Abstract

Motivasi memiliki dampak yang kuat pada aspek kognitif dan afektif membaca. Motivasi memengaruhi cara seseorang berpikir, ketika seseorang tertarik pada teks yang mereka baca, pemahaman ia lebih meningkat dibandingkan dengan ketika membaca teks yang tidak ia minati. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeksripsikan factor-faktor yang mempengaruhi motivasi mahasiswa prodi PBA di IAIN Palangka Raya dalam membaca kritis (pemahaman) teks Arab dalam mata kuliah Maharah Qiraah. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deksriptif, teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi dan documentasi. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dan diabsahkan dengan metode triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada empat factor yang mempengaruhi motivasi baca mahasiswa dalam membaca teks Arab; 1) Kemampuan membaca 2) Kebutuhan membaca 3) Minat atau keinginan pribadi 4) Kondisi dan fasilitas yang mendukung.

Abstract

This study is intended to determine the extent of correlation between English learning motivation and public speaking ability. The design used is Correlation analysis by using Simple Linear Regression. The participants of the study were 30 students of English Education Study program of IAIN Palangka Raya who joined Speaking class and who used the questionnaire. The data were collected from 4 April to 8 May September 2023. The result of the study shows that the data above is stated to be correlated. Variable X to Variable Y has a correlation. With the degree of relationship, namely 0.70 and the form of the relationship is positive.

Abstract

Kehadiran novel-novel berlatar di Kalimantan Selatan memberikan gambaran kepada pembaca tentang alam, budaya dan masyarakat di Kalimantan Selatan. Beberapa novel yang menggambarkan tentang alam, budaya dan masyarakat Kalimantan Selatan yaitu novel Sandi Firly yang berjudul Catatan Ayah Tentang Cintanya Kepada Ibu, novel Randu yang berjudul Galuh Hati, dan novel Miranda Seftiana dan Avesina Soebli yang berjudul Jendela Seribu Sungai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan potret pendulangan intan, pertambangan batubara dan kondisi sungai dalam novel-novel berlatar di Kalimantan Selatan. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data-data yang dikumpulkan berupa kata-kata, frasa, kalimat, dialog para tokoh dan paragraf yang berhubungan dengan potret pendulangan intan, pertambangan batubara dan kondisi sungai dalam novel-novel berlatar di Kalimantan Selatan. Setelah data terkumpul, data akan dianalisis. Hasil penelitian mendeskripsikan tentang kondisi masyarakat di daerah pendulangan intan, kerusakan alam akibat penambangan batubara secara illegal, dan fungsi sungai yang digunakan sebagai tempat berdagang, sebagai sarana untuk alat transportasi air seperti kelotok, sebagai tempat tinggal masyarakat, dan sebagai tempat yang dianggap keramat

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery plays a central role in English language development, as it enables learners to understand, use, and communicate ideas effectively. However, many students often struggle to retain and apply new vocabulary, which makes the choice of teaching method especially important. One approach that has gained attention is the Engage, Study, and Activate (ESA) method, which combines motivational activities, structured Study, and communicative practice. This Study aimed to explore English teachers' perceptions of the ESA method in enhancing students' vocabulary mastery and to identify which aspects of the method they found most effective in classroom practice. The research employed a descriptive quantitative design with survey data collected from ten English teachers at the elementary and junior high school levels. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of 37 items, adapted from established models, and designed to capture perceptions across the three ESA stages. Responses were measured on a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores, percentages, and standard deviations. Findings revealed that the majority of teachers hold positive perceptions toward the ESA method. Teachers emphasized that the Engage phase helps capture students' attention and motivation, the Study phase provides essential accuracy and explanation of vocabulary, and the Activate phase encourages meaningful use of words through role-plays, discussions, and collaborative activities. The highest-rated item concerned the role of question-and-answer activities in motivating learners (M = 4.60). At the same time, the lowest rating reflected concerns about group work consuming too much classroom time (M = 2.90). Overall, the results suggest that teachers view ESA as an effective, flexible, and student-centered approach for improving vocabulary learning in EFL contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Flipped Classroom model on the learning outcomes of Indonesian language in grade IV at MIS Hidayatul Muhajirin. In this model, students learn basic materials at home through videos/learning materials, while face-to-face time is focused on discussions and application exercises. The study was carried out because the learning outcomes, especially the capacity to speak and present, were still low. The study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design through pretest-posttest. The results of the study are expected to present learning alternatives that are able to intensify student motivation, activeness, and learning outcomes.
