Abstract

The teacher is considered as the most crucial factor in implementing all educational reforms at the very basic level. In order to get the good result in education, it needs competent teachers. This study aims at finding out the way teachers implement their professional competence in the form of knowledge mastery, creativity and use of media in teaching English as a foreign language. This study used qualitative descriptive design. The instruments used were observation and interview. The data of this study was collected through doing observation and interview. The data of this study were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s model of analysis (Flow Model). The result of the study showed that the way teachers implemented their professional competence in the form of knowledge mastery, creativity and use of media were done well. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the teachers implemented their professional competence well in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the students’ and teachers’ perceptions on implementing the computer-based test as the final assessment in SMA Negeri 1 Soe. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The data of this study was collected through spreading questionnaires and interviews. The data of this study were analyzed by using SPSS. The result of the study showed that students perceive there were some benefits of CBT implementation, such as; getting new experiences, training them to operate computers well and work harder, showing their grades directly, and teaching them to be honest. While the teachers perceive that it gave them a new challenge as the demand to be innovative to face the development of science and technology in this digital era, it was an effective way to measure the students’ learning achievement. It was a good way to promote the school level and accreditation, as an effort to improve the quality of teaching and learning, saving money because they did not need to spend it for buying papers, pens. But students and teachers also stated some weaknesses of CBT implementation such as; server error, electricity problems, time (session) delay, and computer errors.

Abstract

Teaching and learning is a good way to reach the educational goals. Since the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) hits the word, the process of teaching and learning totally change that creates new problem for teachers and students. This study aims to find out the students’ perceptions of the implementation of home learning and online learning during the pandemic era (COVID-19) in SMA Negeri 1 Soe. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The data of this study was collected through spreading questionnaires and doing interviews. The data of this study were analyzed by using SPSS. The result of the study showed that students perceive the implementation of home learning and online learning during pandemic era (COVID-19) is a good way because it could protect the students from the spread of the COVID-19, it helped the students to keep learning. It could make the students to be responsible for their learning improvement.

Abstract

Our education world is facing a very different situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic where these last few years, teaching and learning activities must be done online. However, the implementation of English online learning in remote areas did not go well due to the lack of teachers' and students’ ability in using technology in learning English during and post the pandemic. Therefore, the study was conducted to see how the correlation between the teachers’ competence, students' attitude, and the rural environment in affecting the use of technology in the English teaching and learning process during and post-pandemic. In this study, interview and observation were conducted to collect the data. The result of the study showed that there were some correlations between the rural environment, students’ attitudes, and teachers’ competence in facing the technology challenges in learning the English process during and post the pandemic. Teachers and students were difficult to adjust with the use of technology due to limited facilities in a rural area, lack of skill in using the technology, and negative attitudes that decrease students' motivation in learning English during the pandemic. However, improvement was also found in the post-pandemic, where the students and teachers could improve their competence in using technology media in learning English. The result showed that the students showed high motivation when the teacher delivered material and gave assignments using technology. Furthermore, teachers are also able to improve their teaching competence in creating teaching media based on technology use in the post-pandemic.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mentransfer pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada guru-guru terkait pemanfaatan smartphone sebagai mobile laboratory dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi phyphox. Selain itu, kegiatan ini bermanfaat bagi proses pembelajaran pada sekolah-sekolah yang memiliki keterbatasan laboratorium maupun peralatan praktikum. Kegiatan workshop bertempat di SMA Kristen 2 Soe dengan jumlah guru yang terlibat sebanyak 4 orang. Kegiatan ini melatih guru fisika untuk mengembangkan percobaan sains dan fisika sesuai dengan materi yang dipelajari tanpa menggunakan peralatan yang mahal. Disamping itu, kegiatan ini akan memudahkan siswa dalam belajar dan melakukan eksperimen di rumah secara sederhana dan efektif. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu, perancangan dan pelatihan. Metode perancangan digunakan untuk mengembangkan percobaan/ eksperimen sesuai dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran, sedangkan metode pelatihan digunakan untuk melatih guru dalam mengembangkan dan melakukan eksperimen berbasis smartphone. Kegiatan yang telah dilakukan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada mitra untuk mengembangkan percobaan/ eksperimen fisika berbasis smarphone. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam kegiatan ini adalah semua peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan workshop mampu memanfaaatkan smartphone sebagai mobile laboratory untuk melakuikan kegiatan percobaan. Selain itu, peserta pelatihan termotivasi dan berkomitmen untuk mengaplikasikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperoleh dalam pembelajaran di kelas masing-masing.
