Abstract

This study proposes a mathematical model for the problem of selecting suppliers for the palm oil industry by considering the green factor. Stochastic parameters are also considered to deal with uncertain parameters in green supply chain networks. The objective of this model is to select suppliers considering the total costs and total greenhouse gas emissions. This paper aims to present a more comprehensive model based on real-world conditions for the supplier selection problem of green supply chain in the palm oil industries under uncertainty. Besides economic issues, environmental issues are also considered from several aspects such as selecting environmentally friendly suppliers and purchasing from them and considering the environmental impact of the finished product. The results show that increasing one of the indicators such as the number of products and market demand leads to an increase in the value of the total objective function, which is caused by an increase in problem size. On the other hand, the cost function increases when most supplier selection is environmentally friendly suppliers. Meanwhile, the function of the objective level of greenhouse gas emissions increases when the selection of suppliers is most suppliers with high greenhouse gas emissions, but the objective function of costs decreases

Abstract

This study presents a secondary analysis of the optimization of yellow rice and fried rice production at Ibu Hamina's shop using the linear programming method. Previously, optimization was carried out using a graphical method but did not conduct a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the impact of changes in production parameters on the optimal solution. The method used is a more sophisticated simplex method, while simultaneously conducting duality analysis to understand shadow prices and resource efficiency by evaluating the relationship between primal and dual problems, and evaluating the impact of changes in production parameters on optimal solutions by conducting sensitivity analysis. The results of this study show that the optimal solution is achieved by producing 7 packages of yellow rice and 3 packages of fried rice per week, resulting in a maximum profit of IDR 7,350,000.00 per week; which is IDR 1,050,000 higher than the results of previous research. The duality analysis shows the consistency of the optimal value between the primal and dual problems. The sensitivity analysis shows that small changes in parameters can affect the value of the objective function. This study shows that the simplex method is effective in optimizing the production of yellow rice and fried rice, providing a more significant maximum profit

Abstract

Public opinion on PON 2024 (National Sports Week in Indonesia) became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting both positive and negative sentiments. Understanding these sentiments is important for evaluating the event and preparing for the upcoming. However, baseline SVM algorithms using standard kernel functions are not optimized for text similarity and limit performance in sentiment analysis. This research proposes cosine similarity as a substitution for the kernel function on SVM, enhancing the sentiment analyzer's performance on public opinions about PON 2024. The approach leverages cosine similarity's strength in handling text-based data. The key contribution of this research is the integration of cosine similarity into the SVM algorithm as a replacement for kernel functions, improving performance in sentiment analysis. Additionally, this study offers a comprehensive comparison with baseline SVM and provides actionable insights for upcoming PON. The study collected 1,011 tweets related to PON 2024 using web scraping and the Twitter API, followed by labeling sentiments as positive, neutral, or negative. Several preprocessing techniques also were applied to prepare the data. Two models were developed: baseline SVM and another using SVM integrated with cosine similarity, both evaluated through accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The baseline SVM achieved 85.1% accuracy, 85% precision, 83% recall, and 83.3% F1-score, struggling particularly with negative sentiment. Opposite, by integrating cosine similarity on SVM, the performance improved to 88.73% accuracy, 88.3% precision, 89.3% recall, and 88.3% F1-score—a boost of 3.3-6.3%. Additionally, the public opinion revealed that positive sentiments mostly focused on athlete achievements and medal awards, while negative sentiments highlighted issues like referee performance and specific sports (e.g., football). This approach can serve as a valuable tool for event organizers to identify public concerns and maintain positive aspects for the upcoming PON 2028.

Abstract

Determinants are conventionally defined only for square matrices, which leaves the theoretical discussion of rectangular matrices relatively undeveloped. This study aims to extend determinant theory by introducing a generalized form of the cofactor expansion applicable to non-square matrices. The method employed in this research is a theoretical–analytical approach that begins with identifying fundamental determinant axioms and proceeds with the construction of a recursive cofactor expansion for   matrices with . Worked examples are used to demonstrate the linearity, antisymmetry under row interchange, and reduction consistency of the proposed formulation when applied to square matrices. The findings indicate that the generalized expansion preserves essential algebraic properties and shows compatibility with established rectangular determinant definitions, including the Radić determinant. Overall, this study provides a coherent theoretical foundation for the generalized determinant of rectangular matrices and contributes to broader applications of determinant-based analysis in linear algebra
