Abstract

The functions of coconuts are many. Besides for consumption purposes, coconut is also widely used as a means of ceremonies in Bali. Its use has increased in recent years so its availability also needs to be improved. Especially for upakara coconut is becoming increasingly rare nowadays because growing it is not easy. For example, a giant coconut, in addition to producing little fruit, also needs special care and a special place to grow it—likewise several other types of coconut. Thus, the Postgraduate Doctoral Program at UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar took the initiative to carry out study-based service in the form of orientation and planting coconut species for ceremonies in Santi hamlet, Selat village, Selat sub-district, Karangasem. Descriptively this work tries to narrate the service activities along with several types of upakara coconut plants planted there. The community in Santi hamlet itself is very enthusiastic about planting these plants and directly getting the benefits.

Abstract

The phenomenon of buying tirthas at cremation ceremonies in the Tabanan Regency area is deemed necessary to carry out research, considering that among the community there are pros and cons and even complaints because it is seen as something burdensome. Through this research, it is hoped that we will find the reasons that cause the phenomenon of buying tirtha at the cremation ceremony. The approach used in this research is a phenomenological approach. The data collected comes from primary data and secondary data. Data was collected using techniques: observation, interviews, and document study. Next, it is analyzed using qualitative descriptive and interpretative methods, then the final stage is presenting the research results. The research results show that the reasons for the phenomenon of "buying tirtha" at the cremation ceremony are: (1) the material aspects of making Tirtha Pangentas are difficult to obtain, (2) the authority and legality of the process of making Tirtha Pangentas only rests with Sulinggih/Siwa, (3). Tirtha Pangentas contains meaning as a means of freeing the spirit from worldly attachments and a guide to the spirit's journey to heaven according to its karma, (4) for practical and economic reasons, and (5) because of differences in perception in interpersonal communication.

Abstract

Hindu religious education can be done through formal and non-formal education. One of the non-formal educations is at the pasraman, where Acarya plays an important role in improving the character of students. The role of the Acarya is to shape the behavior of students who were previously not good to be good, and those who were previously good to be even better. The issues that will be discussed include 1) How is the learning process by Acarya in improving the character of students at the Widya Marga Pasraman?; 2) How is the Hindu Religion learning method in improving the character of students at the Widya Marga Pasraman?; and 3) What are the obstacles faced and efforts made to overcome obstacles to learning Hinduism in improving the character of students at the Widya Marga Pasraman? This study aims to determine the learning process carried out by Acarya in improving the character of students at the Widya Marga Pasraman, Hindu Religion learning methods in improving the character of students at the Widya Marga Pasraman, and the obstacles faced and efforts made to overcome the obstacles to learning Hindu Religion in improving character students at the Widya Marga Pasraman. The characters in question are religious character, tolerance, social care, environmental care, responsibility, and honesty. The theory used to analyze the problem is social learning theory from Albert Bandura and behavioristic theory from Skinner. The data collection methods are non-participant observation, unstructured interviews, literature studies, and document studies. The data that has been collected was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive analysis method with reduction steps, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that Acarya's role in improving student character has gone well where Acarya is a source of knowledge, role model, and motivation. Acarya uses several methods in the learning process, namely the Sad Dharma method. Obstacles faced in improving student character include external and internal factors which are anticipated by innovating to make media independently and applying a personal approach (Upanisad). Keywords: Pasraman, Acarya, Character, Sad Dharma.

Abstract

Libraries as the heart of higher education play a vital role in supporting the Tri Dharma, particularly in academic and research development. The advancement of information technology demands innovation in library services, one of which is the adoption of Web-Based Library Management Systems (WLMS). This study, entitled Evaluation of the Use of Web-Based Library Management System at I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University, Denpasar, aims to evaluate the effectiveness, challenges, and strategic significance of WLMS implementation using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework. A sequential explanatory design was applied, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 39 respondents consisting of librarians, lecturers, and students. Quantitative findings indicate very good results in perceived usefulness (PU), attitude toward use (ATU), behavioral intention (BI), and actual use (AU), while perceived ease of use (PEOU) scored in the “good” category. TOE-based analysis reveals supporting factors such as infrastructure availability, leadership commitment, and system accessibility, while inhibiting factors include unstable internet, data security concerns, insufficient training, and low digital literacy among users. These results demonstrate that although WLMS significantly improves accessibility, efficiency, and digital literacy, its sustainability requires continuous system optimization, technical support, and human resource development. This research concludes that WLMS adoption at I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University is largely successful but still needs strategic interventions to ensure long-term effectiveness and integration with the university’s mission of advancing Hindu knowledge and culture in the digital era.
