Abstract

UKM Peternakan Hasanah is a broiler chicken farming business with a closed house system established in 2022 in Sumber Baru Village, Jember Regency. This farm raises 10,000 chickens with a harvest period at the age of 28 to 32 days. One of the main problems is manual monitoring of temperature, humidity, and ammonia gas, resulting in a lack of precision and efficiency. As a solution, technology is applied in the form of a portable monitoring tool using a DHT22 sensor for temperature and humidity and an MQ137 sensor for ammonia gas. Data from the sensor is processed with ESP32 and stored on a microSD card. The implementation method used is Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), which involves partners in every stage, from situation analysis, tool making, mentoring, to evaluation. This program produces a monitoring tool that is cheap, portable, and easy to use, with an increase in partner understanding from 30% to 80%. As a result, the chicken mortality rate has decreased and the efficiency of cage management has increased. This program is expected to become a model for sustainable technology for broiler chicken farming in Indonesia.

Abstract

Melon farming has a role in meeting the demand for nutrients and vitamins in the community. Kertonegoro Village Farmers Group is a melon farming business that has problems in meeting this demand. The problems faced are in the labor cost sector for watering and fertilizing. The application of Smart Agriculture Technology based on Outseal PLC and solar power aims to increase the efficiency of labor costs for watering and fertilizing 48 melon plants. The method used is Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), in which the partners participate directly in every stage, starting from partner coordination, design, trial, to evaluation. The results of the application showed efficiency in labor costs by 10%, from Rp. 680,000 to Rp. 612,000. With a systematic approach through coordination, training, and mentoring, it is hoped that this program will succeed in providing real benefits to farmers.

Abstract

Duck farming in Indonesia offers great potential due to its high productivity. One of the duck breeders UD Putra Jember in Kalimalang Hamlet, Jember Regency faces productivity constraints due to using manual hatching equipment monitoring and low profitability. The application of Smart Automatic Egg Hatching Incubator based on Solar Cell and Internet of Things (IoT) aims to increase partner profitability and remotely monitor temperature and humidity in real time in one hatching period for 28 days with a capacity of 750 eggs. The method used in this activity includes several stages such as team coordination with partners, planning and making tools, assistance in using tools and evaluation. The results achieved by partners were an increase in profit of 30.56% or Rp.718,500. This application activity is expected to help the economy of duck farmers in Indonesia.

Abstract

The primary quality indicator of coffee beans is determined by their moisture content. This study aims to develop a portable prototype device for measuring both the moisture content and temperature of coffee beans, utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with a Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor v1.0 and an SHT21 sensor. The device is designed to provide accurate and efficient measurements, with results displayed in real time on an OLED screen. In addition, the system stores measurement data on an SD card for further analysis. Experimental testing was conducted five times for each sample, comparing the results of the prototype with reference instruments, namely the YL-69 sensor for moisture measurement and a digital thermometer for temperature measurement. The results demonstrated that the device achieved a high level of accuracy, with an average relative error of 1.05% for moisture content and 0.91% for temperature. Furthermore, the prototype was proven to be portable and energy-efficient, consuming 7.7 Wh over 1.1 hours of operation, as evaluated through battery-based performance testing until full discharge. With its integrated data storage and real-time monitoring capabilities, this device provides a practical solution for coffee farmers and processors in maintaining and ensuring the quality of coffee beans.
