Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to produce the development of TIMSS equivalent questions to measure students' mathematical reasoning abilities in geometry content that are valid, practical and effective and to describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving TIMSS equivalent questions developed in geometry content. This research is a formative evaluation type of development research with two stages, namely the preliminary stage (preparation stage) and the prototyping stage using a formative evaluation flow consisting of self evaluation, prototyping (expert reviews, one-to-one and small group), and field test. The instruments used were a description test with 7 questions, a response questionnaire from students, teachers and lecturers. The results of this research indicate that TIMSS-equivalent questions have been successfully developed to measure students' mathematical reasoning abilities in quality geometry content as seen from: (1) Validation by experts was declared valid because the three validators stated "The questions can be used with revisions" and validity calculations used Microsoft Excel declared valid.; (2) The practicality of the TIMSS equivalent questions developed in geometry content was categorized as sufficient and the average positive response from students was 89.2%; (3) The effectiveness of developing TIMSS equivalent questions to measure students' mathematical reasoning abilities in geometry content is considered "effective" with an average of 82%; (4) The mathematical reasoning ability of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 11 Medan in developing TIMSS equivalent questions was obtained by 12 students being poor, 16 students being adequate, 8 students being good and 0 students being very good in the sufficient category.

Abstract

Technology-based media is very important in learning, in line with the demands of the digital and technological era. It can create a creative and effective learning atmosphere, foster growth, and increase student interest in learning. This study aims to analyze the effect of technology-based learning media on student interest in Aqidah Akhlak subjects in Madrasah. This research uses quantitative methods with a descriptive approach. Data were collected from grade X students of Islamic Senior High School. The sampling technique used was total sampling technique, with a sample size of 60 students. The results of data analysis show that the use of technology-based learning media affects student interest in Aqidah Akhlak subjects by 15.2%. These findings can be preliminary data for future researchers to explore the use of technology in learning with different contexts and issues.

Abstract

Poverty remains a major challenge in Indonesia, with a national rate reaching 9.36 percent in 2023, despite significant disparities between rural (12.22 percent) and urban (7.29 percent) areas, as well as the influence of outlier that can distort classification analysis at the district/city level. This study aims to classify poverty levels in 514 districts/cities into high (above 9.36 percent) and low (below or equal to 9.36 percent) categories using logistic regression, and to compare the model performance on original data with outlier-adjusted data through Z-score and interquartile range (IQR) methods. The methods applied include the collection of secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency and the Ministry of Home Affairs, exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and correlations (such as the negative correlation between per capita expenditure and poverty), and pre-processing by capping outlier. logistic regression training with hyperparameter tuning through grid search and cross-validation, as well as evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC-AUC) metrics. The predictor variables include gross domestic product (GDP), life expectancy, average length of schooling, and per capita expenditure. The results show consistent performance across techniques, with test accuracy reaching 77.67 percent, ROC-AUC of 0.8566, macro precision of 77.90 percent, macro recall of 77.79 percent, and macro F1-score of 77.66 percent. Outlier handling reduced the poverty rate standard deviation from 6.45 to 5.99 (Z-score) and 5.57 (IQR), without changing the distribution of binary labels (266 low, 248 high). The model coefficients confirm the dominant negative influence of per capita expenditure (-1.067), supporting targeted policies to reduce regional disparities.
