Abstract

Workplace safety in the construction sector remains a critical issue due to frequent accidents caused by non-compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regulations. Manual supervision is inefficient and prone to errors, necessitating an automated detection approach. The prior YOLOv5 version trained on the Construction Safety dataset from Roboflow-100, achieves a mean Average Precision (mAP@0.50) of 0.867. However, class imbalance, particularly the underrepresentation of "no-helmet" and "no-vest" categories, limited detection performance. This study improves the model by tuning hyperparameters for optimal training using grid search and applying data augmentation techniques to address dataset imbalance. Mosaic and Mixup augmentation technique is applied on the dataset. The augmented dataset is used to retrain YOLOv8, further optimizing detection accuracy. Results indicate an improved mAP@0.50 of 0.921, demonstrating enhanced performance in PPE violation detection. These refinements aim to strengthen workplace safety enforcement through more accurate and balanced PPE detection.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive narrative review of the enduring contributions of Islamic civilization, focusing on intellectual innovation, institutional development, cultural expression, and global influence. The review aims to synthesize literature across disciplines to understand how Islamic heritage continues to shape modern science, governance, education, and intercultural exchange. Methodologically, the review employed purposive literature selection from databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar using key terms like "Islamic Civilization," "Islamic History," and "Muslim Institutions." Inclusion criteria focused on studies offering historical insight, critical analysis, and contemporary relevance. The findings demonstrate that Islamic civilization has profoundly influenced modern scientific thought, educational systems, and administrative models. Institutions like Bait al-Hikmah and Al-Azhar played critical roles in knowledge production and dissemination. The review also identifies the adverse impacts of colonialism, which disrupted traditional Islamic structures, and explores the resurgence of Islamic intellectualism through digital tools and interdisciplinary approaches. Cultural and educational policies in Muslim-majority nations increasingly reflect efforts to reconcile modern governance with Islamic values. This synthesis confirms that Islamic civilization provides foundational frameworks for addressing current global challenges. Emphasizing the revival of traditional knowledge systems and inclusive governance offers pathways to sustainable development and intercultural harmony. The study calls for integrative policy reforms and continued research on digital knowledge dissemination and postcolonial Islamic thought.

Abstract

This study offers a comprehensive narrative review of the evolving relationship between Islamic philosophy and Western modernity. It aims to explore how Muslim intellectuals respond to the challenges of modern epistemology and secularism by reinterpreting classical Islamic concepts. The review applies a structured methodology involving major academic databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar, employing keywords like "Islamic philosophy," "modernity," and "identity formation." Articles were selected based on peer-reviewed credibility, conceptual relevance, and thematic alignment with the focus on philosophical responses to modernity. Findings reveal that while dominant narratives portray Islam and modernity as dichotomous, contemporary scholars propose integrative models, such as Taha Abderrahman's trusteeship paradigm and reinterpretations of tawḥīd, ʿ aql, and fanā’. These concepts are adapted to address the ethical and epistemological crises brought on by secularism and postcolonial identity fragmentation. The discussion also identifies colonialism, global modernism, and identity crises as systemic barriers that shape the discourse. In response, scholars emphasize educational reform, legal reinterpretation, interfaith and inter-disciplinary dialogue, and the revitalization of traditional epistemologies as critical interventions. This study concludes that dynamic engagement with modernity through the lens of Islamic tradition can foster inclusive intellectual frameworks and social cohesion. It recommends further research on the implementation and impact of these reformist strategies, highlighting the value of integrating classical Islamic values into modern academic and sociopolitical structures.

Abstract

This narrative review explores the dynamics of Islamic educational leadership and its influence on institutional quality and transformation. The study aims to synthesize prevailing leadership models, evaluate their integration with Islamic values, and identify systemic enablers and constraints. Literature was gathered systematically from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar using keywords including "Islamic educational leadership" and "transformational leadership in Muslim schools." Criteria for inclusion emphasized peer-reviewed sources focused on Islamic education contexts. Results indicate that transformational, spiritual, and charismatic leadership models dominate the Islamic education landscape. These models integrate core Islamic values such as tawhid, amanah, and qiwamah, contributing to effective governance, ethical decision-making, and stakeholder trust. The discussion reveals alignment with global leadership theories, affirming the universal relevance of value-based leadership. However, structural barriers such as gender biases, rigid organizational cultures, and inconsistent educational policies persist as significant impediments. Policy-driven solutions such as value-based leadership training, digital transformation strategies, inter-sectoral collaboration, and affirmative action for women leaders are recommended. These approaches foster inclusive, adaptive, and ethically grounded leadership. This review emphasizes the urgency of reforming Islamic educational leadership through integrated strategies that respond to contemporary challenges while preserving foundational religious principles.

Abstract

This study explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning, can be leveraged to analyze public discourse on climate change and improve climate communication strategies. Focusing on four key questions, the research examines how AI classifies public sentiment, identifies dominant topics, detects framing structures, and generates actionable insights to inform targeted communication. Over one million climate-related posts were collected from Twitter and Facebook between January and June 2024. Sentiment analysis using a fine-tuned BERT model categorized posts into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments, while Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) revealed key topics. Framing analysis employed supervised machine learning to classify posts into narrative frames, and AI-powered visualization tools were used for interpretation. The results indicate a polarized sentiment distribution: 45% negative, 35% positive, and 20% neutral. Negative posts centered on skepticism and political inaction, while positive posts supported renewable energy and activism. Thematic analysis highlighted five key topics: scientific evidence, activism, economic implications, political debate, and environmental justice. Framing analysis revealed four dominant frames—climate urgency, economic impact, political action, and environmental justice—that shape public perception. Temporal sentiment shifts aligned with major events, suggesting public discourse is responsive to political and activist developments. This research demonstrates the potential of AI to provide scalable, data-driven insights into public climate discourse. By integrating these insights into strategic planning, communicators can design more effective, emotionally resonant messages, enhancing public engagement and supporting collective climate action.

Abstract

This research explores the subject-verb agreement system of Pashto and English, focusing on their syntactic and morphological properties. Pashto belongs to the group of Indo-Iranian languages, characterized by a sophisticated agreement system with verbs inflected for number, person, and gender, particularly in past and future tenses. In contrast to Pashto, the English language has a simpler agreement system with minimal inflection. This study explores various approaches to grammatical agreement and their implications for language learning and theoretical linguistics by comparing the subject-verb agreement of both languages. A comparative linguistic approach was employed, utilizing a qualitative method. Data were collected from written and spoken sources in both languages, followed by systematic syntactic analysis. The findings of this study show apparent discrepancies in the agreement system of Pashto and English Languages.  Pashto has a complex agreement system involving a rich inflection for number, person, and gender, showing a loaded morphological structure. This inflectional richness of Pashto provides multifaceted information that supports accurate and clear communication. In contrast, English has a more streamlined agreement system with simpler inflection.  Moreover, the findings contribute to the knowledge of cross-linguistics variations and offer information for language education in multilingual contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the deconstruction of the Korawa characters in the novel Perang by Putu Wijaya. In the epic Mahabharata, the Korawa are conventionally positioned as antagonistic figures representing evil, while the Pandawa are depicted as symbols of virtue. However, through a deconstructive approach, the novel Perang dismantles this binary opposition and presents a new perspective on the Korawa. This type of research is qualitative, utilizing content analysis and supported by Derrida's deconstruction theory. Data is drawn from quotes in the novel that reveal shifts in meaning, the reconstruction of the Korawa character, and criticism of several narratives that have long been considered absolute. The results of the research show that the Korawa in the novel Perang is not only portrayed as the evil side but also as a group with complex characters, humanitarian values, and perspectives that can be understood. By deconstructing the dichotomy between good and evil, this novel offers a new discourse that history and the identity of characters are not absolute but rather the result of constructions that can be questioned and reinterpreted.
