Abstract

The low ability for students to think creatively mathematically is behind the research so that a learning model is needed in overcoming it. The goal of the study is to find out the Problem Based Learning model with the help of audio-visual media that is applied whether it affects the ability to think creatively mathematically in students. Research with the use of experimental quantitative methods. The study population was grade VIII students in MTs. Purposive sampling was used for sampling. The sample from the study there were 49 students of grade VIII, 2 classes were obtained, consisting of experimental classes, applied PBL models with the help of audio-visual media, while in the control class, PBL models were not applied with the help of audio-visual models. Data analysis was processed using the t-test with normality test and homogeneity tests. The results of data testing state normally distributed data with homogeneous variance. The result of the t-test states  rejected. In the words, the experimental class’s average grade differs from the control class’s. The outcomes of the study stated that the use of PBL with audio-visual media can have an impact on student’s capacity to think creatively mathematically.

Abstract

Abstract The objective of this research is to develop interactive pedagogical resources on the Heyzin platform, employing Canva to enhance the Mathematical literacy competencies of students in the fourth grade. The Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model was used in this study to formulate interactive educational materials. This research integrated both qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were acquired through interviews conducted with subject matter experts and media specialists. Conversely, quantitative data were derived from the analysis of pretest and posttest scores that evaluate mathematical literacy proficiency, in addition to student satisfaction surveys. The pretest and posttest results obtained an N-Gain with a moderate category. The results of the effectiveness test stated that there was an increase in Mathematical literacy through the use of interactive teaching materials developed through Heyzin. The results of the average increase indicate an increase that is classified as a moderate category. This study concludes that developing interactive teaching materials based on Canva through Heyzin can be an alternative learning method that is effective in improving students' Mathematical literacy.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of the constructivist approach in enhancing students' mathematical abilities through meta-analysis. Data were gathered from 20 journal publications implementing constructivist teaching strategies in mathematics instruction for Indonesian primary and high school students. Cohen's criteria were applied to assess effect sizes on students' mathematical abilities. The findings indicated that 15 studies (75%) demonstrated small effect sizes (0.0–0.20), suggesting a limited influence on students' mathematical skills. However, all studies showed higher average scores between pretests and posttests, highlighting the potential benefits of the approach. The remaining five studies (25%) reported moderate effect sizes (0.51–1.00), indicating a more substantial positive impact of constructivist methods on students' mathematical aptitude.

Abstract

Mathematical creative thinking is an important skill for students to face global challenges and advances in science and technology. However, previous research shows that this skill is still low among Indonesian students. Accurate measurement can be ensured by valid and reliable instruments. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and reliability of the mathematical creative thinking ability test instrument using the Rasch Model and SPSS. The research method is quantitative with a survey approach, involving 106 participants from various demographic backgrounds. The results of the validity test using the Rasch model showed that the eight items on the mathematical creative thinking ability test instrument met the criteria with the ideal value range for Outfit MNSQ, Outfit ZSTD, and PTMEA-CORR. In addition, the validity test results using SPSS show that the eight items have a correlation coefficient value that exceeds the r product moment value. The results of the analysis showed that the instruments tested were valid and reliable with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.73 using the Rasch Model and SPSS. However, the Rasch Model showed 24 persons that did not fit, which means that the Rasch model's ability to provide more specific results. Both methods can be used effectively to measure the validity and reliability of mathematical creative thinking test instruments and the Rasch Model provides more detailed information in identifying persons who do not fit

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important skills in the world of education, but students are less enthusiastic when solving math problems which causes students' mathematical creative thinking skills to be low. This study aims to determine the validity of students' mathematical creative thinking skills on quadratic function material with the Rasch Model. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach. The subjects of this study are 106 students consisting of school students, this research is carried out by testing instruments on research subjects. Through the instrument, there are four indicators consisting of eight questions that are tested for validity and bias using the Rasch Model, the results are that all items are declared fit on the validity test, 24 people are declared misfit, with a reliability test score of 0.73 including high criteria and seven items are indicated as biased items.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are one of the skills that students need in the 21st century. This study aimed to describe the mathematical communication skills of high school students based on self-efficacy and gender. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Six subjects from 103 students of class XI-MIPA were determined based on the categories of self-efficacy and gender. The results of this study are (1) students who have high self-efficacy can achieve all indicators of mathematical communication skills, male students are better than female students; (2) students who have moderate self-efficacy can achieve two indicators of mathematical communication skills, female students are better than male students; and (3) students who have low self-efficacy only achieve one indicator of mathematical communication skills, female students are better than male students. It can be concluded that there are differences in the mathematical communication skills of high school students based on the level of self-efficacy. In addition, there are differences in mathematical communication skills between male and female students. Educators can use this research as a reference in choosing the appropriate learning model.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the mathematical problem-solving ability of students in terms of self-regulated learning. The method used in this research is the qualitative descriptive method. There are 4 indicators of problem-solving ability in this research, namely understanding the problem, formulating the problem, solving the problem, and re-examining the answers. The four indicators of problem-solving ability can be met by subjects who have a high self-regulated learning category. Subjects with medium self-regulated learning category were only able to fulfill 3 indicators of problem-solving ability. Meanwhile, subjects with low self-regulated learning were only able to fulfill 2 indicators of problem-solving ability. The results showed that the ability to solve problems with high categories was owned by subjects with high self-regulated learning.

Abstract

Students have the ability to solve difficulties that are perceived as inadequate; efforts are required to continue to enhance them. There is an idea that the main goal of learning mathematics is to produce students who can solve problems competently. Thus, the purpose of this study is to see if there is an effect of employing a problem-based learning paradigm aided by Google Sites on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. A quantitative experiment with a quasi-experimental design was employed as the research method. The sample approach used is non-probability sampling of the purposive sampling variety. The instruments used have been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique uses prerequisite analysis tests, namely normality and homogeneity tests. Initial hypothesis testing was carried out using the Mann-Whitney U Test. The results of the study show that problem-based learning with Google Sites has an impact on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students.
