Abstract

Traditional Hindu environmental values and concerns have continued to influence the discourse and aligned practices of environmentalism in much of South Asia. Hinduism developed a strong moral ethos which to a large extent superseded the earlier (Vedic) view from the heavens (or of the gods) by a view as if, "from nowhere", that is, from no one particular subjective position (whether divine or human). Here the moral concept of dharma emerges as a much more abstract, authoritative and autonomous notion, but with the same normative strength that the ontological and cosmological conceptions had earlier served. The universe is seen as a most meaningful and principled moral order: human beings have a responsibility, indeed a duty, to help sustain this world thus rendered morally significant. Key words: Mother Earth, Nature, Sacred

Abstract

The formation of character is a discourse that continues propagated by the government of Indonesia today. This is done because the condition of the nation's degraded in many areas of life. Various types of crimes such as rape, violence, theft, fights between students, corruption, and others allegedly happened as a result of the moral degradation of the Nation. Character education is the only hope which is able to restore the values of goodness and glory of the nation. So therefore, children as the future generation should be provided with character education from the beginning.Format of character education which is given to children, therefore, must be clear and precise objectives. Ancient Hindu educational system places great emphasis on character formation in the curriculum, so that when they are finished, besides exellence in science also grew into a wise person. Gurukula system applied that has lasted for thousands of years and is considered capable of being the foundation of both the State and society to educate and transform knowledge to the younger generation as well as capable of being a great place to shape their character.

Abstract

The text of Paururava Manasija Sutra in this work is sourced from the Dhundiraja Sastrı edition published by Kamakunjalata (Varanasi: Chowkhamba Sanskrit Series Office, 1967), p. 1-27 and commented on by Jayakrsna Diksita. This text is very short, composed of 53 sutras covering techniques of sexual intercourse, timing, enjoyment, age of women invited to intercourse, and techniques for maintaining resilience. The terms used in expressing the techniques, sensations, and patterns contained within them use the spiritual terms commonly used in Yoga and Tantra, for example, the achievement of layered-level pleasures, such as jana loka, tapa loka, satya loka and others. Descriptively this work tries to elaborate in detail the technique of copulation comprehensively by using other kama texts forenrichment, such as Kamasutra, Ananga Rangga and other texts. The Paururava text lays out a good and proper copulation technique that will bring maximum sexual pleasure. Determining the type of opponent in sex is also strongly encouraged by this text so that the results achieved can reach the top.

Abstract

This article describes the role of Vâda-Vidyâ for students at universities to improve the quality of education, which is still considered to be very low in Indonesia. Vâda-Vidyâ is the science of discussion contained in the Nyaya Sutra for the sake of seeking the right knowledge. Vâda-Vidyâ displays various theories that metaphysical-ontologically provide an overview of the sixteen categories (padartha), namely the things that must be mastered in order to achieve liberation through a true knowledge. Efforts to reach the right knowledge in epistemic described through four pramana, namely pratyaksha, anumana, upamana and sabdha. From the fourth pramana, pratyaksha is the most important, where three others depend. With a qualitative descriptive method, this article attempts to enter all the problems faced by Indonesian students by Kemendikbud through analysis of epistemology of Vâda-Vidyâ. In principle, if Vâda-Vidyâ can be correctly understood and actualized into learning activities, the quality of education in Indonesia will be improved.

Abstract

Sex is an inseparable part of human life. Even so, sex has not been fully understood because more people view sex as something sacred and secret so that sex is only interpreted as a taboo or prohibition to be taught. That is the way of the past view of sex, but lately many parties view sex education is important. Because it is very warmly discussed later. During this time sexuality is often understood as something taboo to talk about especially if it is associated with religion. Of course there are many who refuse to discuss porn in a religious context. Hinduism provides a different view of sexuality. In Hinduism sexuality is seen as a sacred thing in human life because it is implicitly contained in the purusārtha chess teachings, namely dharma, artha, kama, and moksa. One of the goals of human life is the fulfillment of lust or desire (kama) which encourages people to do something that makes people excited in this life. Sex which is equated with kama in Sanskrit and Old Javanese has a place in human life. It cannot be eliminated just behind the current time, because it continues to flow as an instrument of strength to obtain the highest virtue. "People without kama will never want artha and people without kama will never want dharma either. Enjoying spirituality in sexuality activities for Hindus especially Hindus in Bali and Indonesia can be found in the Rahasya Sanggama lontar text. The Balinese have had the Rahasya Sanggama ejection as a sacred guideline in sexual activity, if the guideline is implemented properly, then there should be very few sexual cases in the Balinese environment.

Abstract

Kepongor for the Hindu community in Bali is a belief (belief) based on a tradition and ancestral culture. Where the kepongor culture is a form of teaching about human behavior (deeds), ethics and morality which is applied from generation to generation through a curse, it is possible that all descendants are always aware of (remember) the ancestors. Religion is taught and socialized to humans based on the text of the Veda scriptures, lontar, and Bisama (warning) from generation to generation. This has served to provide a belief about how diversity and culture are carried out by humans based on the Five Sradha and Tri Hindu religious frameworks, tattwa, morals and events. On the basis of sradha and bahakti, things that are beyond human reason and logic that are abstract in nature which cause sorrow, pain, etc. can be avoided. Through the description above, the problems discussed in this study include: 1) the form of kepongor experienced by Balinese, 2) Balinese people can learn and overcome kepongor, 3) the implementation of karmaphala teachings on the incidence of kepongor

Abstract

The understanding of Īśvara which is still ambiguous among Hindus makes researchersfeel the need to conduct research on these religion issues. The urgency in this research is toexamine in depth the conception of Īśvara so that it can contribute to Hindus as a whole inunderstanding the concept of Īśvara. This research is a qualitative research with an interpretivedescriptive approach that refers to the Hermeneutic theory. This theory is used because most ofthe discussion in this research seeks to interpret the arguments in the sacred literature to supportthe findings in this research. There are two major discussions in this research, namely related totheconceptof ĪśvaraasabsoluterealityandtheconceptofĪśvaraasthepersonalityofBrahman. The conception of Īśvara in the Brahman perspective as absolute reality means that Īśvara is thesupreme entity itself which does not have any attributes and is not affected by guna or maya. Sothat the quality is in the transcendent esoteric dimension. In contrast to Īśvara as an absolutereality, intheperspectiveofĪśvaraasthepersonalityofBrahmanitisexplainedthatĪśvaraispartof Brahman which is equipped with attributes, tasks, functions, and attributes. So that its levelcannot be equated with Brahman as an absolute reality. This is due to the influence of use andmaya. So itsposition isintheexotericdimensionwhich isimmanent.

Abstract

Guru is a central position in the spiritual world. Spiritual learning without teacher guidance will have no impact. In the Upanishads, the teacher is the key to the success of a student. Those who learn from a teacher, spiritual development can be known stages. One of the texts that discusses the importance of the teacher's presence in the spiritual tradition is the Taittiriya Upanisad. This work descriptively describes how devotion to the teacher is good and right so that it has a direct impact on spiritual success. The teacher is a god who has the form of an id on the face of the earth. From the teacher spiritual lessons can be transferred and transformed into students. Gurus are those who understand the teachings of the Vedas (srotriya) and who have experienced self-realization/merge with Brahman (brahmanistha). The teacher becomes a guide because he has directly experienced the highest consciousness. Likewise, the teacher is able to teach it in accordance with the development of students' awareness. On that basis the teacher deserves respect, and with the respect given, the spiritual process can run optimally.

Abstract

The existence of upakara plants in Bali is increasingly rare. This happens because of the increasingly massive implementation of the ceremony and the community is less concerned about its preservation. On that basis, it is very urgent to plant upakara plants in Bali because in addition to supplying the need for ceremony materials, it is also a form of environmental preservation or conservation of rare plants. This work describes how the scarcity of these plants is along with the efforts to be made to overcome them. One effort that can be done is by replanting and then inspiring everyone to realize that planting upakara plants both in the yard and in the form of a gumi banten garden is very important. Bali will look beautiful if this upakara plant is planted in every yard because it also acts as an ornamental plant. I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa's Doctoral Program at UHN, through community service, seeks to inspire the youth at the Gandhi Puri Ashram about the importance of this upakara plant and directly plant upakara plants at the Ashram location. Through this program, it is hoped that the land in the Gandhi Puri Ashram will be overgrown with various types of upakara plants and the awareness of the residents to actively plant upakara plants and inspire others to actively contribute to preserving the rarer upakara plants.
