Abstract

This study examines the integration of Sundanese culture and hadith teachings in the Wawacan Panganten Tujuh manuscript, an Islamic heritage of the archipelago with historical and spiritual significance. The research addresses the lack of academic studies exploring the cultural and religious dimensions of this manuscript. It aims to uncover the Islamic values within Wawacan Panganten Tujuh, particularly those referencing hadith, and to analyze the harmonization between local traditions and Islamic teachings. This study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing content analysis techniques and intertextuality theory, supported by philology, hadith takhrij, and Stuart Hall's theory of acceptance. The findings reveal that Wawacan Panganten Tujuh reflects the acculturation process between Sundanese culture and Islamic teachings through narrative elements, cultural symbolism, and marriage rituals such as huap lingkung and walimatul ursy, which align with the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). These elements are adapted in a local context to reinforce the moral and spiritual message of marriage. In conclusion, this manuscript serves not only as a medium for preserving traditions but also as a relevant da'wah tool to address the challenges of modernization. With its profound Islamic values and contextual relevance, Wawacan Panganten Tujuh underscores the importance of maintaining harmony between local culture and Islamic sharia in building a unique Islamic identity in the archipelago.

Abstract

Islamic scholarship is built by various communities. As a religion that carries the spirit of liberation, Islam provides opportunities for anyone to self-actualize. Mawālī was an element of the early Muslim community that contributed positively to hadith scholarship. During the Umayyah Dynasty, the mawālī became a second-class community, but it had a positive impact on the mawālī to take another path to be considered the main community. This research uses a qualitative method with an analytical-descriptive approach. The author used a biographical dictionary of hadith narrators to find the research data. For the data found to be informative, the author uses a historical perspective to find out the traces of his scholarship. In addition, the author confirms the hadith books. Based on the elaboration, it can be concluded that the mawālī, with its various types, contributed greatly to Islamic scholarship, especially in the field of hadith studies, from the time of the Companions to the later generations.

Abstract

Tolerance is fundamental in Islam, encompassing compassion towards others, regardless of their background. Based on the Qur'an and Hadith, tolerance is an essential value in Islam that is crucial for maintaining national integrity and creating stability to achieve a united and prosperous society. This study aims to assess the quality of the Hadith narrated by Al-Bayhaqi regarding tolerance in the maintenance of places of worship and to understand the views of Hadith scholars on tolerance in this context. This study employed a qualitative approach using qualitative data-collection techniques. Content analysis and the Syarah method were used for analysis. Imam al-Baihaqi's book “Dala'il an-Nubuwwah” presents evidence of the truth and prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The findings show that the Hadith under study is classified as “Hasan Lighairihi” because it is a mursal Hadith strengthened by other Hadiths. Scholars have varying views on tolerance in the maintenance of non-Muslim places of worship, with some hadiths regulating protection and prohibiting actions that could threaten them. In a contemporary context, Indonesia's multireligious society reflects religious diversity, with laws protecting religious freedom stipulated in Article 29 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia

Abstract

This article discusses and analyzes hadiths that address the creation of women. It is stated that women were created from a "crooked" rib. The term crooked carries a negative connotation, such as being deceitful or dishonest, implying that women must always be guided and advised by their husbands or fathers. Can it be accepted that women are seemingly born with inherent negative traits simply because they were created from a crooked rib? Yet, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stated that every child is born in a state of purity (fitrah). In this study, the author employs a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on literature review. The findings indicate that both men and women are born in a state of fitrah or purity, and that the rib is a crucial, functional, and perfect part of the human body, created by the Most Perfect. When something is likened to something perfect, it, too, should be seen as perfect as a creation. Not everything that is crooked is necessarily bad or has a negative connotation; the rib itself is originally created with a natural curve or bend. This very shape allows the rib to support and enhance life.

Abstract

Depression is one of the mental disorders with a high global prevalence, while pharmacological approaches often fail to address the psychological and spiritual aspects that are at the root of the problem. In Islamic tradition, hadiths contain emotional concepts such as huzn, ghamm, and ya's, which have the potential to form the basis for the development of psycho-spiritual interventions. This study aims to analyze the meanings of these three terms in the hadith of the Prophet and construct a model of Islamic psychological intervention relevant to the treatment of depression. This study employs a thematic-hadith (al-maudhu‘i) qualitative approach, utilizing lafziyah search, takhrij, sanad-matan assessment, and thematic analysis in conjunction with Islamic psychology theory. Of the 30 hadiths that were successfully collected, 5 hadiths passed the criteria of authenticity and relevance. The analysis shows that the hadiths offer three therapeutic interventions: prayer as spiritual-cognitive regulation, talbinah as a biological intervention that affects mood stability, and al-hisā' as aroma-based sensory regulation. All three are consistent with Malik Badri's model of Islamic psychotherapy and Najati's psycho-physiological theory. Hadiths with the themes of huzn, ghamm, and ya's not only describe emotional conditions but also provide a framework for psycho-spiritual interventions that are compatible with modern psychotherapy. This study opens up opportunities for clinical trials of the resulting intervention model.Keyword: Depression; Hadith; Islamic Mental Health; Psycho-Spiritual Integration; Spiritual Intervention.
