Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan strategi penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif type JIGSAW secara efektif dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya tentang materi reading. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Agustus – Oktober 2011 di SMP Negeri 130 Jakarta Barat. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-1 berjumlah 35 orang yang terdiri darilaki-laki 11 orang dan perempuan 24 orang pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Intrumen yang digunakan pada pada penelitian ini adalah lembar tes siswa dan angket respon siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Negeri 130 Jakarta, melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, yang terdiri dari dua siklus, tiap siklus sebanyak dua kali pertemuan. Sebelum melanjutkan pada siklus 1 dan siklus ke 2 dilakukan terlebih dahulu Pra PTK dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 58,86 atau ketuntasan hanya mencapai 42,86%, dan pada pertemuan kedua atau pada siklus 1 nilai rata-rata mencapai 66 dengan ketuntasan mencapai 62,86%. Hasil penelitian telah mencapai indikator yang diharapkan pada siklus kedua, yaitu nilai rata-rata hasil post test siswa 71,14, jumlah siswa yang mencapai KKM 94,28 %, hasil tersebut diperoleh dengan menggunakan strategi sebagai berikut. Mengajukan pertanyaan awal pada siswa dari tiap kelompok. Meningkatkan frekwensi tanya jawab pada saat pemantauan. Menilai keaktifan siswa dan memberi tahu hasilnya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menerapkan prosedur metode penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif type JIGSAW dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa pada pembelajaran bahasa Inggris

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the promotional strategies employed by the Universitas Negeri Padang Library to attract visitors or users to the library. The research method used is library research or literature study with a qualitative approach to obtain data in the form of words or descriptions. The research findings indicate that library promotion strategies can be implemented through the following activities: (a) Print media, such as newspapers, magazines, and brochures; (b) Electronic media, including television, websites, and social media, which are currently popular among users, as well as radio; (c) Non-mass media, such as banners and billboards; (d) Event-based media, such as exhibitions, seminars, talk shows, and outreach programs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of utilizing ChatGPT on information retrieval among students of the Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. As a form of artificial intelligence (AI), ChatGPT is expected to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of academic information searching processes. This research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The population consisted of 91 students, and a sample of 75 respondents was selected using the Slovin formula. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire based on indicators from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Fred Davis and the Information Retrieval Model by David Ellis. The results indicate that the utilization of ChatGPT in information retrieval falls into the beneficial category, with an overall mean score of 3.18. The highest score was found in the ease of use indicator (3.40), followed by usefulness(3.20), attitude toward use (3.25), and perceived usefulness (3.12). Meanwhile, among the information retrieval indicators, verifying obtained the highest average score (3.52), while end scored the lowest (2.49). These findings demonstrate that ChatGPT assists students in identifying, verifying, and organizing academic information effectively, although sufficient information literacy skills are still required to ensure the accuracy of retrieved information. Overall, the utilization of ChatGPT has a positive influence on improving students’ information retrieval abilities and can serve as a supportive digital learning tool within academic environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of library collection utilization on students’ learning achievement at SMA Negeri 1 Junjung Sirih, Solok Regency. The research was motivated by the low frequency of students visiting the school library despite the adequate availability of library collections. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The population consisted of 480 students, while the sample comprised 83 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity, reliability, and simple linear regression tests. The results indicated that the level of library collection utilization was in the moderate category, while students’ learning achievement was in the high category. The regression analysis revealed a positive and significant influence between the utilization of library collections and students’ learning achievement. Thus, the higher the level of library collection utilization, the better the students’ academic performance. This finding emphasizes the importance of optimizing the role of school libraries as learning resource centers to enhance students’ academic quality.

Abstract

Background of the study: One of the important roles of libraries is to build a knowledge-based society ecosystem by making libraries an open interaction space through a library transformation strategy based on social inclusion. Purpose: The study was designed to investigate the issues associated with retooling and re-skilling cataloguing librarians in the digital era. Method: The design used is a qualitative analysis based on a detailed case study of the impact of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program on Community Welfare in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Findings: The core impact of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program is summarized by five objectives: enhancing access to information (via digitalization/literacy), fostering community skills development (via targeted training), reducing unemployment rates (via job skills/entrepreneurship), promoting social participation (via community engagement), and improving the local economy (via business development/creative economy). Conclusion: Through the programs implemented, libraries can strengthen their role as public libraries in improving the quality of human resources, so that community literacy skills increase, enabling them to play a more active role in sustainable development and achieving the goals set out in the SDGs.
