Abstract

This study focuses on the social criticism contained in the short stories by Raudal Tanjung Banua. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a sociological literature approach. The research data is in the form of quotations that contain social criticism. Data collection was carried out using a note-taking technique. The data analysis was carried out using Miles and Huberman's theory, namely: (1) identifying short stories, (2) reducing data, (3) presenting data, (4) interpreting data, (5) concluding interpretation results. The results showed that the short stories by Raudal Tanjung Banua contain very complex social criticisms. The social problems that are the target of criticism in the short story include criticism of the hunting of protected animals, humanitarian problems, economic problems, partisanship of the press media, weak principles of religion to the arbitrariness of officials towards the little people. Various social criticisms contained in the short stories can be used as material for reflection for all readers for better changes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada kajian makna, fungsi, dan proses pewarisan mantra-mantra Jawa dalam kehidupan masyarakat Cahaya Mas Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan objektif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara mendalam. Data penelitian berupa empat mantra yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara terhadap informan tunggal. Mantra-mantra yang telah diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keempat mantra memiliki muatan makna kereligiusitasan yang tinggi. Kereligiusan yang dimaksud meliputi aspek kepasrahan dan ketauhidan. Makna sosial juga tercermin di dalam mantra yang mencakup hubungan manusia dengan sesama dan lingkungan sekitar. Beberapa fungsi yang terkandung di dalam mantra, di antaranya adalah fungsi kekebalan, fungsi sosial, fungsi kekeluargaan, fungsi cinta kasih, dan fungsi komunikasi antara manusia dengan Tuhannya. Adapun proses pewarisan mantra diawali dengan terjalinnya kedekatan hubungan emosional, penyerahan mahar, pemberian mantra, dan laku tirakat puasa sehari semalam. Adapun hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan saat melakukan pembacaan mantra adalah kebersihan badan dan tempat, niat yang lurus, dan kefokusan. Ketiga syarat tersebut harus dipenuhi agar mantra yang dibaca dapat memberikan manfaat sebagaimana yang diharapkan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan unsur-unsur intrinsik dan nilai moral yang terkandung dalam kumpulan cerpen Tuhan buat Vasty Suntingan Asep Sambodja. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keunikan cerpen yang peneliti temukan saat membacanya. Teori struktural yang digunakan adalah teori Nurgiantoro, sedangkan teori nilai moral yang digunakan adalah teori Suseno. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif melalui pendekatan objektif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan teknik catat, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Analisis struktural dalam penelitian ini menekankan pada analisis unsur-unsur intrinsik cerpen yang meliputi tema, tokoh, penokohan, latar, alur, sudut pandang, dan amanat. Unsur-unsur tersebut membentuk satu kesatuan yang utuh dalam mewujudkan nilai-nilai moral di dalamnya. Adapun nilai moral yang terkandung di dalam cerpen meliputi kepedulian sosial, toleransi, kejujuran, kesediaan bertanggung jawab, keberanian moral, religiositas, bekerja keras, dan optimisme.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to describe the stimulation of children's ability to recognize letters through card media. In this study the method used is descriptive qualitative method which is a literature study. Researchers use various written sources such as books, articles, journals, theses and documents that are relevant to the research in this study. In the study of this research literature, there was an increase in Children's Ability to Recognize Letters through the media of theme cards in early childhood learning. Learning in this study focuses on card media in improving children's ability to recognize letters. The results of several card media studies can improve children's ability to recognize letters and read in children, through themes that are taught in every school. Playing or games is the right way to develop early childhood language skills, especially in letter recognition. The learning atmosphere can be realized in a letter guessing game using card media, which makes children feel happy and not boring.

Abstract

Suroan is one of the typical traditions of Javanese society. These traditions contain various deep meanings and noble values. This study aims to reveal the meaning and value of the suroan tradition in Javanese society in Cahaya Mas Village. The research was conducted using qualitative methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively by outlining the meanings and values contained in the suroan tradition in the Javanese community in Cahaya Mas village. The results showed that the suroan tradition in the life of the Javanese community, especially in the Cahaya Mas village was carried out as a form of hope, gratitude to God, and at the same time opening virtues in the new year in order to obtain a life filled with blessings. In practice, this goal is symbolized in various components of typical food, such as jenang sengkolo, jenang abang white jenang, golong limo, sego brok, sacred sekol, wulam sari. This component is a symbol of hope for the Javanese people in welcoming the new year. The suroan tradition carried out also contains noble values which include cultural values, cooperation values, responsibility values, social care values, tolerance values, and religiosity values. These values are very feasible to be instilled and practiced in the life of society, nation and state.

Abstract

A language is a communication tool used by humans to exchange information between individuals, both in the form of ideas, feelings, and emotions. Every communication process carried out by humans produces speech acts. This study aimed to describe the communication function and strategy for realizing directive speech acts in the collection of short stories Pandawa Kurawa by Agus Hiplunudin. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a pragmatic theory approach. The data source was a collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin. The data was collected through a reading-note technique which was then analyzed descriptively. The research data analysis was carried out by identifying the data, reducing the data, presenting the data, interpreting the data, and concluding the interpretation results. The results showed that the collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin contains a variety of communication functions and strategies for the realization of directive speech acts. The directive speech act was found in communication functions including advising, asking, demanding, ordering, forcing, suggesting, challenging, complaining, encouraging, and asking. Further, the strategies used to realize directive speech acts include a speech strategy without small talk, a speech strategy with positive politeness, and a speech strategy with negative politeness.

Abstract

Character education based on local wisdom is one character education model that is quite effective in shaping Indonesian human character. This study aims to describe the pattern of implementation of character education based on local wisdom in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Nurul Huda University. This research was field research conducted using qualitative methods. The results show that the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Nurul Huda University implemented character education based on local wisdom in every learning activity. The local wisdom that forms the basis for character education is the local wisdom of the Islamic boarding school and the Komering culture. Character education is based on local wisdom reflected through the vision and mission, the learning process, and student activities under the auspices of the Study Program. Through the implementation of character education based on local wisdom, students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Nurul Huda University are expected to become virtuous individuals of superior quality, dignified, and have a Pancasila spirit.

Abstract

Feminist ideology, especially regarding the image of women in literary works, can open up society's views more broadly and comprehensively regarding various gender issues. The aim of this research is to describe the image of the main female character in the Jambi folk tale Legend of the Putri Cermin Cina. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. Research data in the form of sentence quotations was obtained through reading and note-taking techniques. Next, the data was analyzed using interactive techniques. The results of this research show that the main female character in the Legend of the Chinese Mirror Princess is depicted as a social woman who has high complexity. Judging from her physical image, the main female character is depicted as a beautiful woman, smiling, polite in speaking, and graceful. Judging from the psychological aspect, the main female character is depicted as someone who is soft-hearted and always happy. In her role in the family, the female character is described as careful, agile, diligent, skilled, and devoted to her parents. As for their role in community life, female characters are described as having a high social spirit, being very loved by the community, and having noble character.

Abstract

Penggunaan bahasa yang santun dapat menciptakan keharmonisan dalam setiap interaksi komunikasi di tengah kehidupan sosial. Oleh karena itu, penerapan prinsip-prinsip kesantunan berbahasa sangat diperlukan dalam setiap komunikasi yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pematuhan dan pelanggaran terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa Jawa dalam wacana komunikasi keluarga. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Data penelitian berwujud tuturan-tuturan dari anggota keluarga dalam kelompok masyarakat yang ada di kelurahan Cahaya Mas kecamatan Mesuji Makmur. Data penelitian yang berwujud tuturan tersebut dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak-rekam-catat. Setelah terkumpul, data dianalisis menggunakan teknik interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pematuhan dan pelanggaran terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa Jawa mewarnai setiap komunikasi  yang dilakukan masyarakat di lingkungan keluarganya. Pematuhan terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa Jawa meliputi, (1) maksim kebijaksanaan, (2) maksim kedermawanan, (3) maksim penghargaan, (4) maksim kesederhanaan, (5) maksim permufakatan, dan (6) maksim kesimpatisan. Adapun pelanggaran terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa meliputi, (1) maksim kebijaksanaan, (2) maksim kesederhanaan, (3) maksim penghargaan, dan (4) maksim . Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat dikatakan bahwa pematuhan terhadap prinsip kesantunan berbahasa Jawa dalam setiap interaksi komunikasi yang dilakukan masyarakat di lingkungan keluarganya lebih mendominasi daripada pelanggarannya.

Abstract

Facts on the ground show that there are still many mistakes in the practice of speaking Indonesian in the community. The Indonesian language errors in question include errors in the oral and written realms. In the realm of writing, Indonesian language errors are often found in outdoor media, such as posters and bulletin boards. This study aims to describe errors in Indonesian in writing outdoor media in Mesuji Makmur District. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of words, sentences, or discourses that are obtained directly in the field through various outdoor media, such as posters, bulletin boards, stretch cloth, and similar media in the Mesuji Makmur sub-district. As for analyzing the data, the following steps were used; (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) temporary conclusion drawing, and (4) verification. The results showed various forms of language errors were found in the writing of outdoor media in the Mesuji Makmur sub-district. The errors in question include; (1) spelling errors, (2) word choice errors, (3) morphological errors, and (4) errors in the use of prepositions
