Abstract

Biomass energy sources have several advantages, such as being used as a renewable energy source so that the energy source from biomass can provide a sustainable energy source. One of the first steps to determine the potential of energy resources that can be developed into renewable energy sources is by collecting data. The data collection carried out in this study focuses more on the biomass found in Balikpapan. The biomass potential in Balikpapan needs to be known by collecting and classifying the biomass data based on products from agriculture and plantations. The data that has been collected from secondary data and from surveys are then mapped to see the greatest biomass potential found in Balikpapan. The largest percentage of crop yields per year is found in North Balikpapan Subdistrict, which is 31% compared to five other sub-districts. The potential of biomass from Balikpapan City's natural resources, which the greatest amount of harvest, is the cassava food plant in North Balikpapan sub-district of 7,259 tons / year. In the type of fruit, snakefruit (salak) has the highest number of yields per year, which is about32,945 tons / year. The potential for waste from food plants, cassava waste originating from tree trunks, is 5,807.2 tons / year, and cassava skin is 1,088.8 tons / year

Abstract

The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) already has 17 study programs and 3002 active students until 2021 and is projected to have 20 study programs by 2025. However, geographical location of ITK affect ITK facilities readiness that later supporting tridharma activities to be carried out perfectly. The Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing System (MEP) at the ITK Campus needs to be designed with a sustainable design in order to accommodate the needs of electricity, sound, air conditioning, clean water, and dirty water on the ITK Campus until 2025. This study aims to design a sustainable MEP design for distribution of electricity especially in lightning protection in order to meet the characteristics of safe, reliable and appropriate design. The stages involved include 8 (eight) processes, namely: 1) data collection and design of the existing MEP, 2) projecting the growth of the academic community and equipment needs until 2025, 3) reviewing the existing MEP system as the existing protection system, 4) calculation of the suitability of the existing MEP system based on projected needs, SNI and SPLN, 5) planning for improvement of existing systems and plans for developing MEP systems, 6) making working drawings of the MEP system, 7) drafting Bill of Quantity MEP, and 8) MEP budgeting. This research is expected to produce output in the form of MEP planning drawings that are recommendation of detailed engineering design which are documented in strategic policies through the rector's regulation. This research is aimed to be used as a reference for MEP design for ITK development in the future development.

Abstract

Abstract

Fault in the power system can pose a hazard not only to the equipment but also to the people working near it. Disturbances that can arise range from a short circuit that causes a spark, to a short circuit that can cause an arc flash. The arc hazard level can be estimated to determine the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that must be used by humans when working in electrified areas. In addition to the PPE level, arc current values can also be used to determine the safe distance between equipment and people. This research collects data on a distribution system of 65 buses which are the main distributors near the load, so their reliability must be high. System protection uses over current relay (OCR) and ground fault relay (GFR) to protect the system from 3-phase and 1-phase short circuit fault. The simulation results show that OCR and GFR can protect the system from short circuit disturbances that are close to the relay location. The higher the proximity to the source, the higher the PPE level and the safe distance between humans and electrical equipment.
