Abstract

This study aims to reformulate beef cattle supply chain management based on a case study in the Dompet Dhuafa Republika (DDR) program 'Tebar Hewan Kurban' (THK). This qualitative descriptive study is based on a survey in 15 locations for the empowerment of beef cattle farmers who are THK partners outside Java, and observations on program implementation along the supply chain in 2020. The beef cattle supply chain as a result of this study is described in the figure and compared with the supply chain of Kurban animals from previous studies. The results showed that the management of the cattle supply chain in THK's DDR program provided tangible benefits for partner farmers. The results of this study are expected to open new insights about the economic aspects of the implementation of Kurban that provide greater benefits to small farmers, without forgetting other stakeholders involved in the program. This paper contributes to filling the literature gap and empirical studies on community empowerment programs related to Kurban ritual activities that are still rarely carried out until now.

Abstract

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) occupy a strategic position in Indonesia, not only regarding economic growth but also on equal distribution of income in society. In various crisis conditions, the resilience of MSMEs has been tested. The Indonesian government always pays special attention to this business group through multiple departments or ministries. Apart from the government, the private sector also pays great attention to multiple levels of MSME development through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. This study aims to explore and elaborate on PT BumiSuksesindo's CSR programs in fostering new entrepreneurs. The analysis was carried out on six in-depth interviews with beneficiaries/groups of beneficiaries. These findings indicate that the company's CSR program is a charity program (donation) and empowerment (empowerment). The benefits of the BSI CSR program are also manifested in forming new entrepreneurs. The implications of this research can be taken into account by stakeholders to continue the program to foster new entrepreneurs in the operating locations..

Abstract

Indonesian philanthropy has experienced substantial turmoil since early 2020. The Doing Good Index 2020 survey raised Indonesia's position to 'Doing Okay' after several years in the 'Not Doing Enough' position. This index includes indicators such as monetary donations, time contributions, and assistance to foreigners. Indonesia often ranks high on the indicators for contributing time and assistance to foreigners in this index. The question that arises from this ranking is whether it has anything to do with Islamic philanthropy? and whether the alleged misappropriation of charitable funds through various social and commercial activities will affect public confidence. This commentary focuses Strictly on the perspective of Islam and Indonesia in general in understanding philanthropy. Public interest statements This brief provides practitioners and academics with information on the development of philanthropy in Indonesia during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and after the revelations of the ACT case. Regardless of trends and rankings, philanthropy helps raise social awareness of the problems and challenges faced by society. Philanthropy involves developing human values such as kindness, empathy, cooperation, and concern for others. Abstract

Highlighting community empowerment programs, this paper aims to develop a concept of a sustainable social business model based on sacrificial ritual activities, based on a case study of the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program of Dompet Dhuafa Republika (DDR). Survey data from interviews with 120 THK partner beef cattle farmers outside Java and observations in the implementation of the THK program along the supply chain in 2020 are presented descriptively and qualitatively, then analyzed to get a better concept formulation. The results of this research are expected to provide solutions to various problems in the implementation of Qurbani to have a positive influence, both in the form of profits and or benefits to all stakeholders (farmers, farmer groups, capital owners, DDR, marketing partners, and beneficiaries of qurbani meat) involved in the program flow. In broader practice, the program flow is worth considering in similar programs at other institutions or in a more extensive scope (country). This paper contributes by filling a gap in the supply chain management literature, where empirical studies on programs to improve the welfare of marginalized communities associated with sacrificial rituals. Empowering farmers by involving stakeholders in the supply chain from upstream to downstream, which benefits all parties involved, is feasible for business sustainability
