan. Para peserta dari bimtek ini mendapatkan wawasan analisis bisnis dimulai dari tahap Penemuan Ide Bisnis hingga Pelaksanaan Operasional Bisnis. Metode analisis yang diberikan dalam bimtek ini di antaranya Payback Periods, Net Present Value, Internal Rate Return. Program pengabdian ini dapat diklaim sukses dengan melihat antusiasme yang tinggi selama proses bimtek dan peningkatan wawasan bisnis dari peserta pasca program yang diketahui melalui angket Google. Namun, tim pengabdian perlu mengembangkan praktik keberlanjutan agar para peserta tidak sekedar mendapatkan wawasan tentang analisis bisnis saja tetapi juga berkomitmen untuk menerapkannya dalam menjalankan bisnis yang dikelola.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of YouTube podcasts in the students' speaking fluency. The problem in this study is the fluency of the students to speak by using Podcast. Based on the issues above, this research purpose to analyze YouTube podcasts contribute to these fluency-related skills and analyze the platform as a learning tool. This research is qualitative descriptive with the researcher as the primary human instrument for data collection. The subject in this study is XII-7 grade of SMA Negeri 2 Kota Pasuruan in academic year 2024/2025. The total number is 34 students. The data are collected by observation. The findings reveal varying levels of fluency improvement: high-performing students exhibited coherent speech with occasional pauses, while medium-performing students faced challenges with pronunciation and consistent fluency. Low-performing students struggled with frequent hesitations and fragmented sentences. The study underscores the potential of YouTube podcasts to facilitate fluency by providing authentic language exposure and encouraging self-directed practice.

Abstract

Using gadgets cannot be avoided in daily life. It becomes more primary for students in higher education since they change to learn online during the covid?19 pandemic period. They should use gadgets focusing on education, but unfortunately, studies had reported that students are addicted to using gadgets to access some entertaining applications. Therefore, it was essential to investigate how the students manage using gadgets and their effects on their achievement. This survey research required the student's responses to a Gadget Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV) Addict item. The researchers collected data using a survey questionnaire on Google Form to determine how using gadgets affects the students' achievement. This research was done from August to December 2020. The results showed that both male and female students were identified as high-risk addicted. Moreover, the gadget addiction had terrible effects on the student's physical and psychological even though it did not significantly impact their academic achievement. However, based on the results, it was hoped that there should be the best management for using gadgets to improve the students’ achievement and prevent the long-term risk of gadget addiction.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah mengembangakan bahan literasi berbasis digital dengan tampilan yang lebih menarik dan berfokus pada pengembangan literasi Tatabin (Tata Bahasa Indonesia) dalam pembinaan Tata Bahasa Indonesia. Pengembanga tersebut didasarkan pada fenomena saat ini, dimana banyak literasi mengenai tata bahasa Indonesia mulai dari PUEBI, maupun ensiklopedia tata bahasa Indonesia. Akan tetapi, bagi sebagaian besar pelajar enggan membaca keseluruhan bahan literasi tersebut karena cerderung hanya berbentuk bacaan dan tata kalimat semata. Tidak ada tampilan yang menarik seperti halnya gambar dan warna. Ada tiga tingkatan utama modus belajar, yaitu pengalaman langsung (enactive), pengalaman pictorial atau gambar (iconic), dan pengalaman abstrak (symbolitic). Dari tiga modus pembelajaran tersebut, modus pictorial merupakan modus yang paling menarik bagi para siswa. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan literasi tata bahasa Indonesia yang menggambarkan kreativitas dan inovatif dalam penyajian ketatabahasaan, selain itu memerhatikan kondisi pandemi covid-19 saat ini. Pendekatan dalam peneliti ini adalah R&D. Model pengembangan penelitian ini menggunakan model procedural Dick and Carey, yakni: 1) Tahap persiapan: Observasi, Analisis kebutuhan; 2) Tahap pengembangan: (1) Menentukan Bahan/ konten bacaan tatabin. Hasil analisis kebutuhan dari penelitian ini adalah para pegiat literasi membutuhkan tampilan berbeda sebagai bahan literasi tata bahasa Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian dan pengembangan ini berupa literasi “Tatabin” berupa E-Komik Edu.
