Abstract

One of Indonesia's most critical mission figures is Matheus Mangentang (MM). His project was carried out across nearly all of Indonesia through SETIA and GKSI. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of literature and studies analyzing the missions that MM has completed. Researchers discovered numerous findings through qualitative approaches, particularly literature or literature studies. First, MM's compassion for oppressed souls—the bulk of whom lived in isolated or rural areas—was the catalyst for the birth of his mission. Therefore, that inspired him to reach out to them, uplift them, and share the good news of redemption with them to ultimately free them from spiritual, educational, and even economic weakness.

Abstract

Abstract: Smoking is a lifestyle that is often found in the practical lives of people, including Christians and even servants of God. This practice raises pros and cons, because the concept of the Bible does not explicitly teach about “no smoking”. Meanwhile, the church is divided on how to deal with it, some consider it no problem, but others see it as something that should not be done. This study was conducted to find a theological principle from the Bible to affirm that Christians do not smoke. Using a qualitative research or literature review approach, several theological reasons were found as follows: (1) the body was created in the image and likeness of God, (2) the body has also received redemption in Christ, and (3) the body will also be resurrected and glorified in eternity.

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of suicide that is rampant in society. As Christians, it is necessary to study it in order to find the right formula to be conveyed to the congregation as a pastoral reference to prevent the massive practice of suicide in the church. By using qualitative research methods, especially literature review, the following conclusions were found. The practice of suicide is a practice that is not desired by God. Or in other words, this act is carried out according to the desires of the human heart and will, thus rejecting God's sovereignty in human life. That is why every Christian is not allowed to do this practice.

Abstract

Conflict is an unavoidable reality, even within the church, which often becomes trapped in internal disputes. This situation necessitates a biblical theological model for conflict resolution. This research aims to construct a theology of conflict based on an analysis of the Epistle to Philemon, specifically focusing on the conflict between Philemon and Onesimus. Using a qualitative method through a literature review and biblical exegesis, this study examines the conflict resolution strategy employed by the Apostle Paul. The findings indicate that Paul did not merely mediate but implemented a transformative, Gospel-centered approach, which included persuasive communication, assumption of responsibility, and total forgiveness that changed the relationship from master-slave to brothers in faith. This concept is formulated as "freedom from conflict," a liberation that frees from oppressive structures, enables love and forgiveness, and actualizes a harmonious fellowship as the body of Christ. In conclusion, the Epistle to Philemon offers an evangelical paradigm of reconciliation as a fundamental solution for personal and communal conflicts in the contemporary church.
