Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of independent learning curriculum for increasing students’ motivation and interest in learning English language at SMK Analis Kesehatan Nasional, Surakarta. The respondents of this study were 25 eleventh grade students of vocationalsenior high school. This research method in this study applied qualitative research with case study. Techniques of data collection in this study were observation, interview, and closed-ended questionnaires. The results of this study showed that the implementation of independent learning curriculum positively influenced students’ motivation and interest in learning English language. From the results of questionnaire, 90% of students had high motivation in learning English language, 95% students had high curiosity in English language, 90% of students had high interest in learning English language independently, 85% of students preferred fun English language learning method, and 90% of students also had high target to English language learning achievement.

Abstract

Teachers as facilitator need to find creative teaching media for English writing skills. Students tend to have difficulty to write in English language, especially for hotel and cruise ship students. One of the reasons is students didn’t have any view and interest to build idea and didn’t have enough English vocabulary. Therefore, researchers try to present and explain that Google Review can be a digital teaching media to help educators teaching students in English writing skill about descriptive text. This study explains about feature introduction, application procedure, and teaching strategy. This study used descriptive qualitative method. To collect the data, this study used observation, interview, and literature review. In conclusion, Google Review is flexible and interesting teaching media that allow students to write and describe tourist place based on their own feeling, taste, thought, and experience.

Abstract

One approach to learning that places a strong emphasis on student participation is project-based learning. According to this study, Project Based Learning (PJBL) approach greatly enhances student lectures, particularly when it comes to boosting interest for English classes and helping non-English department college students develop their English writing abilities through the creation of digital writing projects. Utilizing surveys to gauge students' motivation levels and pre- and post-test scores to gauge the growth in students' skills, a quantitative methodology was applied. According to data processing, the average score for the pre-test was 76.3, and the average score for the post-test increased to 80.5. Concurrently, the findings of these calculations support the findings of student questionnaires, which indicate that project-based learning lectures might boost student enthusiasm.Keywords: English Writing, Digital Writing, Project Based Learning

Abstract

Conflict and integration materials are part of sociology topics that relatively abstract and not attractive leading to low motivation for students to learn. Material in sociology will be easily conveyed by teachers and accepted by students when using media. Learning conflict and integration material raises many issues in stories in society. Wayang is a traditional performance that tells a lot about real conditions in society and functions as not only learning medium in sociology, especially material on conflict and integration but also preserving culture of wayang for generation Z. This research aims to provide references for teachers in using learning media. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method that focuses on the natural conditions of the experiment or data sources so that researchers obtain valid and in-depth information that is appropriate to the conditions of the research field. The main data for this research were obtained from participant observation of the teaching and learning process in the classroom. There are 3 results of this research. Firstly, learning the sociology of conflict and integration material using Wayang becomes more enjoyable and easier to understand for Al-Firdaus High School students. Secondly, the implementation of learning using Wayang related to reality in society through wayang stories and its plots motivated Al Firdaus High School students to study. Thirdly, the use of wayang as a sociology lesson provides a new reference in the learning process which is increasingly varied to be used as a learning medium and can be applied in other subjects.

Abstract

Creative learning media in innovative education should be sufficient to motivate students to learn English, especially to improve English speaking skill. One of application-based learning media that can make second language learners interested in learning English-speaking skills is the Beelinguapp. This research aims to improve English speaking skill for 2nd semester college students of STMIK Sinar Nusantara Surakarta by using Beelinguap mobile application. This study used quantitative method. This study also used a pre-experimental method having pre-test and post-test. This research focused on 30 students of Bachelor’s degree from Informatics program in academic year 2023/2024. In the result of study, the average of the pre-test score is 49.33 and the result of the average score of the post test is 70.4. It can be concluded that learning media using Beelinguapp can improve students' English-speaking skills because there is an increase of 0.43% from the pre-test to post-test.

Abstract

UMKM Soramen memiliki potensi sebagai salah satu wisata kuliner di Surakarta dengan produk ramen yang dikenal ramah menyesuaikan lidah pecinta kuliner Indonesia. Akan tetapi, UMKM Soramen mengalami kesulitan dalam pengembangan promosi digital untuk bangkit kembali setelah pandemi Covid-19. UMKM Soramen memahami keterbatasan kemampuan staff dalam promosi atau marketing digital sehingga UMKM tersebut membutuhkan bantuan dari pihak ketiga. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu UMKM Soraman dalam mengatasi permasalahan mengenai promosi digital dan mengenalkan UMKM Soramen kepada masyarakat dengan pembuatan video profil sebagai media promosi digital UMKM Soramen. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah (1) Video Profil Digital UMKM Soramen untuk diunggah ke platform media sosial, seperti Instagram dan (2) Pengarahan/ Sosialisasi pembuatan video profil. Realisasi pembuatan video profil UMKM Soramen adalah 95% dan realisasi kegiatan sharing knowledge dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah 86 %.

Abstract

ChatGPT offers the convenience of translating text from English to Indonesian and vice versa. This feature is highly utilized by students, helping them find meanings and translate sentences. For college students from engineering faculty, this technology can ease them to learn English and help them to do English tasks. This study will examine college students' perceptions of English language learning using Chat GPT. This research applied a qualitative approach to determine students' perceptions of the use of GPT chat media to improve their English language skills. This research used interviews, observations, questionnaires to collect data from respondents. This research concluded that students believe that ChatGPT has positive impact on facilitating information access and assisting students' English coursework
