Abstract

Man is never separated from the desires in the fulfillment of his life. The development of life also affects the form of human desire. The influence of materialism is sometimes human hedonism which is sometimes incompatible with Hindu ethics. But Epicurean Hedonism has a different view to hedonism in general. This paper aims to describe Epikuros's thoughts related to Hedonism. The pleasure-oriented attitude of hedonism is different from Epikuros hedonism that not only seeks material pleasure but also seeks spiritual pleasure. Spiritual pleasure can make man calm and wise, such situations are commonly called anarakxia. The hedonism taught by Epikuros aligns with the teachings on Hindu ethics that not only pursue earthly pleasures but are led to try to control themselves from earthly pleasures in order to achieve the happiness of life.  The benefits of this paper can contribute to the understanding of the intersection between Epicurean thought and Hindu ethical views.

Abstract

Belakangan ini sedang ramai perdebatan dan diskusi terbuka di media sosial terkait dengan permasalahan pembenturan keyakinan antara Hindu Bali dan Hare Khrisna (HK).Salah satu literasi yang patut dijadikan rujukan penting adalah karya yang dilakukan oleh  Prof. Dr. Litt. Dr. I Gusti Putu Phalgunadi, M.A. Sekilas Sejarah Evolusi Agama Hindu (Cet II, 2010). Penggunaan teori filsafat sejarah mengkaji sejarah dengan menggunakan pendekatan filsafat, khususnya sejarah evolusi Hindu, dengan menggunakan metode simak dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan metode dan teknik analisis data yang meliputi (1) Reduksi Data, (2) Penyajian data, dan (3) Verifikasi. Diakhiri metode informal. Sekilas Sejarah Evolusi Agama Hindu” Prof Phalgunadi menguraikan evolusi Hindu dari 1) Peradaban Lembah Sungai Sindhu (3.000 S.M-2000 S.M), 2) Zaman Weda (2000 SM-1000 SM), 3) Zaman Brahmana (1.000 SM-300 M), 4) Zaman Purana: Zaman Keemasan Agama dan Kebudayaan Hindu (300 M- 700 M), 5) Zaman Reformasi Hindu (Zaman Sangkaracharya 700 M-1.200 M), 6) Zaman Gerakan Bhakti (1.200 M-1.800 M) dan 7) Gerakan Hindu Modern (1.800 M-1947 M). Perdebatan yang terjadi kini antara Hindu Bali dan Hare Khrisna jelas memiliki frame yang berbeda sebagaimana evolusi dalam ajaran Hindu itu sendiri, terlebih lagi perdebatan ini terjadi di wilayah Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia sehingga harus memperhatikan konstitusi yang belaku “dharmaning agama dharmaning nagara”.

Abstract

Lontar Taru Pramana is a lontar containing many types of plants that can be used in traditional medicine. Through the contents of Taru Pramana's lontar text, it is possible to trace the types of plants that have lived and are still growing in Bali's natural ecosystem, of course, with an environmental sociology perspective. The relationship between environmental sociology and Taru Pramana's lontar text semiotics explains the meaning of the relationship between humans and the environment. Three conceptions view nature in environmental sociology, namely: 1) Sustainable use of natural resources; 2) "arcadian" approach to the interpretation of nature; 3) natural social construction approach. This conception of nature as a resource has three main characteristics. First, nature is instrumental, which means that nature has value when other values can be manifested through it. Both realms function as a supplier of human material needs, such as food production, health, the availability of space for life, and a supplier of energy and materials. The three definitions of nature are generally closely related to natural science. The preservation of Taru Pramana plants is very important in addition to environmental harmony and as a form of human relations with palemahan (environment). Four types of rationality for human development. First, traditional rationality. The Second, effective rationality. Third, value-oriented rationality. Fourth, instrumental rationality. The ideology of Taru Pramana's text is the preservation and planting of medicinal plants in the ecosystem of traditional Balinese medicine.

Abstract

Family problems become very crucial at this time due to the absence of family planning. Various reactions are shown by parents when the child is experiencing an illness. Not a few maidset parents who think that when a child is sick must be immediately taken to the doctor to get treatment and treatment through drugs. The disease diagnosis system accompanied by traditional treatments in Bali is known as Usada. One of them is usada rare papyrus is a papyrus that discusses the symptoms of disease in children and how to treat it in children. Lontar usada rare text describes the symptoms of illness experienced by a child, including upas disease, tiwang disease, sebaha disease, spells, scales, and other groups of diseases. Recognizing and understanding the symptoms of the disease based on the Usada Rare Lontar provides an early understanding of the symptoms of the disease in children through traditional Balinese diagnosis in a papyrus record.

Abstract

Bhagawan Domya’s story is one episode in the Adiparwa text, which tells about the obedience of the three students to a teacher. In this story a teacher tests the devotions and devotion of his students, namely is Arunika, Utamanyu, and Veda. The story is discussed with the discourse theory from Michel Foucault. The data is taken from the Adiparwa book by Zoetmulder, to be precise abaout Bhagawan Dhomya’s story. Data analusis is the process of examining all research data obtained through observation, recording, documents, and so on. The results of this study will be presented using an informal method because the data studied is qualitative data in the from of verval narrative. Foucault’s discourse in the Adiparwa text on Bhagawant Dhomya went testing his three students using the discourse of guru bhakti, then Bhagawan Dhomya can exercise his power over his three students by carrying out “pinariksa” test as a from of his hegemony, as well as the basis for giving his gift of knowledge to his three students.

Abstract

Kakawin adalah salah satu karya sastra Jawa Kuno yang mengandung nilai-nilai kehidupan sangat tinggi. Istilah kakawin berasal dari bahasa Sanskerta yaitu kawi dan dalam sastra Sanskerta klasik kawi berarti “penyair”. Kakawin Nītiśāstra berasal dari kata Nìti dan śāstra. Nìti berarti undang-undang yang mengatur negeri sedangkan śāstra berarti pelajaran agama atau pelajaran dharma. Kakawin Nītiśāstra  dikarang oleh seorang pengarang yang tidak dikenali namanya. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori semiotika model Riffaterre. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan metode simak yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik dasar catat. dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan metode dan teknik analisis data yang meliputi (1) Reduksi Data, (2) Penyajian data, dan (3) Verifikasi. Diakhiri dengan metode penyajian hasil analisis data menggunakan metode informal. Kakawin Nītiśāstra hanya berisikan dan memuat anuprasa serta sabdālaṃkara yaitu puspayamaka dan wrêtantayamaka, namun didalam Kakawin Nītiśāstra tidak ditemukannya sabdālaṃkara yang lain seperti kanciyamaka, padādyantayamaka, padantayamaka. Kepemimpinan dalam teks Hindu seperti kakawin Nītiśāstra senantiasa berorientasi kepada tujuan hidup sekala dan niskala, jagatditha dan moksa yaitu, terpeliharanya keseimbangan hidup lahir dan batin.

Abstract

AbstractIndian culture has a lot of influence on the religious and social activities of the Hindu community in the archipelago. One of them is the use of animals in the religious social activities of the Hindu community in the archipelago. The similarity of the concept of Vedic teachings and their implementation in the Land of the Archipelago encouraged the ancestors to fight for Hinduism to be recognized in Indonesia. Recognition of Hinduism begins with Hindu intellectual ideas on the island of Bali with full of twists and turns, the ups and downs of the struggles of the ancestors until Hinduism is recognized as a religion in Indonesia. The syncretism of Vedic teachings and ancestral teachings has occurred for centuries, both from the 5 theories of the entry of Hinduism to Indonesia, from the process of the Indians traveling to the archipelago known as the Bali Yatra, and from the mangjawaken byasa mata process carried out by the king of Kediri, namely Dharma Wangsa. Teguh in the IX century AD. The recognition of Hinduism in Indonesia encouraged Hindu intellectuals at that time to immediately formulate Hindu religious concepts for the life of the nation and state, such as the name of the highest entity, the concept of carrying out daily prayers, holy days, organizations, and so on. etc. This indicates the importance of understanding the Hindu red coat in Indonesia.

Abstract

The functions of coconuts are many. Besides for consumption purposes, coconut is also widely used as a means of ceremonies in Bali. Its use has increased in recent years so its availability also needs to be improved. Especially for upakara coconut is becoming increasingly rare nowadays because growing it is not easy. For example, a giant coconut, in addition to producing little fruit, also needs special care and a special place to grow it—likewise several other types of coconut. Thus, the Postgraduate Doctoral Program at UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar took the initiative to carry out study-based service in the form of orientation and planting coconut species for ceremonies in Santi hamlet, Selat village, Selat sub-district, Karangasem. Descriptively this work tries to narrate the service activities along with several types of upakara coconut plants planted there. The community in Santi hamlet itself is very enthusiastic about planting these plants and directly getting the benefits.
