Abstract

The area of land in West Papua is the main capital in raising cattle. Further socialization is needed regarding the importance of paying attention to the basic nutritional needs of cattle. The use of local plants that are often used by the community, such as betel fruit, is a worthy study to be explored. However, people still do not know the other benefits contained in betel fruit. In order to obtain optimal results, the study was carried out with in vitro experiments. Data processing was performed using factorial completely randomized design with three replications. The treatment factors were differentiated based on the length of the betel fruit immersion process in ice water and the length of storage time. The analysis showed that cold storage of grass with betel fruit was successful in increasing the Volattile Fatty Acid component (P> 0.01). The habits of the people of West Papua in utilizing local plants, especially those with tannin, have been scientifically proven to be useful. Cold storage of betel fruit with the addition of grass as ration for cattle has a very significant effect on the levels of iC4 (as iso butyrate), nC4 (as n butyrate), iC5 (as iso valerate), and nC5 (as n valerate). In addition, the Papuan people's habit of adding local plants, especially betel fruit as additional feed has been scientifically proven to be useful. Abstract

Agricultural people are responsible for providing food, such as meat, eggs and milk. In providing meat, especially chicken, the cost of feed becomes an obstacle for breeders. The local wisdom of plants in Papua is an opportunity to create quality local feed. Utilization of dregs can be used as an alternative ration. The low nutrient content contained in coconut dregs requires a touch of technology to optimize coconut dregs into quality feed. The fermentation process can be a solution to these problems. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and 6 replications. R0 = 100% Basal Feed (BF); R1 = BF 80% + Fermented Coconut Dregs 20%; R2 = BF 60% + Fermented Coconut Dregs 40%. The implementation stages consisted of (1) coconut dregs fermentation stage and (2) In-Vivo test on native chickens with the observed variables: feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. The results showed that fermented coconut dregs could be given as starter phase native chicken feed without disturbing the metabolic process. The average provision of coconut dregs as native chicken feed with variable feed consumption, average daily gain (ADG), and FCR had no significant effect (P> 0.05). This means that the addition of fermented coconut dregs up to 40% has not had a significant effect on ration consumption, ADG, and FCR, so further studies are needed. Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the response of broilers to the use of Kepok banana hump flour as a partial substitute for commercial feed. Methods: This study used 256 broiler chickens, with four feed treatments, namely: T0 = 0; T1 = 10; T2 = 30 and T3 = 50% Kepok banana hump flour. The experimental cages in the form of boxes consisted of 32 units of cage plots, with a cage density of 8 birds/cage plot. Research variables: feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, carcass percentage, abdominal fat percentage, digestive tract weight, heart weight, liver weight, ventriculus weight, ammonia excreta and income over feed cost. The data obtained were analyzed according to the design used, namely: Completely Randomized Design, if the treatment was very significantly different, followed by the smallest real-test.Results: The results showed that the use of Kepok banana hump flour in commercial feed was very significant (P<0.01) on feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, carcass percentage, abdominal fat percentage, digestive tract weight, heart, liver, ventriculus, content of ammonia excreta and income over feed cost. Conclusion: Kepok banana weevil flour as a partial substitute for commercial basalt feed can be used up to 30% in broilers with the highest Income Over Feed Cost produced by feed containing 10% Kepok banana weevil flour, the addition of Kepok banana weevil flour as a partial substitute for commercial feed can reduce the ammonia excreta of broiler chickens.

Abstract

Highlighting community empowerment programs, this paper aims to develop a concept of a sustainable social business model based on sacrificial ritual activities, based on a case study of the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program of Dompet Dhuafa Republika (DDR). Survey data from interviews with 120 THK partner beef cattle farmers outside Java and observations in the implementation of the THK program along the supply chain in 2020 are presented descriptively and qualitatively, then analyzed to get a better concept formulation. The results of this research are expected to provide solutions to various problems in the implementation of Qurbani to have a positive influence, both in the form of profits and or benefits to all stakeholders (farmers, farmer groups, capital owners, DDR, marketing partners, and beneficiaries of qurbani meat) involved in the program flow. In broader practice, the program flow is worth considering in similar programs at other institutions or in a more extensive scope (country). This paper contributes by filling a gap in the supply chain management literature, where empirical studies on programs to improve the welfare of marginalized communities associated with sacrificial rituals. Empowering farmers by involving stakeholders in the supply chain from upstream to downstream, which benefits all parties involved, is feasible for business sustainability
