Abstract

Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) is a natural hair growth tonic manufactured with a combination of aloe vera gel and dried moringa leaf extract as its active ingredients. Aloe vera includes a variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A and C, amino acids, copper, inositol, and others. The extract from moringa leaves also includes tanins, vital amino acids, vitamin C, vitamin E, and other nutrients. One of the products with 2% minoxidil is employed as a positive control. Several hair diseases are treated off-label with the powerful arteriol vasoconstrictor minoxidil, which can also promote hair growth. In order to determine the effectiveness of Natural Hair Growth Tonic, tests were done on male New Zealand white rabbit hair. Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) is one of the products containing 2% minoxidil, with variations in the content of dried moringa leaf extracts of 2%, 4%, and 6% in comparison to the positive control. On the backs of five rabbits, six test regions were created, and each area received a different treatment every day using a sample volume of 0.5 ml. Results of the Natural Hair Growth Tonic's physical evaluation: Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) has a liquid shape, a distinct aroma, a pH of 6, and is homogeneous with the yellow-golden color of the formulae 1 and 2 as well as the golden brown in the formula 3. It also varies in the concentration of the dried moringa leaf extracts. Formula 4 (negative control) has the appearance of a liquid, is dazzling white in color, and emits a distinct odor. Additionally, formula 5 (positive control) has a liquid-like consistency, a vivid yellowish color, and a distinguishable scent. The average reserve viscosity for formula 1 was 2.96 ± 0.14 cPs, for formula 2 it was 2.99 ± 0.10 cPs, and for formula 3 it was 4.05 ± 0.07 cPs. Formula 4 (negative control) had a value 2.96 ± 0.10 cPs, and formula 5 (positive control) had a value of 1.82 ± 0.03 cPs. The average result of rabbit hair growth on the seventh day for treatment 1 is 0.22 ± 0.17 cm, treatment 2 is 0.30 ± 0.23 cm, treatment 3 is 0.42 ± 0.42 cm, treatment 4 is 0.58 ± 0.47 cm, treatment 5 is 0.68 ± 0.36 cm, and treatment 6 is 0.90 ± 0.42 cm. On the 14th day of treatment 1, the average result of rabbit hair growth was 0.43 ± 0.06 cm; on the same day, treatment 2, 0.27± 0.18 cm; on the same day, treatment 3, 0.42 ± 0.33 cm; on the same day, treatment 4, 0.77 ± 0.22 cm; on the same day, treatment 5, 0.28 ± 0.24 cm; and on the same day, treatment 6, 0.43 ± 0.38 cm. The average length of rabbit hair on the 21st day for treatment 1 was 0.43 ± 0.26 cm, for treatment 2 was 0.73 ± 0.19 cm, for treatment 3 was 0.32 ± 0.23 cm, for treatment 4 was 0.48 ± 0.31 cm, for treatment 5 was 0.13 ± 0.17 cm, and for treatment 6 was 0,43 ± 0.30 cm.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse extract (Saccharum officinarum Linn.) has high antioxidant activity due to its phenolic compounds, which are beneficial for moisturizing dry skin, smoothing the skin, and combating free radicals. This study aimed to evaluate the physical stability of exfoliating and moisturizing gel formulations containing sugarcane bagasse extract at concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% using the cycling test method over six cycles (12 days) at temperatures of ±4°C and ±40°C. Parameters tested included organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesiveness. The results showed that the formulations without extract (control) and those with 1% extract concentration met the physical stability parameters and remained stable throughout the cycling test, with viscosity ranging from 13,665.7 to 20,180.6 cPs, pH between 4.76 and 5.43, spreadability from 3.25 to 5.64 cm, and adhesiveness from 0.42 to 1.52 seconds. In contrast, formulations with 3% and 5% extract concentrations exhibited physical instability, such as changes in pH, viscosity, and spreadability, failing to pass the stability test cycles.

Abstract

Desa Wisata Kampung Nglurah beralamatkan di Dusun Nglurah, Kelurahan Tawangmangu, Kecamatan Tawangmangu, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Di desa wisata kampung Nglurah relatif aman dan tentram, namun ada konflik yang sampai hari ini terjadi yaitu adanya pandemi virus corona yang menyerang sistem pernafasan dan mengakibatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh seseorang melemah. Jika sistem kekebalan melemah, kemampuan untuk melindungi tubuh juga berkurang, sehingga patogen, termasuk virus dapat tumbuh dan berkembang dalam tubuh, dari itu perlu adanya upaya untuk menaikkan daya tahan tubuh dengan cara mengkonsumsi obat-obatan, berolahraga, ataupun dengan suplementasi makanan. Suplementasi bahan makanan alam yang mengandung imunostimulan salah satunya adalah serai dan jahe. Serai mengandung dua senyawa utama yang memiliki manfaat sebagai anti-inflamasi yaitu citral dan geranial. Sedangkan jahe mengandung gingerol yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan berbagai jenis bakteri dan antioksidan dapat memperkuat kekebalan tubuh. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tentang penggunaan teh serai jahe sebagai penambah daya tahan tubuh menggunakan daun stevia sebagai pemanis alami ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat akan penggunaan tanaman obat yang berada di lingkungan sekitar khususnya serai, jahe dan daun stevia. Harapannya masyarakat dapat memahami manfaat dari tanaman tersebut seperti serai dan jahe sebagai penambah daya tahan tubuh dan daun stevia sebagai pemanis alami yang aman untuk penderita diabetes. Metode pelaksanaan dalam kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan ceramah, demonstrasi dan pelatihan, serta dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Pendopo Guyub, Rukun, Dusun Nglurah, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar dan diikuti oleh 30 orang peserta dari anggota Pokdarwis Sewu Kembang. Peserta sangat antusias dalam memperhatikan materi yang disampaikan dan dalam bertanya. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan produk teh celup serai jahe stevia yang didaftarkan HKI dan artikel ilmiah yang diterbitkan di Jurnal Nasional

Abstract

Diare merupakan kondisi dimana frekuensi defekasi yang tidak biasa lebih dari 3 hari sekali, juga perubahan dalam jumlah dan konsistensi feses cair. Penyakit diare sangat sering dialami oleh anak – anak. Penyakit diare masih menjadi masalah di dunia maupun di Indonesia itu sendiri. Kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan dengan memberikan materi presentasi dan diskusi tentang cara membuat oralit yang benar dan alternatif mengatasi diare dengan bubur tempe sebagai upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat khususnya ibu-ibu yang memiliki anak di Desa Sejahtera Kecamatan Palolo, Kabupaten Sigi, Sulawesi Tengah. Presentasi dipaparkan oleh pemateri dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan membagi poster/leaflet kemudian di lanjutkan dengan tanya jawab. Hasil kajian dari kegiatan penyuluhan kesehatan ini yaitu 89,17% atau baik hal ini menandakan peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman ibu tentang penyakit diare dan penanganan diare pada balita dengan bubur tempe. Masyarakat mengalami peningkatan keterampilan dalam upaya penanganan diare pada balita dengan mendemonstrasikan kembali cara pembuatan bubur tempe

Abstract

Degenerative diseases in the elderly are a significant health problem in Tanggan Village, Gesi District, Sragen Regency, with the majority of the population (70%) working as farm laborers. Economic limitations make access to health services a challenge, while public knowledge about processing natural ingredients into scientific herbal concoctions is still minimal. This community service activity aims to improve public knowledge and skills in making scientific herbal concoctions to treat hypertension, gout, cholesterol, and diabetes mellitus. The methods used include lectures, demonstrations, and discussions involving 35 elderly people. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge about the concept of scientific herbal medicine, with 90% of participants being able to answer questions related to the material presented. Participants also succeeded in practicing making scientific herbal concoctions according to the recommended dosage. This activity has a positive impact on increasing community independence to maintain health through the use of scientifically processed herbal ingredients, as well as reducing dependence on chemical drugs.

Abstract

KUB Aroma Alam merupakan suatu kelompok usaha bersama yang didirikan oleh bapak Sriyanto Broto Suseno yang terletak di Dk. Watesari, Desa Sruni, Kec. Musuk, Boyolali, Jawa Tengah. KUB Aroma Alam memproduksi minyak atsiri dari berbagai jenis tumbuhan dan air mawar yang telah disalurkan ke beberapa kota besar di Indonesia seperti Sulawesi, Surabaya, Bogor dan beberapa kota lainnya. Pemasaran yang dilakukan di kota-kota besar hanya dilakukan jika mendapatkan permintaan, tetapi belum mengalami penjualan yang signifikan. Hal ini masih menjadi permasalahan yang dialami oleh KUB Aroma Alam, karena kurangnya pemahaman tentang cara pembuatan sediaan farmasi ataupun kosmetik yang berasal dari minyak atsiri. Salah satu minyak atsiri yang dibuat yaitu minyak atsiri sereh wangi atau dikenal dengan Citronella Oil. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu untuk memberikan peluang bisnis kepada KUB Aroma Alam dan masyarakat sekitar dengan memberikan pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan sediaan kosmetik yang berasal dari minyak atsiri yaitu berupa spray anti nyamuk. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan 3 tahap yaitu ceramah, demonstrasi dan pelatihan, serta dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 40 Orang Warga Dk. Watesari. Peserta sangat antusias memperhatikan dan bertanya mengenai cara pengolahan minyak atsiri menjadi spray anti nyamuk. Target luaran yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini yaitu berupa produk spray anti nyamuk yang dapat diproduksi oleh masyarakat guna meningkatkan taraf ekomomi keluarga.

Abstract

Hewan bekicot (Achatina fulica) banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai pengobatan tradisional dan kosmetik karena mengandung protein achasin, acharan sulfat, zat beta aglutinin, asam hialuronat, enzim glikoprotein, proteoglycan, glycosaminoglycan dan allantoin. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dan tabir surya pada lendir bekicot menggunakan spektrofotometer uv-vis. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental, menggunakan sampel lendir bekicot dengan konsentrasi 5%, 10%, dan 15%. Hasil skrining fitokimia diperoleh bahwa lendir bekicot mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder berupa alkaloid, fenol, saponin, dan tanin. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, aktivitas antioksidan lendir bekicot pada konsentrasi 5%, 10%, dan 15% memiliki nilai IC50 berturut-turut yaitu 83,63 ± 0,57 ppm; 57,93 ± 0,82 ppm; dan 31,59 ± 0,59 ppm dengan kategori kuat (IC50 50-100 ppm) dan kategori sangat kuat (IC50 < 50 ppm). Nilai SPF diperoleh berturut-turut yaitu 14,77 ± 0,42; 21,67 ± 0,06 dan 27,67± 0,59 dengan tipe proteksi maksimal (SPF 8-15) dan tipe proteksi ultra (SPF > 15). Berdasarkan analisis SPSS menggunakan One Way Anova diketahui bahwa variasi konsentrasi lendir bekicot berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil aktivitas antioksidan dan tabir surya sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa lendir bekicot memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang dapat mencegah terbentuknya senyawa radikal bebas pada kulit dari dalam dan aktivitas tabir surya yang dapat melindungi kulit dari luar akibat radiasi sinar UV yang dipaparkan pada kulit setiap hari.

Abstract

The condition of our community in the midst of a pandemic makes us aware of the importance of cleanliness. One way to maintain cleanliness is to clean our self with soap. Cinnamon has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Lemongrass has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, while lemons are able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The aims of this study are to determine the formulation and physical stability of liquid soap with a combination of lemongrass, cinnamon, and lemon essential oils and to determine its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Physical evaluation of soap includes organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, and specific gravity which is compared with SNI, and hedonic test is performed. Antibacterial test was performed against Staphylococcus epidermidis.The results of the study obtained homogeneous liquid soap preparations, thick liquid form, a yellow-orange color, distinctive smell of citronella. Specific gravity (g/ml) test results meet the requirements of SNI, which is between 1.01 – 1.10 at room temperature. The results of the pH test meet the requirements of SNI, which are between 8 – 11. The results of the viscosity (cPas) test show that there is an increase in viscosity from week 1 to week 6. The increase in viscosity is related to particle size during storage. The foam height (cm) test results obtained F1: 11.76 ± 0.67, F2: 11.67 ± 1.25, F3: 11.33 ± 1.02, F4: 11.60 ± 0.79, F5: 11.18 ± 0.84. The results of the hedonic test obtained that the average respondent liked the foam produced, the shape, color, comfort when used, and the smell. The lowest value of the hedonic test is the smell of the liquid soap that is produced. From the results of antibacterial test against S. Epidermidis, it is known that liquid soap has antibacterial activity with strong inhibitory power.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse (Saccharum officinarum Linn.) contains most of the phenolic compounds including gallic acid, ferulic acid, epicatechin, quercetin, and kaempferol. Various phenolic compounds contained in sugarcane bagasse, especially phenolic acids, have important bioactivity for the cosmetics industry. The aim of this research is to determine the potential of sugarcane bagasse as an active ingredient in cosmetics and its effectiveness as an exfoliator and skin moisturizer. This research method is experimental, using sugarcane bagasse samples with concentrations of 1%, 3% and 5%. The results of phytochemical screening showed that sugarcane bagasse contains phenolic compounds, flavonoids and phytosterols. Based on the research results, sugarcane bagasse exfoliating gel at concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% increased skin tone respectively, namely 1.00 ± 0.67; 0.40±0.49; and 0.30 ± 0.39. Sugarcane bagasse moisturizing gel at concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% had a percent increase in skin water content, respectively, namely 6.92 ± 11.094; 2.72±10.21; and 3.36 ± 6.49. Based on SPSS analysis, it is known that variations in the concentration of bagasse extract and the time of use have a significant effect on increasing skin tone. Meanwhile, variations in the concentration of bagasse extract did not have a significant effect on increasing skin water content. However, the time of use has a significant effect on the increase in skin water content. So, it can be concluded that sugarcane bagasse extract has the potential to be an active ingredient in making cosmetics and is effective as an exfoliator and skin moisturizer.
