Abstract

The objects of this study are Alice Walker’s The Color Purple and Sapphire’s Push. This study is trying to unveil the interxtuality between the two works of literature above in order to trace back Sapphire’s attempt of celebrating Womanism in Black American women literature through intertextuality. This study focuses on how Alice Walker’s idea of Womanism in The Color Purple influences Sapphire to write a novel with a similar topic of discussion under the umbrella of Womanism. Womanism  is quite essential to the Black American women empowerment. Womanism can be seen as a weapon for the black women to fight back the partriarchal society. Supported by citations and quotations in both novel, this study tries to uncover how similar these novel are when working on the isssue of Womanism undergone by Black American women. Both Sapphire and Walker highlight the value of literacy and/or education for the Black American women as a way out of the repressive and dominating society. They both also concern about Black women supporting other Black women in both of the novels. Living in an unfortunate world where they were placed them at the bottom of social ladder, both of the main characters of the novel need the support from other Black Women in order to survive. The similarity of the theme of the novels and also several mentions of Alice Walker’s work of literature in Push manifested the Sapphire’s celebration of womanism through interxtuality in her novel.

Abstract

This research studied about Ecranisation Study of Novel into Film The Kite Runner.  The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the novel The Kite Runner was reduced, added, and modified for the cinema adaptation. The reduction, addition, and modification in the ecranisation study were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methodology and the theory of Eneste's Ecranisation. The data collections of this research are intrinsic elements contained in both novel The Kite Runner and the film The Kite Runner. The researcher employed note-taking as a tool for data collection in order to find out the reduction, addition, and modification of novel into film. The plot, the characters, the point of view, and some of the events and depictions in this study have all undergone some reduction, and alteration. However, the researcher could not find any addition in the process of the adaptating novel The Kite Runner into Film The Kite Runner.

Abstract

Integrasi teknologi digital dalam pendidikan dasar, khususnya dalam konteks pelestarian lingkungan dan penguatan literasi Bahasa Inggris, masih menghadapi berbagai kendala di tingkat sekolah. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan diskusi di SD Integral Luqman Al Hakim Situbondo, ditemukan sejumlah permasalahan utama, di antaranya ketiadaan sistem inventarisasi keanekaragaman hayati di lingkungan sekolah, keterbatasan media pembelajaran digital yang menarik dan relevan, rendahnya kontekstualisasi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, serta minimnya pemanfaatan teknologi oleh tenaga pendidik. Di samping itu, kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya pelestarian keanekaragaman hayati juga masih tergolong rendah. Program ini bertujuan mengembangkan model pembelajaran berbasis digital yang mengintegrasikan teknologi informasi, edukasi lingkungan, dan peningkatan kompetensi Bahasa Inggris secara kontekstual. Implementasi program melibatkan 20-30 guru, dan 100 siswa, meliputi pendataan 45 spesies tanaman di lingkungan sekolah yang untuk menghasilkan kode QR dan konten audiovisual berbahasa Inggris sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif. Kegiatan mencakup 1 sesi untuk sosialisasi, 5 sesi pelatihan, 1 kali penerapan teknologi dan uji coba, serta 1 kali evaluasi, yang terbukti berkontribusi terhadap penguatan literasi sains, bahasa, dan teknologi, sekaligus mendorong kesadaran ekologis sejak dini. Program ini juga mendukung peningkatan kapasitas guru dalam pemanfaatan teknologi digital untuk pembelajaran tematik.

Abstract

Penerapan teknologi digital dalam pendidikan dasar, khususnya untuk pelestarian lingkungan dan pengembangan literasi bahasa Inggris, masih menghadapi berbagai kendala di sekolah-sekolah Indonesia. Di SD Integral Luqman Al Hakim Situbondo, tantangan utama mencakup minimnya dokumentasi keanekaragaman hayati, terbatasnya pemanfaatan media digital yang interaktif, serta pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang jarang terkait dengan pengalaman nyata siswa. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, program ini mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran digital berbasis konteks yang mengintegrasikan inventarisasi dan dokumentasi keanekaragaman hayati, QR code, serta materi audiovisual berbahasa Inggris. Setiap spesies tanaman di lingkungan sekolah dicatat dan dikaitkan dengan QR code yang menuntun siswa maupun pengunjung ke video edukatif singkat yang diproduksi oleh siswa. Pendekatan ini meningkatkan literasi sains, bahasa, dan digital siswa, sekaligus menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis. Selain itu, guru memperoleh pengalaman dan keterampilan dalam merancang serta melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek berbantuan teknologi. Temuan penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya strategi interdisipliner yang memanfaatkan teknologi untuk menghadirkan pengalaman belajar bermakna sekaligus menanamkan nilai-nilai keberlanjutan pada pendidikan dasar.

Abstract

This research examines the evaluation of attitudes in 5 articles from Jakartapost.com regarding the electoral debate of presidential candidates. As a mass media outlet targeting readers both domestically and internationally, Jakartapost.com is required to maintain neutrality in reporting on presidential debates. Therefore, the research aims to understand the attitudes and political ideology of 2024 Indonesian presidential candidates reported by Jakartapost.com. The news was analyzed using the appraisal system proposed by Martin and White (2005), categorizing attitudes into affect, judgment, and appreciation. This research utilized qualitative methods with embedded case study and Spradley’s analysis to identify cultural patterns and themes within the data. The results showed that attitudes consisted of 39.7% negative and 24.6% positive judgments, 16.4% negative and 8.2% positive appreciations, and 9.6% negative and 1.4% positive affects. The appraisal system can identify political ideologies of the three presidential candidates. Anis Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo express conflicting attitudes towards the current government, indicating their role as opposition and socialist populism, while Prabowo Subianto aligns himself with the current government known as technocratic populism. Journalists tend to assess Prabowo more positively compared to other candidates, suggesting a bias towards supporting him in the 2024 election.
