Abstract

Stress has various impacts on hemodialysis patients. Stress in hemodialysis patients can cause physical symptoms (fatigue, muscle cramps, nausea, and vomiting), a decrease in quality of life, and non-compliance with self-management, one of which is compliance related to limiting fluid intake, thus adversely affecting on the patient's IDWG. IDWG is an important indicator for fluid monitoring in hemodialysis patients. Increasing IDWG that exceeds the tolerance limit can have a negative impact and can even cause mortality. This study aimed to determine the correlation between stress level and IDWG among hemodialysis patients. This study was conducted in the hemodialysis unit of RSD Mangusada, involving 95 respondents. This study was quantitative, with non-experimental research using a cross-sectional approach. Data collection was carried out with DASS questionnaires for stress and observation sheets for the IDWG. The data was analyzed using Pearson's Spearman Rank (α<0.05). Respondents with IDWG within tolerance limits were the majority unstressed, and none experienced severe stress or very severe stress. There is a positive and weak correlation between stress and IDWG among patients undergoing hemodialysis. The findings from this study may provide useful information in reviewing existing nursing care and standards of care provided in hemodialysis units, including the need to consider psychological assistance services in the care of hemodialysis patients. Qualitative research is needed to explore the in-depth experience of stress in hemodialysis patients and the factors associated with it.

Abstract

Tourists who stay at the hotel have a risk of illness and/or experiencing emergency problems that interfere with the sense of security and comfort for tourists. One factor for successful emergency management is first aid proficiency. However, the knowledge and skills of hotel staff are relatively lacking in handling emergency problems for tourists.  Based on this, this service was held to train the skills of hotel staff in handling emergencies for tourists. Service activities are carried out by presentation methods and practice on basic life support. The target of this activity is the hotel staff of Ubud Raya Resort. Dedication materials were given in 5 meetings. The training material has been adjusted to travel medicine subjects and based on the results of previous research by the implementation team. The implementation of this service went smoothly and as planned. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, an increase in the knowledge and skills of participants was obtained. Based on interviews, it was found that service participants received positive benefits from the service carried out. Thus, concluded that this service was successfully carried out despite the limitations in its implementation. This community service advice re-conducting basic life support training for hotel staff so that the knowledge and skills received are beneficial in the long term.

Abstract

Introduction: T2DM can increase morbidity and mortality. Almost half of T2DM patients have impaired foot sensitivity. This increases the risk of diabetic foot ulcers, causing the patient to not feel any injuries to the legs, even to amputation. Therefore, handling the proper treatment to prevent these complications is necessary, one of which is using foot massage and active ROM. This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of foot massage and active ROM on foot sensitivity among T2DM patients at Mangusada Hospital. Methods: This study was carried out in the Kecak Room of Mangusada Hospital, involving 30 T2DM patients. This study uses a pre-experiment design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instrument used to assess foot sensitivity among T2DM patients was a 10-g monofilament applied at five points on each patient's right and left soles. The normality test results showed that the data was not normally distributed, so the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to analyze the difference in foot sensitivity of T2DM patients before and after the intervention with a significance level (α<0.05). Results: The results showed that median foot sensitivity scores improved from 7 to 8. Before the intervention, most foot sensitivity scores were 7, and after the intervention, they were 8. It can be concluded that a combination of foot massage and active ROM affected foot sensitivity among T2DM patients at Mangusada Hospital. Conclusion: Future studies should incorporate a control group and randomization to enhance validity.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Pasien hemodialisis sering mengalami ketidaknyamanan multidimensi selama prosedur yang berlangsung 3–5 jam. Intervensi non-farmakologis berbasis teknologi seperti relaxation-based immersive virtual reality (RIVR) menawarkan solusi inovatif untuk meningkatkan kenyamanan. Background: Patients undergoing hemodialysis frequently experience multidimensional discomfort during prolonged 3–5-hour sessions. Technology-based non-pharmacological interventions such as relaxation-based immersive virtual reality (RIVR) offer a promising approach to enhance patient comfort. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of RIVR on physical, psychospiritual, sociocultural, and environmental comfort among hemodialysis patients at Tabanan General Hospital, Bali. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control group design was employed with 42 patients randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 21; 10-minute nature-based RIVR) or a control group (n = 21; standard care with a relaxation leaflet). Comfort was measured using the validated Indonesian Shortened General Comfort Questionnaire (SGCQ) and analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank and Mann–Whitney U tests (α = 0.05). Results: The RIVR group showed a significant improvement in total comfort scores (Z = −5.0, p < 0.001), particularly in physical (p < 0.001), psychospiritual (p < 0.001), and environmental domains (p = 0.003). No significant change was observed in sociocultural comfort (p = 0.64). Conclusion: RIVR is an effective, non-invasive intervention to enhance multidimensional comfort in hemodialysis patients and should be integrated into holistic nephrology care protocols.

Abstract

Cancer remains one of the leading global health problems, contributing significantly to both morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cancer patients face not only invasive and prolonged treatments but also various cancer-related symptoms that affect their quality of life. Health care providers are therefore expected to innovate and deliver comprehensive care that facilitates the transition of post-cancer management from hospital to home and community settings. Telehealth has emerged as a potential solution to address these challenges. This study aimed to synthesis evidence on the impact of telehealth programs for self-management of cancer-related symptoms among cancer patients. This study employed a narrative review design. A narrative review was conducted using PubMed, EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, and Springer databases. Inclusion criteria included quantitative studies involving cancer patients, published between 2015 and 2025, open-access, and containing self-management components related to cancer care. Qualitative studies, systematic reviews, study protocols, and pilot studies were excluded. A total of seven articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The findings indicate that telehealth interventions for patients with cancer—implemented through mobile health (mHealth) and web-based platforms—have a positive impact on patients’ stress reduction, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and fear of cancer recurrence, increasing physical activity, quality of life, adherence to care. Telehealth interventions show potential to improve access to care and support cancer patients in managing symptoms within the community. Future studies should explore the strengths and limitations of various telehealth modalities.
