Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic creates various dynamics of uncertainty that impact morbidity, mortality, and economic damage. The dynamics of these threats are expanding in the globalization era through networks and national security into a multidimensional sphere that tends to be unpredictable (Starvridis, 2015). Social transformation is always marked with certainties. Therefore, scientific regulations are needed to guide various operations, which functions as a principle in adapting to the quick-changing socio-cultural dynamics. This study aims to analyze the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic and strategic thinking steps in the ethnographic framework of social network thinking. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with an ego-centric network approach. The research results show that through the network framework, it is possible to see threats that are relatively different from those that have existed so far (mainstream). Interhuman relationships and interactions between humans and viruses in networked societies will create a connection. A strategic step to deal with the dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic threats is the obligation to use masks. Masks can limit the virus' circulation in social environments, especially during face-to-face interaction and communication, as the mouth and nose are vital channels for the virus to enter and spread inside the human body. Researchers recommend the implementation of strategic handling to precisely detect and handle the spread of the virus as early as possible. This strategy is a preventive effort against further severe threats caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Additional practical handling is required, including the discipline of implementing health protocols, such as wearing masks under the supervision of authorities.

Abstract

Kampung Bahari Nusantara is a village that can serve as a form of unity between the Indonesian Army and the coastal communities to support the Indonesian Navy's task of developing maritime potential. Maritime potential development activities are carried out independently or with support from the government or non-ministerial government institutions, as well as other components of the nation, in order to realize the maritime defense power. These activities strengthen the maritime defense in facing threats, disturbances, obstacles, and challenges, including the development of sea dimension strength, and assists the government in preparing national potential by fostering demographic geography and social conditions. This research on the participation of the Lamongan Coastal Community was carried out using qualitative research methods with direct and indirect sources from various writings. This research utilizes a naturalistic method as it is carried out in a natural setting and is based on the experience research subjects.

Abstract

Indonesia has been chosen to host the G20 summit in Bali in November 2022. Indonesia has prepared many agendas ahead of the execution of this summit. This preparation concerns the technical implementation of multilateral relations, which have undergone significant changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Indonesia needs help hosting the G20 due to the fractured multilateral relations of several G20 member countries caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict in early 2022. As a result, Indonesia must mediate between the disputing parties to resolve this issue by selecting appropriate communication methods. Cultural diplomacy is one approach. Cultural diplomacy is a non-coercive means of achieving a country's foreign policy goals, specifically through exchanging ideas, values, and culture. Therefore, this research aims to assess the potential strength of Indonesian cultural diplomacy in assisting global economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic and encouraging peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Furthermore, this research aims to determine how Indonesia's cultural diplomacy can ensure the continuity of the G20 2022 Indonesia implementation and realization of its agendas. This research aims to solve problems and challenges before and after the G20 2022. This research addresses issues and challenges before and after the G20 2022 meeting. This study employs mixed methods to investigate the relationship or contradiction between qualitative and quantitative variables in research data sources. According to the findings of this study, cultural diplomacy can address the challenges of implementing the G20 2022 and provide projections of possible global conditions after the conference.

Abstract

Maritime border security in archipelagic regions faces increasing challenges from transnational threats, with traditional surveillance approaches proving inadequate. This study examines the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in maritime border security at Sebatik Island, Indonesia, focusing on socio-technical conditions influencing AI adoption in resource-constrained environments. Through a qualitative case study incorporating interviews with 12 stakeholders, observations at 29 border points, and document analysis (2022-2023), the research identifies three critical success factors: infrastructure readiness, operational integration capabilities, and human resource development. Findings reveal the crucial role of local knowledge networks in effective border security operations, necessitating their preservation during technological advancement. The study contributes theoretical insights by extending socio-technical systems theory to maritime border contexts and practical applications through a framework for AI implementation that aligns with Indonesia's Vision 2045 and ASEAN's Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025.

Abstract

After the fall of ISIS, the repatriation of former ISIS members to their home countries has become an important issue. The international community encourages the repatriation of ex-ISIS families, especially children who have suffered in refugee camps in Syria. Likewise, the Indonesian government is still open to repatriating orphans under the age of 10. This study aims to determine the threat of repatriation of former ISIS FTF children to Indonesia, as well as intelligence strategies in anticipating the threat. This research uses a qualitative approach based on an inductive perspective. The results show that the repatriation of ex-ISIS FTF children may pose a moderate threat. The intelligence strategy to anticipate the threat is the use of tools or methods, including regulations and resource support from various institutions, equipped with the right way to achieve the goal of minimizing or eliminating threats, with a focus on early detection and early warning.

Abstract

The problem of security disturbance actions with the aim of separatism, which has been carried out by the Papuan Separatist Movement Organization (KSTP), has resulted in many casualties, both civilians and TNI and Polri security forces, and threatens security stability in Papua. Intelligence is central in thwarting and eliminating threats to state sovereignty through active and systematic observation of potential threats, facilitating early detection. This research aims to provide an overview of the importance of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) analysis in predicting the actions of security disturbances by KSTP in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountainous Province. The research method employed is the GEOINT methodology, based on the Mellion model, which comprises planning, information collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination phases. The results of the research conducted, namely GEOINT, have an important role in supporting the implementation of intelligence operations in Nduga Regency, because it produces a visual picture of the movement of KSTP through the geocoding process of security disturbance action information for the period May 2022 to June 2023.
