Furthermore, the writers determined that women have a difficult access to work as a result of discrimination and exploitation, married women are required to be completely subservient to their husbands, unequal education opportunity, parents expected a son over a daughter, and women unable to participate in social-political activities. Also, on Beauvoir ideas of resist toward The Otherness such as women can work, become intellectuals, contribute to a socialist revolution, and women can transcend their limitations by refusing to internalize their otherness or to identify themselves through the dominant group's eyes. This can be concluded that women still faced severe discrimination, oppression, exploitation, and inequality to gain their freedom, yet women still resist to the oppression in society.

Abstract

This study at STBA JIA seeks to cultivate students’ creativity and critical thinking by implementing Project-Based Learning (PjBL) through English drama performances. It was chosen as it offers students opportunities to enhance their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Likewise, English drama encourages collaboration, creativity, and a deep understanding of cultural and literary contexts, helping students connect classical themes with modern social issues. This drama project specifically utilizes Oscar Wilde's plays, including An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Lady Windermere's Fan and conducted in CGV Cinema Bekasi. This study covered several stages which proposed by Kemendikbud (2013), namely planning, rehearsals, and final performance, all of that were monitored and evaluated by lecturers. The findings show that English Drama Project effectively encourages active student participation in the learning process, raises collaboration, and improves management skill, language skill and critical thinking skill, and even gaining confidence and responsibility. However, problems such as time limits, a lack of acting experience, and insufficient facilities were experienced. Suggested solutions are more acting training and better group collaboration. These findings help to further the development of interactive learning methods in literature study in higher education, like STBA JIA.

Abstract

Manga as a popular cultural product contains political and ideological content. This qualitative descriptive research will reveal the content of the symbolic content in one of the best-selling manga in the world today entitled Kimetsu No Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge. This study reads manga texts with a post-Marxism approach by applying the thought of an Italian Marxist named Antonio Gramsci. He theorized the concept of cultural hegemony, a non-violent social control carried out by the ruling class toward subordinated class  that occurs in contemporary capitalist society. Ideological, cultural, and political control have created common sense in society so that people do not realize that their daily lives are always under control. To sharpen the analysis, the study also uses the concept  of interpellation by Louis Althusser, another post-Marxist thinker who sees contemporary society believing they are subjects and having control over themselves while in fact living in an illusion created by the ruling class. This study concludes that the charismatic character, Kagaya Ubuyashiki as the supreme leader of Hashira is a symbol of the ruling class that has succeeded in exercising control through the process of cultural hegemonization to transmit the values he fights for. Meanwhile, Hashira, the nine strongest swordsmen of the demon slayer in the manga, is a symbol of a subordinated class who have internalized the political and cultural values of Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
