Abstract

Plant classification material is one of the materials listed in the basic competence of the curriculum applied in Indonesia and is less attractive to students because the characteristics of plants are quite difficult to identify so that the classification is complicated. It is known that most middle-level students really like games which are integrated in learning activities. Therefore, this study aims to develop a media called Plant-Puzzle Games (PPG) which is expected to have a positive effect in the form of increasing the learning motivation of junior high school students in studying plant classification material. The research method used in this study is a research and development method with the ASSURE model as the research design. Based on the results of the media validation test by experts, an average value of 3.25 was obtained, which indicates that the media was included in the valid category. Based on the results of the effectiveness test with the calculation of N-Gain, the average value is 0.49. This shows that, after using PPG media, the learning motivation of students has increased which is in the sufficient category.

Abstract

This study aims to implement biology domino card media as an alternative learning media and examine its effect on improving student understanding of excretory system material. The research used pre-experiment method with one group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were all students of class XI IPA SMA IT Bina Pekerti as many as 23 students, with saturated sampling technique. The instruments used include concept understanding tests and student response questionnaires. The results showed an increase in the average score from the pretest of 48.7 to the posttest of 81.5 with an average N-Gain value of 0.64 (medium category). The paired sample t-test showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the pretest and posttest. Students' responses to the use of media also showed a very positive category. Based on these results, the biology domino card media is effectively used to improve student understanding of excretory system material in class XI. Keywords: Biology dominoes card, student understanding, excretory system.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive analysis study that aims to evaluate the local potential of the Ngawonggo Partitraan Site as a learning resource in biology learning at school. Data was collected using a descriptive analysis approach based on the results of interviews and literature review. The interview technique in this study used a SWOT analysis approach (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to identify the advantages and challenges in utilizing the site as teaching material. The results of the literature study, it is known that the Ngawonggo Partitraan Site is a natural historical area that holds significant local potential, especially in terms of biodiversity. The site has various types of high-level plants, medicinal plants, and unique and distinctive types of bamboo. This biodiversity can be utilized as contextual biology learning materials, relevant to the surrounding environment, and in line with curriculum development and 21st century learning needs. Utilization of this local potential is expected to improve the quality of learning and strengthen the link between science and cultural values and local wisdom. Abstract

Violence against children is a crucial issue that has a broad impact on children's psychological and physical development. Teachers, as central figures in the primary education environment, have a strategic role in preventing this violence. This study aims to examine the potential integration of biology education as a preventive measure against child violence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. The data collection technique was interviews with three science teachers who teach at the junior high school level. The interview guide used included indicators of biology learning integrated with violence prevention efforts based on the possible impacts. The results of the study on junior high school teachers indicate that biology education has great potential as a preventive medium against child violence if integrated contextually with character education. Training and curriculum support are essential so that biology materials do not only focus on cognitive aspects, but also on affective aspects.
