Abstract

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health problems remain a global and national concern, particularly in relation to access to and utilization of reproductive health information. Inadequate utilization of reproductive health information among adolescents may contribute to risky sexual behaviors, early marriage, sexually transmitted infections, and unintended pregnancies. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with the utilization of reproductive health information among adolescents in Siak District, Siak Regency, Riau Province, in 2024. This study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of adolescents aged 15–19 years, and samples were selected using proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis. The results indicated that knowledge, attitudes, access to information media, peer support, parental roles, and support from health workers were significantly associated with the utilization of reproductive health information (p < 0.05). Access to information media was identified as the most dominant factor influencing the utilization of reproductive health information among adolescents. Strengthening adolescent-friendly information services, enhancing family support, and implementing digital health literacy interventions are recommended to improve adolescents’ utilization of reproductive health information.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is a common complaint experienced by adolescent girls, often interfering with daily activities, including school-related activities. This study aimed to identify the relationship between physical activity and the intensity of menstrual pain among adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 1 Siak, Siak Regency, in 2025. Physical activity is known to have positive effects in reducing dysmenorrhea symptoms; however, studies on this issue among Indonesian adolescents remain limited. This study employed a quantitative design using a survey approach involving 100 adolescent female respondents selected randomly. Data were collected using questionnaires that measured the frequency of physical activity and the intensity of menstrual pain using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results showed a significant negative relationship between the level of physical activity and menstrual pain intensity (r = -0.35, p < 0.05). Adolescent girls who engaged in regular physical activity reported lower levels of menstrual pain compared to those who were less physically active. These findings suggest that increasing physical activity may serve as an effective strategy for reducing dysmenorrhea symptoms among adolescent girls. Further research is needed to explore other factors that may contribute to this relationship.

Abstract

Body image and self-confidence are important psychosocial factors affecting adolescent girls’ reproductive health. Negative body image may influence self-esteem, reproductive health behavior, menstrual hygiene practices, and psychosocial well-being. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between body image and self-confidence with reproductive health among adolescent girls in Siak Regency in 2025. This study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 220 adolescent girls aged 15–19 years were selected using proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected using validated questionnaires measuring body image, self-confidence, and reproductive health behaviors. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. The results demonstrated significant relationships between body image (p = 0.002) and self-confidence (p = 0.001) with reproductive health. Adolescent girls with a positive body image were 3.1 times more likely to exhibit good reproductive health behaviors, while those with high self-confidence were 2.8 times more likely. Body image was identified as the dominant factor associated with reproductive health. Therefore, strengthening adolescent counseling services and reproductive health education programs that integrate psychosocial aspects is highly recommended.
