Abstract

The location chromatic number for a graph is an extension of the concepts of partition dimension and vertex coloring in a graph. The minimum number of colors required to perform location coloring in graph G is referred to as the location chromatic number of graph G. This research is a literature study that discusses the location chromatic number of the Pizza graph. The approach used to calculate the location-chromatic number of these graphs involves determining upper and lower bounds. The results obtained show that the location chromatic number of the pizza graph is 4 for n = 3 and n for ≥ 4.

Abstract

Ulos cloth is a traditional woven fabric of the Batak tribe in North Sumatra, valued for its aesthetic and symbolic significance in various ceremonies. The diversity of ulos motifs presents challenges in preservation due to their unique patterns and functions. This study aims to develop an accurate method for classifying ulos motifs using Transfer Learning on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures. Five popular models—VGG16, VGG19, MobileNetV3, Inception-V3, and EfficientNetV2—were evaluated on a dataset of 962 ulos images across six motif categories. The results show that Inception-V3 outperformed other models with an average validation accuracy of 98.13% and the lowest loss of 5.67%. Inception-V3 also demonstrated superior generalization, achieving the highest K-fold validation accuracy, while VGG16 and VGG19 exhibited overfitting at higher learning rates. Two-way ANOVA analysis confirmed significant performance differences among the models and highlighted the interaction between model type and training methods. This research recommends Inception-V3 as the optimal model for ulos motif classification, offering an efficient and reliable tool to support cultural preservation through advanced image recognition technology.

Abstract

The Village Development Index (IDM) of the North Padang Lawas Regency in 2023 remained underdeveloped. The status has been upheld since 2018, although many craft and tourism industries in North Padang Lawas Regency have the potential to contribute to the regional economy, one of which is batik small medium enterprises (SMEs). Batik SMEs in North Padang Lawas Regency are predicted to be the featured product of the regency. One of the batik SMEs, i.e., Batik Sekar Najogi, becomes the icon of North Padang Lawas Regency. However, limited knowledge and resources in developing varied batik motifs have made the batik SMEs in this regency unpopular, both provincial and national. The Abdimas Team and partners, i.e., the Department of Industry and Trade of North Padang Lawas Regency, hold training and coaching for the Symatrig computer application to develop batik motifs based on symmetrical patterns in mathematics. The application also has different motif development patterns to produce various batik motifs. Of 30 batik makers joining the training, 13 agree to utilize the Symatrig application in their businesses, while the others strongly agree. Batik makers also offer recommendations to continue conducting such activity to support those involved in the industry.

Abstract

Gorga is a carving or sculpture typically found on the exterior of a Toba Batak traditional house. The Batak people use fractal (geometric) dimensions in Batak gorga carvings. In mathematics, repetitive and symmetrical patterns in planes that result from transformations are included in the plane symmetry groups. Ethnomathematics is a cultural approach to the concept of mathematics. A frieze group can be defined as a symmetrical group which arises from a unidirectional translation and subsequently generates a linear pattern that recurs exclusively in a single direction. There are seven different pattern types in the frieze groups. Meanwhile, crystallographic patterns are flat two-dimensional patterns that form a lattice. There are 17 crystallographic types of patterns with five different types of unit lattices. The purpose of this study is to generate motifs for Batak ornaments based on frieze groups and crystallographic groups using a Matlab Graphical User Interface (GUI). A total of 119 new motifs were generated based on seven types of patterns in the frieze groups, namely, F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6, and F7. Meanwhile, in the crystallographic groups, 153 new motifs were generated based on nine types of patterns, namely, p1,p2,pm,pg,cm,pmg,pmm,cmm, and pgg. To keep with trends, the new motifs generated can be used in everyday life as decorations or business symbols that are characteristic of the Toba Batak region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the SEIQR model for the SARS-CoV-2 dynamic by considering in-out mobility. The model construction is based on the COVID-19 response strategy implemented by the Indonesian government, then analyzing the model by determining the equilibrium point and basic reproduction number, analyzing model stability, parameter sensitivity, and bifurcation. The results show that the model has stable disease-free and disease-endemic critical points when the parameter inequality conditions based on the Routh-Hurwitz criteria are satisfied. Numerical simulations show that the system takes a long time to reach equilibrium. Furthermore, the sensitivity analysis of the basic reproduction number shows that the most sensitive parameters are natural birth and death rate susceptible, contact rate of susceptible individuals with infected individuals from local and international subjects, and rate of exposed individuals who have infected. Thus, efforts to handle COVID-19 in Indonesia can be improved by focusing on controlling international in-out mobility, so that the number of exposed individuals who have been infected can be reduced. Moreover, the bifurcation analysis shows that the system undergoes forward or backward bifurcation under disease-free conditions if certain coefficient values are satisfied based on the Castillo-Chavez and Song conditions.
