Abstract

The strategy for developing local layer agribusiness in North Sulawesi addresses the gap between growing consumption needs and limited product availability. The purpose of this research is to conduct a business feasibility study and formulate a strategy for local layer business development in North Sulawesi. The result of the research states that the development strategy priorities include partnership patterns, fostering human resources (HR) breeders in an integrated manner, encouraging investment growth, increasing the productivity of local layer businesses in rural areas, improving genetic quality, developing culinary businesses, creating production facilities, encouraging the rise of local layer SMEs in the countryside, encouraging the development of science technology and digitization of local layer cultivation in rural areas, vaccination programs, and utilizing unused land for the development of intensification of chicken farming in rural areas.

Abstract

The production of beef cattle farming enterprises in North Sulawesi has not been able to meet people consumption needs. This condition is due to their slow absorption of breeding technology information among farmers, while the existing internet technology is merely used for entertainment needs. This research paper is to encourage the formation of an empowering model for beef cattle farmers in rural areas using websites. The findings suggested that the design model should be based upon farmer’s capabilities and existence of farmers, since they have adequate information about websites as outreach media needed for farmer empowerment.

Abstract

The business of raising cattle in North Sulawesi is still carried out in traditionalextensive ways, because the main objective of farmers is to raise cattle only to be used as agricultural labor. As a result, the population and productivity of cattle in North Sulawesi are not well developed. Though the number of requests for beef consumption is very high, so that there is a gap between consumption needs and the availability of production. For the development of the agribusiness system, the concept of development strategy is needed, so the purpose of this study is to find a model for agribusiness development of beef cattle in North Sulawesi. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data analysis is "four qualitative stages" and "strategy formulations" (EFE, IFE, SWOT, IE and QSPM). Based on the results of analysis, beef cattle farms in North Sulawesi are in a growing and constructive position which has a high industrial attractiveness and has the potential to be developed towards a modern-intensive maintenance system, namely developing business with agribusiness system models (efficiency and market considerations) and farming systems / family system (consideration of traditional experience and quantity of available farmer resources).

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the Red Pig Farm business. This study uses a survey method through a case study approach on Mr. Ferry Wawo's pig farming business. Uses a quantitative descriptive method. The data collection period is from April 2024 - April 2025. The results of this study indicate that the Red Pig Farm has implemented good technical aspects such as feeding, maintenance management, housing, and disease prevention and this pig farming business provides income. Where production costs consist of fixed costs and variable costs as well as total costs, where fixed costs consist of; depreciation costs for cages and equipment, and tax costs for one year amounting to Rp42,897,143, for variable costs Rp244,203,043, the total cost of the Red Pig Farm livestock business for one year amounting to Rp287,100,186. The income of the Red Pig Farm livestock business for one year of production period is obtained from the sale of pigs and livestock that have not been sold (stock) where the number of livestock sold is 64 and livestock that have not been sold is 49 with a total value of Rp830,350,000. For the income of Red Pig Farm for one year amounting to Rp543,567,814. For the level of profit or income from the Red Pig Farm livestock business, based on the results of the R/C ratio analysis, the value obtained was 2.90 or RC ratio 1, so the business run by Mr. Ferry Wawo made a profit. The conclusion is that the Red Pig Farm pig farming business in Kelurahan Pangolombian, South Tomohon District, Tomohon City, is still able to demonstrate good performance and survive after the ASF virus outbreak, while also generating adequate income and having good prospects for future development.
