Abstract

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly sub-target 4.6, aim to enhance literacy and numeracy skills among adolescents and adults by the year 2030. This study analyzes the mahārat al-kitābah content in the Grade 2 Arabic textbook for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2020, from the perspective of Rushdī Aḥmad Ṭu‘aymah, and examines its role in supporting the SDGs. Using a qualitative method with content analysis as the primary data collection technique, the study finds that the textbook aligns with Ṭu‘aymah’s framework for teaching mahārat al-kitābah. The content includes recognizing the shapes of hijā’iyah letters, copying letters and words, writing simple sentences, and answering questions in written form. Overall, the mahārat al-kitābah content in the textbook supports foundational Arabic writing skills and contributes to the achievement of SDG 4 by promoting multilingual literacy, equitable access to literacy development, comprehensive language competence, and quality education.

Abstract

This study investigates the rhetorical structures of conclusion sections in Arabic research articles written by Arab native speakers and Indonesian scholars. Using Yang and Allison’s (2003) move-step framework and a directed content analysis approach, the study examined a balanced corpus of 80 articles from linguistics and education journals. The findings reveal that Move 2 (summary of results and evaluation) is obligatory, appearing in all texts, while Move 1 (introduction) and Move 3 (implications and recommendations) are conventional but vary in frequency. Arab authors tended to emphasize Move 3, highlighting implications and prospective contributions, whereas Indonesian authors relied more on Move 1 and Move 2, stressing restatement and summary. Linguistics articles favored Move 2, while education articles highlighted Move 3. The analysis of tense and diathesis further indicates that Arab writers used māḍī (past) to stress finality and majhūl (passive) for impersonal reporting, while Indonesian writers favored muḍāriʿ (present/future) and maʿlūm (active) for generalization and clarity. Theoretically, the study confirms the adaptability of the genre-based move-step framework across languages and disciplines. Practically, it offers pedagogical insights for teaching Arabic academic writing, emphasizing discipline-sensitive genre awareness and rhetorical flexibility

Abstract

This study discusses the application of clue-based word association methods in the learning of hijaiyah letters for early childhood, specifically ages 4-5 years. The purpose of the research is to explore the influence of word-based clues on children's memory in recognizing hijaiyah letters and to identify the psycholinguistic factors that affect the success of the learning process. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observational techniques at a tutoring center for learning hijaiyah letters. The research results show that the use of clues based on familiar words, such as "bakso" for the letter ص (sho) and "soto" for the letter ط (tho), significantly enhances children's memory. Older children (5 years old) tend to understand letters more quickly compared to 4-year-olds, indicating the influence of cognitive development on learning. However, certain less familiar letters, such as ض (do), are still difficult for some children to remember. This finding highlights the importance of the relevance of clues to the child's experience for effective learning.
