Abstract

This community service aims to increase students' knowledge and transformational leadership skills so that they can apply transformational leadership when carrying out learning practices in the classroom in the future. Nineteen students participated in the activity, but only 18 completed the evaluation. The science and technology transfer team includes the concepts and dimensions of transformational leadership, integration strategies for transformational leadership using scientific learning models, and how to evaluate students' transformational leadership. The three sciences and technologies were transferred using three methods, namely lectures and discussions, exercises, as well as presentations and reflections. The team evaluated service activities (pre test-post test) using seven open questions developed from the dimensions of transformational leadership developed by Carless et al. (2000). The results showed an average increase in understanding of transformational leadership in the medium category (0.3 <0.7). The highest increase was in the second dimension, namely team development, with a value of 0.70. Meanwhile, the dimension with the lowest increase was charismatic, with a value of 0.30. The other five dimensions are in the value range of 0.47-0.65 or are included in the medium category. In the future, service can be expanded by evaluating students' transformational leadership from the perspective of team/group members in learning activities to provide a more operational evaluation perspective on students' transformational leadership experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the application of a humanistic approach in school leadership, which impacts human resources development in the digitalization era. This research method uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. They collect data through participant observation, interviews, and documentation studies to achieve research objectives. A modified analytic analysis method was used to analyze the data. The level of credibility, dependability, transferability, and confirmability are the basis for data validity. The results of the study explain that personal excellence (integrity, wholeness, and self-authenticity) and the humanistic spirituality of inspirational figures inspire the humanistic approach of school principals. The results of this research empirically provide new hope for teachers, staff, students, and parents of students at the elementary level by applying a humanistic approach to school principals in the digital era. This finding has implications, where through a humanistic approach, school principals are more open to appreciating participation and view teachers, employees, and parents as human beings who have equality in building cooperation. Thus, through the humanistic approach of the school principal, the school environment becomes a place for empowering learning and the formation of human values that need to be upheld.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this research is the variation in students' levels of learning commitment and how these differences impact their learning outcomes in a micro-teaching course. The samples were nine fifth-semester students (1 male and 8 females) from a Micro-teaching class, the English Language Education Study Program determined using purposive sampling with varying learning outcomes. Learning outcome data was taken from the final grades of the micro-teaching course. The learning commitment indicators consist of seven indicators arranged in 14 questions for each interview: interest in alternatives, acquiescence, cooperation, enhancement, identity, advocacy, and ownership. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. One student exhibited interest in alternatives commitment (score: 50.2), one student demonstrated acquiescence commitment (score: 61.1), three students showed advocacy commitment (scores: 75.5, 83.75, 89.75), and four students displayed ownership commitment (scores: 89.75, 90.6, 92.95, 95). No students were identified with cooperation, enhancement, or identity commitment strata. These results suggest a clear difference between students' learning commitment levels and learning outcomes in the microteaching course. The study concludes that students' learning commitment strata significantly impact learning outcomes, highlighting the importance of fostering strong learning commitment among students. The study recommends that educators implement strategies to strengthen students' learning commitment by encouraging higher levels of engagement and responsibility.

Abstract

Enhancing University Students’ Extensive Reading Outcomes: Integrating Motivation, Technology, and Collaborative Active Learning. Objective: This study aimed to enhance students’ outcomes in the Extensive Reading course by integrating motivation, technology, and Collaborative Active Learning (CAL) into the learning process. It was conducted in response to low student achievement and to address the research gap, since few studies have comprehensively explored the combined role of motivation, technology, and CAL in improving extensive reading performance. Methods: The study involved 49 third-semester English Education students in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, using a mixed-method approach. A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design, along with semi-structured interviews, was employed. The experimental group (n = 25) received the intervention, while the control group (n = 24) followed traditional methods. The intervention lasted for 14 weeks, beginning with a pre-test in week 1, followed by the intervention from weeks 2 to 15, and a post-test in week 16. Interviews were conducted with six purposively selected students (three high-achieving and three low-achieving) to support the quantitative findings. A paired samples t-test was used to analyze the data. Findings: The results showed that the integration of motivation, technology, and collaborative active learning significantly improved students' learning outcomes for the Extensive Reading course in the experimental group (pre-test mean: 41.32; post-test mean: 66.64; p <0.001), while the control group showed no change. Interview data revealed that technology and collaboration enhanced motivation and engagement among students in the experimental group, whereas the control group reported low motivation and limited support. Conclusion: Policymakers should support digital literacy initiatives, teachers should implement collaborative and technology-based reading activities, and universities should integrate these approaches into their curriculum design to enhance the success of extensive reading. Keywords: integration, motivation, technology, collaborative active learning, extensive reading, higher education.
