Abstract

Scientific inquiry-based science learning multimedia plays a very important role in fostering students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the media that has been made based on input from experts. This study involved 15 experts consisting of material experts, linguists, media experts, and learning design experts as well as educational practitioners. Based on calculations using Aiken's V, it shows that the entire index V > 0.79 (V table Aiken). This proves that all items contained in the questionnaire represent the construct being measured and are said to have adequate content validity. In addition, input from experts was also analyzed qualitatively. Thus, interactive multimedia products are said to be valid for use as science learning media. This media can be a recommendation for teachers to teach science, especially in abstract material and can train students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of the multiliteracy model and its influence on critical thinking skills for fifth-grade elementary school students. This study is an experimental study with a research design used in this study, namely Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The data analysis technique in this study is the T-test. The study results showed that based on the difference test with the independent samples test, it is known that the Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00 is smaller than 0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the average critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class and the group of students in the control class. The results of this study can be a recommendation for elementary school teachers in improving the quality of learning including enhancing their students' critical reasoning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low health literacy of elementary school students in DKI Jakarta, which affects their clean and healthy living behaviors. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children model in enhancing the health literacy of fifth-grade students. The method used is a quasi-experiment involving two experimental classes and two control classes. The research instrument includes a health literacy test on four indicators: access, understanding, assessment, and application. The results of the analysis showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05) with a high N-gain increase (0.65) in the experimental group. The largest increase occurred in the assessment aspect, reflecting that students' health literacy has reached the assessment stage. The implication is that this model is effective in fostering a character-based, healthy lifestyle and can be integrated into basic education to support the achievement of SDGs 3 and 4.

Abstract

Environmental literacy needs to be developed from an early age because early it can foster awareness and responsible behavior towards nature. Based on observation, public concern for the environment is currently a concern for many parties. This is evidenced by the large amount of garbage scattered in the surrounding environment, one of which is in the school environment. This causes learning to become uncomfortable because of polluted air and dirty environmental conditions. This study aims to analyze students' needs for the development of ecopedagogy-based storybook media. The study used a survey with a phenomenological approach to find out the reality in the field related to the condition of the elementary school environment. The respondents of this study were 20 elementary school teachers from three different schools in Setiabudi District, South Jakarta to provide information about the potential for student environmental literacy issues and the use and acceptance of current media in supporting students' environmental concerns. In addition, 100 students were also involved to measure their environmental literacy. Each school has different characteristics according to the facilities and conditions of the school. The findings show that environmental literacy possessed by students tends to be only cognitive in nature where the knowledge score is 75.5, the cognitive skills score is 63.78, the attitude score towards the environment is 60.08, while the behavior score towards the environment is only 54.76. The results prove that the students' knowledge score is higher than the students' attitudes and behavior towards the environment. On the other hand, based on observations and interviews, 80% of students and teachers strongly agree with the development of ecopedagogy-based story books. This media is a solution to stimulate students' environmental literacy. Therefore, ecopedagogy-based story book products need to be developed to improve students' environmental literacy. Keywords: environmental literacy; story books; ecopedagogy; elementary school
